Mark Probst has been outstanding from the moment we met him, and he continues to be a faithful advisor since we closed on the property he helped us acquire -- nothing short of a miracle! Years ago to more happily raise our daughter, we began locating our architecture office adjacent to wherever we lived -- and we've lived in many places and renovated all of them ourselves. We still value the convenience of a live-work arrangement and we still love renovating, so when we sought a real estate agent to help us buy a suitable property, it was critical that the agent would truly understand our requirements. Mark Probst spent an afternoon with us in our live-work rental; he looked at our current office and studied images of all our previous live-work arrangements. He is a great listener and a great nurturer -- especially for those of us new to the craziness of the California real estate market. Shortly after beginning to work with Mark, we complicated our search when our daughter and her boyfriend decided to look with us for a duplex with outdoor space for a sizable urban vegetable garden in a limited area no more than 20 minutes from her school. Because we were competing against motivated and aggressive investors, despite Mark's swift processing of our offers we continued to lose properties. Then Mark performed his miracle. The very first property Mark had asked us to look was already under contract, but Mark wanted us to visit the small and (in his opinion) highly undervalued neighborhood. (You'll have to engage Mark to discover the little known neighborhood. It's his trade secret for now.) We not only liked the neighborhood, but we really appreciated the under-contract duplex. It needed TLC, but had great bones plus outstanding front and back yards. It was Mark's surprise for us. The owner was reluctant, but Mark and his colleague Danny Batsalkin were tenacious, we closed recently (and the previous owner seemed to us quite satisfied with Danny and Mark -- a win-win for both seller and buyer), and now we and our daughter and her boyfriend are preparing renovation plans and expecting to move in by mid-summer -- and start our vegetable garden.
