Ms. Mary prepared my son so well for kindergarten, he is able to sound out words, counts to 100, writes his first and last name, cuts with scissors and so much more. This was an exceptionally hard year with COVID and Ms. Mary pivoted and made the necessary changes to her class environment to keep the kids successful and engaged. She even made calls during the lock down to check in with families and provided worksheets to stay on task. Prior to COVID Ms. Mary hosted birthday parties for the children at school, holiday parties, and fun family events. My husband and I enjoyed the Christmas celebration the best were the kids did a sing a long and dance, Santa made a visit, and parents were invited. We would still have our children enrolled if we had not moved out of the area. Ms. Mary treats all the children with such love and care. She is personally invested in your child's best interest. She still calls to check in on us. It is such a pleasure to have someone so equipped and nurturing to send your kids too. We can't recommend Appletree Preschool enough.

Tucked up in the hills above Whittier, it is removed from the noise and pace of the city below. There are trees, open sky, and a sense of calm that is hard to find elsewhere. In the mornings, you hear birdsong instead of traffic. That atmosphere carries into the classrooms. The exterior can feel a bit understated or even slightly worn. But that first impression doesn't reflect what's happening inside. The infant room, in particular, is remarkably peaceful. It has a quiet, steady rhythm that feels very intentional and reassuring for both children and parents. As children grow, the toddler and preschool rooms are warm and thoughtfully decorated, with clear care put into making them feel inviting and engaging. There is a strong emphasis on creative play and hands-on activities. Crafts, imaginative play, and exploration seem to be in the daily routine in a way that feels natural rather than forced. Another standout is the teacher-to-child ratio and the continuity of teachers. It allows for a level of attention and familiarity that is hard to find, and it shows in how well the staff know and interact with each child over the years. We moved from Pasadena and were genuinely surprised by the affordability, especially given the quality of care and environment. It is a rare combination of a nurturing setting, strong programming, and reasonable tuition. If you are looking for a smaller, more serene, and genuinely caring environment for your child, Hillcrest is well worth a visit.

I reached out to La Habra Montessori after doing research with La Habra moms groups and recommendations based on their child care in the area. I have a 18 month old and am currently pregnant, looking for enrollment for both my children in the future. We've reached out to multiple facilities and been given multiple tours based on our enrollment timeframe and had no issues until this facility. The first issue we ran into was the way we received our first email response. Despite my email to the "Director" being signed as my first and last name, the response I received was addressed to a Ms. (Maiden name). Confused, I responded, and clarified, both mine and my husband's name as well as our intent to tour their facility still. The response I received was again addressed as Ms. (maiden name). At this point it feels disrespectful, since I've now addressed what my name is twice and the response we're received hasn't reflected that knowledge. Curious to how (and why) the "Director" is addressing me this way I decided to just ask where they got that name from. Apparently my email icon shows my maiden name, unknown to my knowledge till this point (and never having this issue before). My issue is the lack of respect in addressing a potential client as the signed (and clarified) name, on not one but multiple response threads. There was a point when it seemed intentional in speaking down to me. Additionally to this, the response we received for our actual tour inquiry was to essentially "come back later". So we were declined a tour based on the timeframe of when we were hoping to start enrollment. No matter what our timeline is, we have questions that have now gone unanswered. Is this facility one that we're going to consider when the time comes? Likely not. It would have been nice to have our questions answered, meet the staff, and see the facility so we can narrow down our choices when the time comes to decide one of the most important choices of who to place your children in care with. Very unfortunate considering how close we are to this facility and the convenience it would have been for our family. Just based on this limited experience unfortunately our family cannot recommend reaching out.

When my daughters turned two and we started looking for a preschool it was extremely difficult to find a school thad had two opening until I contacted La Habra United Methodist Pre-school. Sandy was absolutely wonderful she meet with my husband and I to personally give us a tour, let my girls come and check out the school and meet her before their start date in January of 2020. Every was going great and then COVID hit and the school had to close (just like everything else). During their closure Sandy kept all the parents informed on when they hoped to reopen. When they finally did get the go ahead to reopen my twins return to school, but during that time we had started potty training we were fairly successful but in the first week of their return all accidents stopped! The teachers help get them to that next level that we were struggling with on the potty training but there is more. They have brought out their individuality. I couldn't have asked for a better preschool to take my daughters. I highly recommend this school.

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Aggressive and Hostile Behavior Towards My Children…read moreTo the Leadership of the French School: I am writing to express my profound disappointment and anger regarding a traumatic incident that occurred today at approximately 4:30 PM. My children are enrolled in a class held at your facility at 5:00 PM. As we often do, we arrived about half an hour early. My six-year-old child, feeling an urgent need to use the restroom, ran directly into the gym where their activities are typically held; I was unable to stop them in time. At that same moment, your staff member, Rod Lanthier, began shouting aggressively at my other child who was nearby. The situation became chaotic: I was forced to protect the child who was being shouted at outside, while Mr. Lanthier actively blocked me from entering the gym to retrieve my other child, preventing me from reaching them in time. This outburst terrified my children. They were so shaken that they immediately begged to leave, and they are now deeply distressed and unwilling to return to this facility because of the hostility and frightening behavior they experienced. It is entirely standard and reasonable for students and parents to arrive early for classes. If your organization lacks the kindness and patience to interact with children, your staff is clearly unfit for this environment. Please be advised that this matter is being taken very seriously. My children are deeply traumatized, and I will be seeking psychological support for them due to this incident. Consider this formal notice; you can expect to hear from our legal counsel shortly regarding Mr. Lanthier's actions. Sincerely, Paul

And I say so…read moreafter our two children having attended two other highly-regarded private schools in Orange County. What's so great about it? - The learning experience is unmatched: the teacher to student ratio is outstanding. It allows the children to learn faster, and more, a lot more! - The teachers and staff are excellent. But the big differentiator with other schools where that may be true too (perhaps not to the same extent though): everyone on staff cares! There is a great degree of accountability. - Safe! Courtesy of the Assistant Principal (Mr Rod) who is a retired Firefighter, everything is up to code and very well thought out. - Great facilities: this is a great little campus with a safe and ample parking lot for drop-off/pick-up and events, the classrooms are very nice, it's a safe building, and they have a great gymnasium for sports and weather days! - Super well organized. This school is a very well-oiled machine. We have two children in different classes this year. Not one hick-up, everything was extremely well communicated, and we even get a small paper reminder ahead of events or key items to remember. Only for French-speaking families? No! Think of this school as a top-tier school that will prepare students exceptionally well to continue in the public American system. It is designed for this (maths are in English etc.). The awesome benefit is that the children have a second language in their portfolio. So, do you need to already speak French to attend? No, unless entering at 3rd grade. You can have your children enter up to 2nd grade with no prior French experience. Should you tour this school? ABSOLUTELY! They are not pushy at all so there is really no strings attached. Ask to see the yearbook if they have one handy. You'll see how much effort they put into this school by just looking at it. It's amazing, and, included in your tuitions (and so are lunches on every single Friday of the year... as a parent, that's much appreciated!) Small school, great results.

I have a 4-year-old who is highly energetic and requires extra attention at times. I had a terrible experience with her first daycare (North Fullerton KinderCare) and had to pull her out after experiencing retaliation for reporting a teacher for abuse. I am the sole provider for my family so unfortunately staying home is not an option for me. I visited a couple of different daycares, explained my situation, asked a million questions and ultimately ended up deciding on CC's. My daughter adjusted to the change right away. The teachers were all nice, fun, and patient with her. My daughter doesn't respond well to grouchy teachers or to yelling, she tends to rebel more. Their approach for correcting her behavior worked because they paid attention to the little things that motivated her and their approach was not aggressive but rather compassionate. Michelle is resourceful and willing to help with information and resources, and she is very involved in the day to day. The communication and their way of handling every situation and behavior made all the difference. I knew my daughter was in good hands and because of that I had the peace of mind that I needed to be able to concentrate on work without the added stress that I was experiencing before. CC's was the best decision I ever made. She is now attending public school but I will definitely be taking her back for the summer.

They have clear communication on everything that's going on with the center (events, day to day activities, health checks, center closures) and you're given notice well in advance. Payment, check in/out, and communication are all done through Brightwheel (an app) and it's such a smooth process. Even though it's a bit modern, my in-laws (that are a bit older and have a harder time with technology) are still able use the app to pick up my daughter and enjoy the occasional pictures and videos that are sent through there. My daughter doesn't really take to strangers well. She did have an adjustment period but has soon blossomed in the infant classroom and loves her teachers. The teachers are caring and informative and we are so pleased with the kind of care they provide our daughter. And we know she's not the easiest baby. They have been able to help our child make huge progress with nap time and even with playing with other kids. I truly feel her personality has blossomed due to the work the infant room teachers put into our daughter. She always comes home happy from the day. The infant room itself (as well as the other rooms we toured in the facility) are also clean and does not have a smell. We toured other facilities where the smell was so strong it stayed with me the rest of the day and was actually one of the deciding factors in choosing CCs. My daughter also has an egg and milk allergy. They assigned high chair specifically for her and are always on the look out for any reactions from food. She recently outgrew her milk allergy but not the egg. During the recent mother's day Muffins with Mom's event, they provided a special vegan muffin for her so she can enjoy the event with me. The teacher running the event wasn't my daughter's regular teacher, but she recognized my daughter anyway and knew to offer me the vegan muffin. I was so touched by this gesture. We haven't had experience with the older classrooms, but have toured them and are rest assured my daughter will grow up well cared for and well educated here at CCs. We are excited for her to learn and grow here. We are so pleased with our experience that we've already reserved our spot for our next baby due in a few months. We highly recommend this daycare center and will recommend it to anyone look for care in the area.
