This place came highly recommended by some coworkers in Kansas City, Missouri. They raved about it so much that when I got back from my training in Kansas, I knew I had to check it out for myself. Once I mentioned it to my coworkers here in St. Louis, they insisted I try the fish sandwich, which they swore by. The restaurant is about a nine-minute drive from my workplace, located just off Highway 44 and 141. It's tucked away in an industrial area, and you'd never know it was there unless someone told you about it--there's no big signage or flashy advertisement. In my experience, places like this--hidden gems discovered by word of mouth--often turn out to be the best. When I walked in, the atmosphere immediately felt warm and inviting. A friendly man greeted me at the front desk and enthusiastically told me about the cakes he had made that were available for purchase that day. It's rare to find that kind of personal touch in restaurants, and it added to the charm. While waiting for my food, I noticed the decor, which was eclectic and full of personality. The walls were adorned with handmade art created from bottles, license plates, and other upcycled materials. It was visually stunning, and I couldn't resist snapping a few photos to capture the creativity of the space. Though I initially planned to take my order to go, the atmosphere made me linger for a bit. The fries were so good that I couldn't even wait to get back to work--I found myself sneaking a few on the drive. They were perfectly crisp and seasoned, absolutely addictive. The fish sandwich (a catfish po'boy) was also delicious, though I did have some suspicions that it might not have been true catfish. It tasted more like swai, which has a milder flavor and lacks the distinct "fishy" aroma of catfish. Either way, the sandwich was satisfying and well worth the recommendation. If you've never been to this little hidden market, I highly recommend making the trip, especially on a Friday when they serve their famous catfish. It's the kind of place that leaves an impression--not just because of the food, but because of the overall experience. Between the welcoming service, unique decor, and delicious menu, it's a spot you'll want to tell your friends about too.

A nice selection of old-fashioned drinks.

We accompanied a friend to this quiet but very enjoyable local market, where we found a charming atmosphere that reminded us of a place one would find on the River Road between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. I especially appreciated the red beans and rice, and the tasty, well-spiced gumbo. The young gentleman at the front counter could not have been more pleasant! Thank you for a delightful afternoon.

Glad we made the trip from St. Charles (less than 30 minutes). One of the best bologna sandwiches I have ever had. My wife was happy withe the burger. We will return.

What a cool stop! Upon pulling up I could tell this place is beloved by the locals. I was greeted right away by the nicest young man. He helped me with the menu and gave great suggestions. The market seems to be run by a dad and his two sons. If only I could marry into this family. You order at the counter and then walk your slip back to the kitchen. They've done a great job making the stop homey and welcoming. Now to the goods... if they have the banana bread buy it! Best 3$ I have ever spent. I ordered the cheese burger plain and it was so crispy! The bun was fresh and the cheese tasty. The Potato salad that was suggested was rich, very creamy and full of a delicious mustard flavor. If you find yourself nearby do yourself a favor and stop in. The front is a market with fishing supplies, snacks, beer and grab and go options.

When we arrived, the restaurant did seem a little understaffed, so service was slower than usual, but thankfully I had made a reservation and we had no trouble getting seated. Even with the wait, the staff was kind and doing their best, which was totally understandable. I ordered the Zydeco pasta with crawfish, and we also shared the jambalaya casserole. Both dishes were fantastic. The pasta was basically like a rich, flavorful lobster mac & cheese -- absolutely delicious. The jambalaya casserole was topped with this amazing cheesy sauce that made it even better. The restaurant itself was such a cute spot, with way more seating than I expected, including an adorable patio in the back. Overall, such a charming place with amazing comfort food. Definitely a spot I'd come back to 100%.

The dining area was clean with a nice stamped concrete floor, had loads of natural light with huge windows in the back, and it had a beautiful New Orleans mural in the back. We wished for a bigger dish for the small cups of gumbo and red beans and rice because they were so good! I'm sure they'd come a bit more seasoned or spicer in the south, but in MO, they seemed to tame it down a bit - still delicious though! (And there are two hot sauces and a Cajun spice blend at the table.) The wedge salad with the homemade blue cheese dressing was delicious!! I'd order the dressing on the side though - our salad was swimming a bit... Enjoy your stop!!

I enjoyed devouring a burger today . The salad with raspberry vinegaret dressing was delicious. The yellow rice was tasty. Customer service is usually excellent. Colleen wasn't on top of everything today. She didn't do a horrible job, but I expected to see her more . Originally I asked for water with no lemon to drink. She brought me a water with lemon. She left before I could remind her that I didn't want and lemon. I took her a while to come back to the table to take our orders. After placing my order I asked for water with no lemon. She brought me another glass with no lemon. Although her service did not meet my expectations, I didn't let it affect my dining here today. I also had barbecue wings for an appetizer. Those were good. They were crispy. But I like the Cajun honey hot wings much better.

We rolled into Gulf Shores ready for bold Cajun flavors, loose vibes, and a little bayou magic --…read moreand while not everything slapped like a Zydeco drum, we still had ourselves a real good time. Now listen... for me, the flavors didn't quite punch me in the mouth the way true Cajun food should. I wanted a little more "who made this roux and how long did they stir it?" energy. BUT -- and this matters -- everything was fresh, well-cooked, and genuinely delicious. No frozen-tasting foolishness, just good seafood done right. I just wanted the seasoning to turn the volume knob up a notch or three. The seating situation started off a little sideways, like a crawfish running from the boil, but we got it wrangled and after that the night smoothed out just fine. Let's talk sides. Baby... these sides were small for the price. And look -- St. Louis has so many great spots where you get quality and value. The county can be tricky like that: the food delivers, but the prices sometimes think they're partying on Bourbon Street during peak Mardi Gras. Now I gotta say something that stayed with me all night -- that fish tank broke my heart. Those fish looked lonely. If you're gonna have a tank, give them some friends, some sparkle, maybe toss in a bead or two -- make it FUN. Right now it's giving "sad aquarium waiting for parade season." Tonic report from the bar: whew -- that tonic was way too sweet for my taste. My gin was confused, I was confused, so I tapped out and switched to iced tea, which did me just right. One thing I truly appreciated -- the owner is very personable and stopped by our table to say hello, which always earns major points. That kind of hospitality matters and adds to the experience. And here's my loving suggestion: lean HARD into Mardi Gras season. It's a BIG deal here in the Lou, and this place is perfectly set up for it. Beads, music, specials, colors, chaos -- give us a reason to yell laissez les bons temps rouler before the appetizers even hit the table. BUT HOLD UP -- because the real star of the night was our server Brittany, and baby... she was an absolute QUEEN Warm, fun, attentive, and made the whole night feel like a party. We laughed, we relaxed, and we had a blast. Brittany is the kind of server who makes you want to come back -- and maybe order dessert even when you swore you were done. All in all, Gulf Shores brings fresh seafood, good vibes, and Cajun-adjacent comfort. Turn the seasoning up, give the fish some friends, lean into Mardi Gras, rethink the tonic -- and if Brittany's in your section? You're already winning.
