Medium, small, and study spaces available by reservation and first-come, first-served. A modern and well-connected space with knowledgeable and helpful staff. And, unlike many area libraries, they're not all about stocking romance & western & tinfoil-hat nonsense at the cost of maintaining access to classics and significant books that should be in every library. It's almost as if the staff and managers actually appreciate and know how to read. Could it be??? If only I could spend more time in Bardstown!

It wasn't…read moremy preferred/favorite branch, but it became my go-to when the main branch downtown closed for renovations (which....are they done yet? Soon? Please?). Convenient to my home, as well as other life things like a grocery store, restaurants, and coffee shops. The slow death and ultimate loss of the MidCity Mall as a whole is a turtle-speed tragedy, and I am currently most bummed about the closing of a library branch in one of the most walkable parts of town. The staff, like all the branches I have been to, were kind and helpful and I always enjoyed perusing the stacks.

This is an interesting library because it is inside of Mid City Mall. It doesn't have quite the…read moresame feel that you get with some of the larger branches but I love that this library exists here for accessibility. There is a book drop inside of the mall and one outside on the Bardstown Road side. Truthfully I usually order my books through the library's website and pick up when ready, but the few times I've browsed in this branch, there's still a decent selection of books. There are computers and printers for use and games and movies for borrowing as well. The library staff are really friendly and helpful when I come in!

So I swung by to return them and stopped in to see if there were any easily findable books that caught my eye to check out. It is small, but it was lively. Folks setting up for a meeting in side room, people using the computers and using reading spots. I love to see it. I found a few books to check out and take with me. And I appreciate that this location also has self-checkout. I miss that at my temporary home library location, with the Main branch being closed for a year. A good sized parking lot, shared with a senior community center, and just off the J-Town main drag. Love it.

I…read morelearned about the app "Libby" where you can listen to audiobooks and read digital books for FREE. That's right, free.99! I was also looking forward to using LinkedIn Learning (Lynda) to take advantage of free digital courses to enhance various skills. I was fortunate enough to be able to sign up for a card online but recently it expired and I had to go in to renew my membership. This LFPL was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. There was open computers available to use and it was quiet. Once the pandemic calms down, I would love to revisit again and bring my son. Just finished my first book for 2022 thanks to Libby!

Admittedly, I was returning…read morea DVD as the library was closing, but the librarian at the desk who took the DVD was pleasant and much more patient than I thought she'd be, given that the library was closing in one minute. I practically ran up to her desk letting her know that the DVD was due today. I didn't get a chance to look around much, but just based on her reaction (and the fact that I love libraries) I wouldn't mind going back to experience all that this library has to offer!
