I had only been to one…read morePT practice where I was scheduled for an hour with a PT doctor along with 2 or 3 other patients. He would give me an ice bag for 20 minutes to put on my injury, then work with the other patients who had the same appointment time. When he returned to me, he needed a debriefing about why I was there again, because he couldn't keep his patients straight. I felt like I could have done the same things at home and saved myself a lot of time and money. I think I went twice, total, before I gave up. Vertex operates within a whole different model -- one that enlightened me and has influenced the entire PT industry in Columbia, as other practices are now trying to mirror Vertex's approach. Each PT doctor meets with just one patient the entire hour, and a lot of progress is made in that hour. I have been patients of Vertex's founders, Dr. Jim Floyd and Dr. Brandon Vaughn, and both are exceptional -- very bright, innovative, and caring, and their integrity and patient-centered approach is apparent in all they do and in the kind of people they hire. I have seen multiple PTs at their clinics, with Dr. Aimee Depelteau being the one I've seen the most, and all have been exceptional. As a patient in my early 50s who is trying to stay active and strong for a lifetime, I have had a range of injuries that Vertex has helped me get through. If I'm injured (again), I go to Vertex for a consult for a faster diagnosis and treatment plan than I would get via an MD (as SC does not require an MD referral for the first several PT visits), and I get the bonus of not having to pay for things like X-rays, MRIs, etc. unless I truly need them. I'll always be grateful to Dr. Floyd for saving me from having surgery for a herniated disc in my neck, thanks to his wisdom and treatment. This is a smart, well-trained team who is passionate about their work and good health. Dr. Josh Jeffery and Dr. Vaughn have a great podcast, Better Faster, and many of the PT team engage in fitness coaching on the side and train hard themselves. Highly recommend.

Wife went here back in May 2026 for some back pain. After a brief examination, they promised they'd…read moresend notes to her on exercises and stretches to do by the end of the week. Weeks went by with nothing, and we were told repeatedly that the notes weren't ready. It's now been over 2 MONTHS and still they haven't provided what was paid for. I would not recommend coming here due to terrible service.

The insurance company delayed my payment and I would often get ambushed and followed by law enforcement going home or stopping for errands or visiting family in the Cayce, South Carolina area. They would call me and harassed me about payment. I already paid out over $200 out of my own pocket for attendance to get better physically. I am still not well as I am often treated like a doormat.

They have treated my Dad with SUCH love and respect. They work hard and are creative to keep it interesting. They just really go above and beyond. I'm in my 50s and as an adult, fitness was not a part of my routine. I was out of shape and didn't…read morefeel comfortable working out with others. A friend of mine invited me to workout with her and our trainer, Wesley Newsom, changed my whole perspective. I went from rarely working out to being a regular, and from feeling uncomfortable and awkward to feeling like I'm at my home away from home. EQ is welcoming- from the trainers to the members--and makes you feel like you belong, no matter your age or experience level. Although working out next to me may be college athletes in peak condition, nobody makes you feel like you have to keep up with anyone else and modifications are always an option. The workouts are challenging but we also have fun. The trainers are all very different but bring great energy and make the hard work enjoyable. I also appreciate that recovery is intentional at EQ, which is helpful as I get older, but is good for everyone! With an in house physical therapist and weekly yoga and mat Pilates classes, my body has a chance to recover from all of my hard work the rest of the week. My favorite thing about EQ is the community. We even have monthly outings, family classes, a book club, running club and a kickball team. I never expected to make friends at a gym, but here we are, and some of my best friends came from EQ! If you're older or just getting back into fitness, this gym is a great place to start--and stick with. You won't be overwhelmed, and you'll feel supported every step of the way.

He meets you where you are physically, adapts to each individual's strengths and weaknesses, and gives a great workout! The music and his energy help class fly by, even on the toughest days. The workouts change every day with a variety of strength and cardio days. My husband and I are so much healthier and happier because of EQ. EQ has an in house Physical Therapist that is wonderful, too. Kate has helped my husband, kids, and myself heal from various injuries and get right back to training. I appreciate that recovery is a priority at EQ. The best part of EQ is the community. Wes and Kate create a great environment with people of all ages and abilities and get us to sweat together and have fun, adding regular outings and activities to enjoy outside of working out.
