I'm copy and pasting this because people need to know the truth about HHRC. As a former employee,…read moreI've seen it with my own eyes--and I can tell you, everything being said is 100% true. It breaks my heart to even have to share this, but families deserve to know what really goes on behind those doors. ALSO, FOR THE RECORD, THIS FACILITY IS HAVING CORPORATE ASSOCIATES LEAVE FIVE STAR REVIEWS AND BLOCKING FOLKS ON FACEBOOK WHO ARE SHARING THIS INFORMATION. Not exactly innocent behavior ‍ Update: The daughter of a Harrisonburg Health and Rehab resident is speaking out after her father was rushed back to the hospital with a severe UTI--yet another health crisis linked to ongoing neglect at the facility. She says this is not the first time her father has suffered due to poor care, and now she's determined to make sure their story, and others like it, are heard. After posting about her father's experience, she received an overwhelming number of messages from other families with similar stories. Heartbroken by what she's learned, she vows to keep being a voice for those who can't speak for themselves. Most importantly, Adult Protective Services (APS) has officially founded the case. An APS worker confirmed in person that the allegations of neglect are valid. Back in February, her father developed multiple serious infections--including a UTI, staph, and MRSA--due to lack of basic catheter care. He was hospitalized instead of being discharged home. He was readmitted to HHRC on February 28th for therapy, and initially, it seemed like staff were more attentive--likely because she had already reported previous issues. But that changed quickly. On Saturday, March 14th, when she and her children came to visit, they found her father still in bed, unbathed, hungry, and left in a soiled diaper. His aide falsely claimed he had been up, showered, and fed. However, the therapist confirmed he had not been out of bed or seen since the aide's shift started. When she changed him herself, she discovered his skin was red and irritated from sitting in dried urine, with a clear outline on the pad showing how long it had been there. She marked the time the clean diaper was put on him and returned later that day. Shockingly, he was still in the same diaper nearly eight hours later, wet and soiled. Staff admitted this wasn't surprising. By law, patients must be checked and changed every two hours, but it's clear that's not being followed. She confronted the aide, who changed her story multiple times and ultimately claimed that "if they're dry, we don't have to change them," despite clear evidence otherwise. On top of the neglect, she documented multiple medication cups left unattended on a med cart in the hallway--completely unmonitored while residents walked by. This is a serious safety hazard that could have led to dangerous consequences. Pre-pouring medications and leaving them unattended is strictly against good nursing practices and federal guidelines. It not only puts residents at risk, but it also qualifies as a documentable harm tag for state surveyors during inspections. She has since contacted lawyers, the Board of Nursing, the Department of Health, APS, and the local news station WHSV, hoping a story will be run. She has time-stamped photos and videos as evidence and has confirmed that, due to no admission paperwork being signed during either of her father's stays, a lawsuit can move forward. ‍ She urges the public: please share this story. Families need to know what's really happening behind closed doors. If this is how someone is treated with a family advocating for them, imagine what happens to those with no one watching!

My daughter is a student at JMU and has been suffering with back pain and tingling in her legs…read more Urgent care referred her to Dr. Hess and we were so happy to get in to see him within the same week. She arrived at her appointment, he didn't listen to her complaints, NEVER touched or examined her back, and told her "it's probably a disc, go to Physical Therapy." She called me very upset, how is she supposed to go to PT with no diagnosis? What if it caused more damage than good without knowing what it was? She ended up coming home and we went to our primary care who did x-rays and diagnosed her with degenerative disk disease. This will be an ongoing issue she will need to manage and have a Doctor who is on her side and not treating her as a dumb child (she's a legal adult). I can tell you it will NOT be Dr. Hess or Sentara Health Care.

The nurses knew EXACTLY what was happened, and he wouldn't stop for them either! I reported him to the patient advocate, and Dr. Hess called me to apologize later that day. Fake apology, guaranteed, told him how bad he was, and I would be letting people know. The only reason his office is getting the two stars is because SOME of the office staff know how to treat patients with humanity. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE
