Unfortunately after spending 12 months living in India and South East Asia (and drinking a fair amount of sweetened masala chai each day) I came back to find out I needed 5 fillings - ouch! So it's with this in mind that every trip to the dentists is now a case of "God I hope this is just a quick in and out affair" and luckily it has been since the initial painful seatings! Manchester Dental Practice is situated just above the Ruby Lounge on the high street and the staff are always pretty friendly, the dentists and assistants are always pretty young guys and up for a chat/laugh. I've never has any problems with bookings here and you can change an appointment with 48 hours notice without being charged. They also have a hygienist that you can see at the same time as check ups if you book in advance!

Manchester Dental Practice is near my office and seemed to have the least arduous booking process of the city centre dentists - I turned up, filled in a form, paid a £10 deposit and was offered a pretty convenient appointment. My dentist was friendly and professional, as was his assistant. His advice on maintaining dental health was realistic and achievable, ie. you don't need to quit sugar just reduce how regularly you have sugary foods and drinks; try to floss 3x a week if you can't do it every day. He also didn't try to talk to me while I couldn't speak, which my old dentist always did, so annoying! Reception staff were all very friendly and helpful. Overall it was about as good a trip to the dentist as you could hope for!

While the facilities might not be as modern as my previous dentist, Ocean Dental, I find it much easier to get an appointment here and the staff are also much more friendly and accommodating, and you feel a greater degree of care, rather than feeling like a burden. The staff at Fogg & Whittingham Surgery really do seem to care and provide excellent quality dental treatment. I have generally been seen rather close to the appointment time, although the waiting room can get rather busy, they do have a lot of dentists working to meet the demand. If you're visiting via car, there is only street parking available on residential streets nearby, so do arrive on time for parking.

Although it is a private dentist i never feel like they are trying to carry out unnecssary work and they will only do what is required. They help me make the most of my dental allowance from my insurance policy and send you both e-mail and text reminders which is great as i often book appoinments at 6 month intervals. Imram my dentist and Rachel the hygienist are lovely and i trust them both implicitly to take care of my teeth nd kerp everything on tip top condition. If you are needing a dentist in th city centre i recommend this one. They can offer pay monthly schmes and often do seasonal tooth care packages.

I was in incredible pain, and was dubious that id be able to find a dentist that would accept me - i thought id have to wait until i was home and then make an appointment there. As i say, they were able to see me at short notice and i found the dental practice to be quite a relaxing place and the dentist that i saw put me at my ease. After about 40 minutes of dental work my condition was stabilised and i was out of pain and able to continue my trip. I felt the dental charges were quite high, but i couldnt fault there service in any way and if i lived closeby i would probably use them again.

I searched online for dentists near me and New Cross Dental Surgery was just minutes away so I thought I would give it a try. Registering was really easy and they got me an appointment within a couple of weeks. They text me to remind me of my appointment as well which I liked since I am always rushing around! I arrived slightly early for my appointment and the waiting room was very busy! I ended up waiting 30 minutes after my appointment time along with other disgruntled patients. I didn't mind too much as I didn't have much on that day but had I had to go back to work I wouldn't of been too pleased. The dentist was lovely, not intimidating at all and made me feel very relaxed. I have been told I will receive a text to remind me to book again in six months which helps me to keep on top of things. So as far as dentists go I was pretty pleased with my decision.

Ocean Dental is a rather nice, private dentist in Central Manchester, this is one of their two…read morelocations in the city, as I recall they also have another location in Fallowfield. It is also worth noting they still do NHS patients but haven't taken any on for about two years now, which I was told at the front desk when originally signing up. Inside, it is quite modern with a fish fountain and nice views of Cross Street, overlooking the Royal Exchange Theatre due to its' central location in Manchester, on the second floor of Boots meaning you can get into here from the Manchester Arndale, Market Street or Cross Street and navigate your way through Boots to the lifts which take you up to the second floor, if you don't want to walk through Boots then your best option would be to enter through Cross Street and take the lift straight up. Most of the Reception staff here did seem quite nice, inside it did seem quite modern, even as you went into the "dentist counter", there were fish tanks etc painted on the glass doors, even a disabled toilet with rather nice smelling hand lotion and soap from a premium brand. The toilets of course were clean. Technology here was also really impressive, they was able to do an x-ray on my teeth and show it on the tv screen/computer monitor in front of me, almost straight away, they had also scanned in my documentation and showed me everything on the screen to confirm. I did have some trouble with my treatment at my check up on my first appointment, where I had to have some scrapping done from my teeth which was quite painful and left an awful feeling, quite distress and pain on my teeth even up to a day later which was a shame, I didn't like how it seemed two dentists were forcing things deep down my mouth at once, one with water and air, the other with a tool to scrape off my teeth, it felt like I was a machine, not a human, the dentist seemed to know what they was doing but didn't really explain why they were doing it, and what I could do to avoid it happening again. I was in and out rather quickly, as I was seen before my appointment so that was good, and while considering this and the great, central location in Manchester and the cool, modern vibe of the practice this is one of the nicer Dental practices to go, but due to some slight issues with my treatment and the dentist its-self, I feel they only deserve three stars here, which I do feel is slightly generous but I look forward to updating my review after my next appointment in three months time, where things might have changed slightly as this visit was my first time I've visited the Dentists in probably three years.
