Home of the arch bishop and many priests and members of the Catholic Church organization. This beautiful classic style cathedral is massive and has an impressive campus. Walking in they have seat back chairs rang attach and make a semi circle around the stage and massive columns. The roof painted like the night sky of Bethlehem in the tale of Jesus birth is a nice elegant touch. I have visited this cathedral for a mass a handful a times from my nephews awards ceremonies and confirmations and recently to my own daughters confirmation. Overall a very lovely place to take in a mass and hold a special sacramental event such as confirmations or weddings. Being downtown you will have to street park or pay to garage park. I usually Park the adjoining 4th street live parking garage and it provides a close and easy place to park and get in and out.

Due to the Perpetual Adoration Chapel, the church is open 24/7 and there is always a security guard on duty. Saint Martin's is known for its commitment to beautiful music and liturgy, and features a semiprofessional choir at the 10:30 AM English Mass and 12:15 PM Latin Mass. About big push for small groups and women not being able to become pastors. I asked not in a rude or questioning manor. Simply for some clarification. I was told that they would contact me for a final interview to become a member. That call never came. When I questioned it, I was told that they felt my beliefs did not line up with theirs. That I might be happier attending church somewhere else.

It is a lovely, peaceful space with beautuful marble, statues and stained glass. The pews are not very comfortable and it was a bit chilly in the church but the choir preformed an excellent, powerful, dramatic program with numerous non traditional Christmas songs. The 15 to 20 piece orchestra was also exceptional and truely added to the performance. The Louisville Choir, a true Louisville gem.

As a convert from an another religion,( (Hindu) I found it extremely difficult to fit in many churches. Alliance drawled lot of internationals, which put me at great ease. The people are genuine and down to earth. Now, it merged with Life Point Church and it is wonderful! The message is positive, life-affirming, grace based and people are very friendly. I did not encounter the fundamentalism, legalism, Charismatic frenzy and weirdness that I have encountered in many churches I attended. The music and worship is inspiring and ecstatic without being out of control. I felt connected to God and was at peace as I worshiped. Also, it is extremely difficult to find an evangelical church as someone who is progressive, as many evangelicals embrace conservatism. That does not seem to be an issue here and never was an issue. I love their "come as you are attitude", because that is what Jesus taught. I will defiantly attend again.
