He knew everyone on first name terms and there was a great sense of trust back then. I remember my father paying his bill every month . Times have changed and I fear the same relationship no longer exists in the big stores. Aidan has long retired and the store no longer exists unfortunately. The arch and the snow wall allow people to pass in and out. A small museum was also located next to the arch. It was not open when I was there. You can stroll along the river and walk through the arch.

Couldn't wait to get home to make my own blackcurrent jam. Wish there was a shop like it in Kingscourt Co Cavan. The new owners are really pleasent as well and very informative about their products and the shop they now own.
