My daughter was having feelings of being unable to understand math the way I was able to explain it. Math is a language. Helping your child learn that language is impossible if you do not speak that language with the same accent or in the same dialect as your child. I decided it was time to try private tutoring. We contracted with Bethany for twice weekly hour long sessions at first. Initially we drove to her home. Here we are, entering our seventh year of 1:1 tutoring with Bethany and we still feel this is the best decision we've made with regard to our daughter's math education. In fact, our daughter graduated Cum Laude from high school in May 2023 but wants to continue to work with Bethany! They are working on higher level mathematics now! They now meet online 1:1 for 50 minutes weekly. Our daughter took a gap year after graduation because she is working as the TA for the dean of her high school, as well as taking a class at our local community college before she leaves for college in September. She plans to continue working with Bethany until she is no longer able to. We highly recommend Bethany for math tutoring!

Not only does Malena offer flexible times for lessons, but her rates are totally feasible, and she's even more flexible now with the option of video lessons. My son was literally failing his junior math class, and I was at my wit's end with trying to help…read morehim. For two years, I tried to help my son. I watched math videos, tried to teach myself the material...and I was spending over three hours a day on this, to no avail. I tried a private tutor, also to no avail. My poor son was embarrassed, depressed, talked frequently about how stupid he was, and subsequently, he often avoided even trying to learn because he felt as though no matter how hard he worked, he could never understand the material. It was all awful. Then we found Mathnasium! My kid was hesitant at first, because he thought it would just be for younger students and that he'd stand out as a high school student, but after his first session, he's never once hesitated to go. Not only are the instructors clearly great educators who have figured out how to reach my son and understand his learning style, but they have made him so, so comfortable during his visits. Truly, it was a matter of four sessions before we save an improvement, and my son now has a B in his class. From an F to a B? Wow. I am stunned, elated, and incredibly grateful to have this program available. Additionally, I get regular emails and texts from the director and staff, checking in to see how I'm feeling, if I have questions, etc. I cannot say enough about Mathnasium. I hired Mathnasium to help my two children with their math struggles starting back on June 24th…read more2022. As of today I've paid them $4,243 to tutor my kids to pass in math in their 5th and 7th grade math. When we started last June it looked promising, I was told to be effective to bring my kids twice a week for an hour each time. I brought my kids on this recommended schedule only to find my kids still continuing to fall behind in math. I brought this to the attention of the owner Richard and he advised to link up with the kids school teachers (which would have been helpful on the front end) only for this to continue to hold my kids back. The math the kids were working on was from too far back in time and not the current issues they were having in school to pass. I would bring them every Tuesday and Thursday night from 4-5PM or from 5-6PM and they were still falling behind. Spending $529/month for two kids to fall behind in school for 7 months I had to halt services because I can't afford to send money after bad money that isn't helping my children succeed in school. Richard has now not only charged me for another month and wont give a full refund for this month since we will no longer be using Mathnasium but has also blamed me for my kids not succeeding more in math by not bringing the kids to Mathnasium more times a week. The kids also have other subjects in school so all of our time can not be fully consumed by Mathnasium. Seven months of two times a week for an hour each session of regular attendance should yield results. I'm not only dissatisfied by this company, but devastated to have invested so much money and time into something that didn't work. I feel lied to and taken advantage of and insulted by the owner. The ultimate horrible reality is that my kids suffered the most as a result of this scam company.

Solomon came to help my daughter Chloe, an A+ student, as she struggled during her high school…read moresenior year with AP Calc and AP Physics. These courses were the toughest in the school and caused great stress to a student who had typically done very well in both math and science throughout her school years. Solomon tutored Chloe through the basics of both courses with both a deep understanding of these two subjects as well as his ability to communicate concepts clearly. This was especially important for Physics as it had become obvious to all of us that Chloe's teacher possessed very poor teaching and communication skills. Thus Solomon had to function as Chloe's actual Physics TEACHER as well as her tutor. His demeanor was hugely valuable too as his fine sense of humor and personally-supportive nature transformed the atmosphere of the process into one that was positive and confidence-building. This greatly alleviated much of Chloe's coursework anxiety. In the end, the results spoke for themselves: Chloe's initial C-range grades rose to A-minuses in both courses within one semester, undoubtedly contributing to her eventual college acceptance by Columbia and five other top schools, plus waitlists at Harvard, Yale and Swarthmore. Without Solomon's involvement, I am certain such happy outcomes would not have occurred.
