We took my wife's BMW 328i there to have the left low beam halogen headlight replaced. I had called earlier in the morning and was told that it would be about $40.00. When we got there, they advised us that it was a two hour job, but they could do it for $130.00. We told them to forget it and took it to Affordable Automotive. They replaced the bulb in fifteen minutes at a cost of $45.00 parts and labor. Needless to say, we won't ever be going back there. read more

Came in 5 o'clock on a Saturday for brake issues, thinking it was my brake pads, turns out my brakes were barely holding it together and the adhesive was gone, so once the pads came off everything fell off too. Don and his team worked ASAP to get me the parts and put me back together past closing. He helped negotiate the prices on the parts and made everything efficient, honest and fair. SUSPECT. Came to get a state inspection. I hate doing these because just about every time I go, and it does not matter the place they tell me the car is going to fail for some bogus reason. I've been around the car business a long time. My brother is a wholesale dealer out of Houston, and used to run a garage as well. He was never shady, but we talk about how shady shops can be. I was told it would take about 40 minutes at most an hour. It actually took 2 hours. The thing is, before I left my house 1 mile down the road I checked all signals, brake lights, and head lights. I checked the wiper blades because on 3 different occasions at other places over 10 years they have said there were "tears" in the wiper blades. Basically I was checking a lot of the little things they will fail you for , so they can up-sell you something. I actually made a video this morning of the actual perfect condition of the wiper blades in case that was going to be a reason today. Lo and behold they come back telling me that one of my bulbs was out!! After I just checked everything!! At this point what do you do? I was pressed for time as I told Milton up front , so they replaced it for an extra $20. They took an hour to do that. After it was done I said to him again, that I thought it was completely strange and that my bulb was out and that I checked before I drove a mile here. His response was that it was starting to burn out. Really?? Oh, by the way the other guy in the waiting room was told his center brake bulb was out. Who knows? What I do know is these types of places are infamous for this crap. I also listened in as they try to do classic up-sell to an older lady about "other problems" they noticed that they recommended she get fixed and that they could do it for her. Went in to get an oil change and to have a new headlight assembly installed. I usually take my vehicle to JL and JL always makes sure my windshield wiper fluid is replenished. Driver's Edge did not do this and am surprised it is not part of their oil change service. I was quoted $279 in labor (2.5 hours) just to install the headlight assembly in my Honda Accord. Completely unreasonable for this job as the only thing needed to be done is remove the front bumper for access to the assembly. Not only that, but at $279 for 2.5 hours of labor, that's over $100 an hour which again, is an unreasonable labor rate for the area. I went somewhere else the same day where they completed the work in one hour (my expectations were 1.5 for $80-$90/hr) for $70. That's about 75% less than what Driver's Edge quoted me!! Needless to say, I will not be back at Driver's Edge. read more

I have taken two different cars into their place with minor repairs (I thought they were going to be large repairs) and each time they were able fix my issue quickly and they did not charge me either time. I was ready to pay the customary garage fee each time, but they said don't worry about it. They are very professional and we will be back. Updating the review. Steve, their VP of sales called me, worked to get my minivan fixed. The oil leak that they had repaired, which still kept leaking was taken care of. This time around I was treated courteously as any customer should. The mechanics did their due diligence. For the 2500 I spent in vain, a partial refund and some store credit has been offered. I've taken it since it's better than nothing. I do appreciate the efforts the company has done to make things right. I still cannot give 5 stars for obvious reasons. I will upgrade my review to 3 stars for the customer service after I cried foul. read more

First off I am not one to post reviews but wanted to share. I Have taken my sons car here twice for repair quotes. The place is super close to home and clean the staff is nice. But each time their quotes are more than double. Than other local shops even big name shopsand I am not talking $50 vs $ 100 more like 1k vs 2.3k. And this was for identical repair same parts. It looks to me their labor cost are super high and along with their mark up on parts. They may do good work (I will never pay to find out)but I have no issues with repairs from the other shops and saved a quite a bit. My advise is get a second opinion before going with them read more

I was at this place a few days ago and the person at the register was very rude. The receipt had "written by: TOBY MARVIN" so I'm assuming that's him. I always go there since the place opened as we have 5 cars in our family. That day, I was there to change some parts of my car but I was really disgusted by his attitude. First Visit: Took my truck to get A/C fixed. Let them keep it two days. They replaced a couple of parts, but the A/C still wasn't working like it should. I decided to take it to the dealer for a 2nd opinion. It turned out to be something basic that only took 3 hours to fix. Second Visit: Took my truck in at 7AM to get power steering fixed. Was assured it could be completed that day. They ended up having my truck for 2.5 days before it was fixed. The manager claimed faulty parts were the reason it took so long. read more

Exceptional care and service time and time again. We've taken our car to Driver's Edge in the past and have always enjoyed their service. Keep in mind, there's good service and then there's great service... and anything above great (which is rare) is Exceptional. Driver's Edge gave us just that. Hands down Exceptional Service! I don't usually write online reviews; however, I felt the need to share my positive experience with this professional team at Driver's Edge especially during this recent visit. Long story short: Yesterday morning, June 30,2016, we noticed a huge oil leak from underneath my wife's car out in our driveway. We were shocked since her car is only 2 years old and should not be leaking oil. I immediately thought of Driver's Edge, which is just down the street from our house. I met Chris and he immediately took our car to inspect the problem. They discovered that the screw to the drain plug was loose and that the oil filter had a punctured hole in it, which is where most of the oil was leaking. Since my wife takes her car to the local dealership for all of her oil changes in the past, we knew where this problem originated. Ugh, dealership! Chris and his team tighten the drain plug, replaced the damaged filter, topped off the car with oil, and sent us on our way that morning.... All at no charge! Obviously, Driver's Edge put their customers first! From start to finish, Chris was nothing but professional, informative, and attentive to our needs. He went above and beyond and provided us with exceptional quality service. With the upcoming 4th of July weekend and our family road trip travel plans in just a couple of days, this could have been disastrous. Went in for a full synthetic oil change. The representative at the front desk is completely unprofessional. I point out that the cost of there oil change is significantly higher than the cost of the actual dealership. Drivers edge price is 94.38plus tax where as the dealerships full synthetic price is 63.99 for the 8 quarts of oil. I point this out and the representative says "our price starts at 83.99 before the coupon" with attitude. Good business means you are willing to price accordingly and not up charge based on where you are located. McKinney is notorious for this. Needless to say if I didn't have to go out of town drivers edge would not have received a dime from me. Nonetheless, they will never see another dime from me or ever receive a recommendation and referral. read more

I've never had a WORSE experience with getting my car worked on! I highly suggest just taking your automobile to your nearest Walmart before this place! The staff is untrusting and they don't care for your personal belongings. I've had my come out of that shop with my belonging stolen. When asked for solution, manager seeked no solution and provided no help. No cameras for help and just all around not some place you won't your car and belongings being trusted. I took my vehicle here for an alignment. They did a very poor job on the alignment. They only adjusted one wheel and moved it all the way to the limits. Now the steering wheel is crooked and they also over tightened every bolt they touched, now my new suspension that I spent almost $1500 on quality parts and now my vehicle rides terrible. To top this off, I took it back to them asking them to correct their poor work and they explained to me that they would not correct it because to do so they would have to start the alignment all over again. Um, I paid them to correct a problem, not to create another one. Also, my neighbor of 11 years later told me he took his truck here for some work an they quoted him over $2000 for the repairs, later he took it to the dealership for the same problem and they fixed the problem for about $600. Save yourself time, money and frustration... DON'T take your car here. read more

Fantastic customer service! They obviously care about honesty and integrity. A few days ago I was a competitors shop (who is about to get a angry review) for an oil change. I've got to watch my pennies, so I shop around for the best deal anytime I need any car maintenance. Anyway, at the competitors shop, I was told that while changing my oil they noticed uneven wearing on my tires and they strongly recommended I get my tires rotated (which they could happily do for $) and have an alignment done ($$). Being the end of the month, I told them just to do the rotation and I'd schedule a time after payday for the alignment. Having not had an alignment done around here (I'm new to Texas), I googled local shops. Google's reviews give Driver's Edge nearly 5 stars. So I called to see how much an alignment would be. Due to a special, it was going to be significantly cheaper than the competitor I used for my oil change, which was enough to sway me to give them a try. I'm so glad I did. I took it in around lunchtime today. About 15 minutes after arriving, a tech came into the waiting-room looking a bit puzzled. He asked me what had prompted me to come in today. I explained what the competitor had told me, that my tires were wearing unevenly. The tech handed me a computer-run alignment diagnostic sheet and showed me that all the numbers were in the normal ranges and nothing was wrong with my alignment. He said he had physically inspected the tires and didn't feel or see any uneven wear anywhere. I was flabbergasted. I thanked him sincerely for being so honest with me and asked what I owed for the diagnostic test. He smiled, said "nothing" and sent me on my way. I have heard stories of car companies taking advantage of unaware customers, especially women, but had never experienced it before. I can't believe the other store out right lied to me just to make a few extra dollars. Needless to say, I wont go back to that other shop. Driver's Edge has gained a new loyal customer. read more

This place is comical. Got a quote to replace a oil pressure sensor on a Yukon. 3 1/2 hours labor and $170 part cost... to just over $600. I asked why the part was so expensive (when I had the code read at autozone, they have the part at $70)... i was then told how important it was to use a AC Delco (gm oem) part because how labor intensive this repair was... while he was talking... I googled, and purchased the part directly from AC Delco on amazon for $30... I understand mark up... but 560%? Really?! So I googled the repair and watch a 6 min video of a guy doing the exact repair in 15 min... 3 1/2 hour labor? So, needless to say.. I took my business elsewhere... with my purchased part I found a shop that did the repair for $125 (1.2 hours labor) plus tax... so I'll agree with the other reviews... they didn't try to sell me unnecessary repairs... they just tried to overcharge for the needed repair... but you know... the building looks nice and they have free coffee... so there's that read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! I would give zero stars, if possible. Toby, who claims to be the General Manager, is beyond rude and entirely unhelpful. I took a strut up to Driver's Edge to have it put together since I did not have the large tool required. The manager was very nice to help me get the strut put together. I paid him for the Service and left. I attempted to put the strut on my car and realized, they did not align it properly, so I took it back up the next day. The manager was not there but Toby was. I talked to Toby and he REFUSED to help me, although the day before his manager was HAPPY to help me. Now Toby plans to fire his manager for helping me!!! WHAT A HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PERSON YOU ARE, TOBY!!! When I asked Toby to at least dismantle the work they did, he again REFUSED and started yelling at me. He has no idea what customer service is and lacks the ability to handle people appropriately in his type of position. I asked to talk to the owner of the business and Toby hung up on me. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS PLACE. They just cost me $300 for struts that I cannot return because they put them together wrong. read more

Outstanding Service! I had my vehicle towed to Driver's Edge the morning before Thanksgiving, around 9:30am because it wouldn't start or take a jump. I had to rent a car so I could do my job that day. Since they and the rental place were going to be closed on Thanksgiving, if they couldn't complete the repair before closing, I'd have to pay for the rental until Friday. Damon called around midday to say it was the alternator and the battery, and he said he would try to have it done by closing. Damon called back around 4pm to say the part just came in and he would definitely get it done today, so I could go ahead and return my rental. I was thrilled, now I was trying to figure out how I was going to get from the rental place to Driver's Edge and Damon even said since it was within 5 miles he'd send someone to pick me up! WOW, I didn't expect that, this really took care of me. We pulled into the parking lot 5 minutes before closing, yet they still took the time to explain the work they did as well as the warranty on both the battery and the alternator and wrote it out on the bill for me. I feel I got outstanding service on what had to be a very busy day for them, and they saved me quite a bit of money by getting me out of the rental the same day. Thanks guys! read more

My son took my sister's 1995 Yukon in to have it inspected. He was told they couldn't inspect any vehicle over 20 years old and the only place that did was in Frisco. They told him it would have to be hooked up to tubes and inspected the old way. I went to the Texas DPS site and found vehicles over 20 years old were exempt from emissions testing. Called the Firestone where I do business, where I told him to take it, and they said vehicles over 20 years are not an emissions test and are only required to have a safety inspection. If they don't know this then what else do they not know? read more

This place has really gone down hill over the past year. I brought my car in for an estimate and the guy behind the counter, Chris I believe his name was, was absolutely no hurry to get off his cell phone playing a game. I know that because I sat and watched him doing it. Then his lackluster enthusiasm to help me was apparent by his bad attitude and complete lack of professionalism. We own 5 cars and were hoping to start a long relationship with the neighborhood repair shop but after he got off the phone with my husband it was very apparent he didn't know what he was talking about. My husband was in the repair business for 15 years and after hearing the completely wrong information on both how the repair need to be done and the reasoning for the failure we decided on going to a place with actual automotive repair knowledge. When he found out we were not going to pay the above dealer cost on non dealer parts from the local parts house(we cross referenced the prices) he all but pushed us out the door. I wish I'd read the other reviews before taking anything we own up to them. It's apparently hit or miss with these guys. BUYER BEWARE.
