I sent an inquiry to duBrule through their website's contact form to set up a consultation appointment. And I waited. Forty-four days later, I am still waiting to set up an appointment. My initial inquiry was sent forty-four days ago. I filled out the contact form on their website and chose their Victoria office. Ten days passed and I did not hear back from them, so I sent another inquiry. Another week would pass before I sent a third inquiry - this time to their Vancouver office. They finally responded....by leaving multiple messages left on my phone, - a mandatory field on their contact form that needed to be completed before submitting an inquiry. However, I specifically requested no phone calls on my inquiry. Finally, they contacted me through email. I thanked them for finally adhering to my contact preferences. I told them I was hearing-impaired and cannot use the phone. That is why I prefer communicating via email. A few days later, a duBrule representative emailed me and assured me "No problem. Even though our Victoria offices only offers fitting and grooming services, we will set up your consultation appointment for there!". I thanked her for duBrule's willingness to accommodate my disability needs. And I responded to her questions as to what I was seeking so they had a better idea in advance of the anticipated consultation. I sent the email. And I waited. And waited. Finally, three weeks later I heard back from the rep. She profusely apologized for her tardiness in response because "I am a technician and we don't normally check this email account". She threw out some dates to book a consultation and so I responded to her email. And I waited. And today I am still waiting. Today is day 44 and I still don't have a consultation appointment. Since then, I have had consultation appointments and responses from four other hair restoration places who placed my disability needs in front of their needs for a quick hard sale by telephone. All said, I haven't made a decision yet because I'm in no rush. I haven't ruled out duBrule's yet because , if for no other reason, I am both fascinated and a little more than a bit morbidly curious as to how this will play out....assuming, of course, they respond to my last email before I have perished in my latter years. Besides, I'm always looking for a silver lining. As I am quite well known in a number of hair restoration forums, I might have a doozy of a story to report back to the gang. They would love it. :) In any event, I'm hardly impressed with the good folk at duBrule. If they can't respond to their email contact forms because they have anybody accessing them on a regular basis, then why have a contact form at all? And if someone does have to access emails that isn't normally part of their job, why can't the person jot down a simple reminder on a sticky note or whatever to see if so-and-so has taken the time to respond to the email they sent out a week or so ago? This would show the customer they truly do care about them. And so I continue to wait - seven weeks later for a consultation appointment. I probably won't go with duBrule. I'm utterly amazed at their incompetencies. The four other hair restoration businesses I have connected with have all responded in due course and have long since provided me with consultations, answered my questions, and provided me with estimates to make an informed decision...all by email. Email seems like such a radical communications approach with duBrule. The bottom line: If a company can't meet your personal physical needs by using one of the most widely accepted alternatives to the telephone in this 21st century, why would anyone want to entrust them with their personal grooming needs? I started going to Dubrules last November with full confidence I was going to be "take care of", so to speak. Going in, I was given the best of the best hair, they call it the Ferrari. Don't be fooled, they hook you in with the monthly plan, total scam. You get "new hair" every 6 weeks... this was my plan for about $500 per month. The hair lasted 3 weeks at best, I wore a hat 50% of the time. Do waste your money or time and do NOT trust the "owner", Yvonne, or Judy in sales. Months of complaints regarding the hair falling out, visible front hairlines and and product inconsistency we're never addressed until I told them I was cancelling. I just wanted to send you out a HUGE THANK YOU!!! I'm a 46 year old women. I was suffering from hair loss. I was finding more and more hair in my brush and I was freaking out. I didn't know what to do. I goggled "Hair loss Victoria BC" To see if there was someone I could go talk to. It was in the mist of the Covid shut down so there was nothing I could do. I came across your webpage and started reading your blog. A post from 2018 on Thyroid. You have changed my life. I asked my doctor to order all the blood test you suggested. I already knew I had hypothyroidism and I was on Synthroid with a level and normal TSH. However I continued to feel like crap and my hair was falling out. I was sent to an endocrinologist who sent me for further tests. It was found out that I have a vitamin D deficiency; which I'm being supplemented for. I've also been switched to a combination T4/T3 thyroid med at your blogs suggestion. It's only been two weeks but I feel more like me again. I feel more awake. I learned about du Brule recently through a Google search. I was contacted by an employee (sales representative?), Judy, when I requested a consultation to learn more about their services as I was interested in purchasing a wig. Judy said that she had 8 years in this industry so when she suggested a full wig, despite the fact that I have quite a substantial amount of hair remaining, I did not question her advice. As someone experiencing hair loss only recently, what did I know? Admittedly, it is a quality wig (this I have no qualms about), although it is quite expensive (~$4,000). Judy and a stylist from du Brule, told me that I was supposed to leave my natural hair out of the bottom of the wig. However, I struggled with the wig slipping and moving. I was told that I just needed to practice using the wig. I later learned when I brought the wig to another business because I continued to struggle with the wig slipping, that this type of wig was entirely inappropriate for someone with my stage of hair loss and that it was meant for someone with no hair. Moreover, I later learned that I was supposed to tuck all of my hair into the piece, not let it hang out of the bottom. I ended up having to purchase, from this other business, a head cap and a particular band in order to simply use the wig currently. I am disappointed that someone with so much experience in this industry would recommend something so unsuitable, in particular, given the investment required. The circumstances that led to such a negative rating from me is because of how Judy acted throughout the process, after the initial consultation. TL:DR: Instead of being honest with me about having to reschedule an appointment, Judy attempted to put the blame on me for a "miscommunication" about the purpose for the appointment and blamed a new staff member for not knowing "the system". Judy lied that I was only scheduled to "pick up a wig" when I was clearly scheduled (per the multiple reminder emails) for 2 hours as a "new client". I had an appointment scheduled to colour and style my hair (since I was told that I was supposed to let my natural hair hang out of the bottom of the wig) and the wig (because I have dark hair and the wig only comes in brunette and lighter). The appointment was scheduled for 2 hours and I received at least two email confirmations. On the day of my appointment, only a few hours before the appointment, du Brule called me to say that they had a conflict and had to reschedule me. Only after I inquired further, I was told that it was actually because a stylist called in sick. Shortly thereafter, I was contacted by Judy. She excitedly told me that my wig came in and she imagined I was happy to pick it up. I told her that I was scheduled to come in for a colour job and styling. She said that I must have miscommunicated with du Brule because I was only scheduled in their system to pick up the wig. I find it entirely unbelievable that someone would schedule a 2 hour appointment simply to "pick up a wig", especially when Judy knows the colour of my hair (black) and that the wig is brunette and claims to have 8 years of experience. I mentioned that someone told me a stylist had actually called in sick which is why they were rescheduling. Judy said that the person I spoke with before "is new" and "doesn't know the system". read more

I learned about this place a year ago when I had to do a google search for "Hair Loss Vancouver" and these guys came on the top of the search engine. My mom was going through some explainable hair thinning at loss at the time, therefore, did some e-work for her. I came in to get some information and to get to know the company more as they were with me. Yvonne was amazing. She has the best people skills that I've come across. They use high quality hair solutions and private rooms. The staff are amazing. Thankfully my mom didn't need to use this after all as it ended up being her medication, however, I was very impressed with this company as a whole. It is located inside City Square Mall, however, if you get lost don't feel bad. I got lost the first time. Thankfully the amazing receptionist Stephanie was patient in leading me up to their nice office with a view. This is a review based on communication which is hugely important to me. read more
