Military & Government Travelers avoid this property!…read more I stayed at this hotel while traveling on official government assignment. My assignment was unexpectedly canceled on the final day, forcing a change in departure timing. I checked out approximately 30 minutes past the posted checkout time. All of my luggage had already been removed from the room and I was in the process of leaving the property. Despite this, the manager refused any flexibility and charged me for an additional full night. I contacted Hilton corporate customer service and was advised that the decision was entirely at the discretion of the individual property's management and ownership. I fully understand hotels have policies. However, anyone familiar with military or government travel knows schedules and orders can change without warning and are not within the traveler's control. A 30-minute overage, with a vacant room, resulting in a full additional night's charge shows a lack of reasonable accommodation and customer consideration. If you are military or a government contractor traveling on orders, I strongly recommend avoiding this property.

The gym had so many options to choose from. The complimentary breakfast had a lot of variety, and the hot dishes changed each day I am a Hilton Honors member, and I always appreciate it when they acknowledge that. In my room they had the TV turned on, and it had a neat message welcoming my by name to their hotel Some tips: Definitely take advantage of the complementary breakfast. I was thoroughly impressed by the options. The gym is a nice place to unwind, and there are weights, machines, yoga gear, and even towels in a refrigerated area. Although I didn't try it, the outdoor pool looked inviting. And there is also an area to play pool and other games. When you arrive or depart the hotel grab some complimentary popcorn, warm cookies, or bottled water. The staff is more than happy to oblige Cheers!!

Like literally non-stop. You would get juice and they'd be behind you wiping everything down. Very very clean. It's a modern hotel with an open concept. Kinda too open, for my tastes. The room was bright and airy and clean. But I don't get on board with no drawers. Open closet and fridge area. So like no privacy. No place for dirty underwear and such. Ya feel me? Also no coffee maker in the room. I don't know when I've last seen that!! There was no way to make coffee or even hot water in the room. But down in the lobby, there was hot water and coffee-on-demand (caffeinated and caffeine-free) 24/7. So I cannot complain. All of the staff were very friendly. The breakfast offerings were fine. But just know that they did not have pancakes or waffles. I don't know about you, but my kids expect one or the other. One of my kids has allergies and texture issues that really limit what he can eat and pancakes/waffles are a safe bet for him. But he made due with the turkey sausage patties and breakfast potatoes. Also I'll say the breakfast area is cramped. Not the seating area. The food area. Everything is kinda on top of each other so it bottlenecks up pretty badly. Hmmm this review sounds critical but I was actually pleased with our stay. Oh except our room temperature. It was hot and muggy in our room. But seriously! It was a good stay!

I'm not too familiar with the area so I asked the front desk employee for some recommendations on where to eat. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. Let's just say I was very full and satisfied. We dropped our bags and went to dinner. Upon returning to the room we tried to take a nap but there was housekeepers yelling and making any chance of rest impossible. The front desk would not answer the phone so i had to chat with them through the hilton app. By this time the people above us decided they wanted to jump off their bed and run around their room for hours. Repeat messages through chat snd the desk assured me there was no noise because they sent someone to check. I asked that the manager call me and to dste i havent gotten a call. I have been a Hilton diamond member for 5 years and this is the worst experience at any Hilton and absolutely no care from the manager.

Unfortunately, this past stay we did experience a broken thermostat. However, Mars at the front desk handled our problem swiftly and professionally. We will always recommend Homes2 Suites wherever we go BUT especially this location in Hattiesburg!! Fantastic job handling an uncomfortable and unfortunate problem!

An hour and a half later it was still 75° in the room even though I said it to 65°. I called downstairs and they gave me some points back for that. The very next day they changed out the AC unit in the room and it works just fine now. The next issue is my TV was not working. I could not turn it off or on or change channels with the remote. I could not do the same thing with the actual TV buttons as well. So they fix that too. So since they were prompt and fixing things, the hotel is not too bad. The hotel is not too bad. Once I got here parking was pretty much taken up since some workers are parking their vehicles diagonally instead of straight in since they have trailers so parking was hard to find. Other than that, the room is nice. The bed is nice and comfortable as well. I do not like that. My King bedroom doesn't have the little freezer part since I stayed here a few days and wanted colder items. You have to request our own service or service towels because they don't do it every day. I would stay away from the bar and getting specialty type drinks. I ordered an old-fashioned and it was more like a no fashion. He simply put the whiskey in with a maraschino cherry and poured maraschino cherry juice in there and served it to me. I have been drinking these for decades now it's been the worst. Never again.

Cons: -Definitely not the vibe I expect at the Doubletree. The decor was bad. Every area was white, bright and felt sterile and stressful (and I work in an operating room. lol). The lighting hurt my eyes bouncing off the utilitarian white paint from the time we walked in. The bar and rooms were no better. - the curtains in our room were ripped, the bed had a hole in it. I know it was recently purchased and is being revamped, but torn curtains and holes in furniture? - food and drink selection was poor. The wine was gas station quality. There are so many good quality wines that are similarly priced to avoid that trashy brand. Whoever thought that these brands were a good idea- does not drink wine and wanted to save a penny. It really speaks to a lack of quality and care. The morning breakfast was ok- more like a cheaper hotel and not like a name I used to associate with luxury. The fruit selection was whole oranges in a bowl. - In general - everything I would expect from a ... Express brand or Garden Inn variety, not a semi luxury brand. Overall, I would stay somewhere cheaper since it's the same quality level.
