Impromptu Lunch in BK at Duet proved to be a fine choice. I did some browsing around Marine Park Restaurant Options and was starting to get the feeling it was lack luster, meh. Decided between some other businesses and this menu seemed to have friendlier options for my child. They did not offer a kids menu but with the brunch still available that shouldn't be an issue here. My Auntie whom is vegetarian was incredibly happy with her Avocado Toast , it was beautifully prepared and honestly just made her day. I got the sliders which were very tasty but sadly I wasn't asked how I wanted them cooked. The caramelized onions were truly caramelized so bonus points for that, most places fail to achieve that depth of brown on this topping that should be nailed. Yummy fries as well. My Daughter went for the Nutella Waffle and if you see the picture of the cutes girl in the world you can tell what she thought about those lol. The atmosphere would be an ideal date night setting, and if we do ever venture down there again we will definitely return. read more

My boyfriend took me here a few weekends ago. The decor is really nice and the waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. My bf ordered French toast and I had the ham eggs Benedict. We also had the 6 shots package. My bf also ordered the Moscow mule, which was way too strong for him. The waiter was nice, didn't charge us for it and allowed him to order another drink. My fiancée and I came here for dinner. We started with orders of tuna tar tare and salo. I liked both of the appetizers. The salo comes with six pieces so I think it's best for two or three people to share. For our second course, we shared the fried potatoes and mushrooms. The potatoes were crispy. The dish was well seasoned. For our main course, we shared the rack of lamb. The order came with three pieces and a side of mashed potatoes. For dessert, we had the creme brûlée. The dish was served on fire which was entertaining. The fire quickly faded away. The dish was sweet. It had a nice textural contrast. We also had some camomile tea. read more

So I flagged down this waiter looking my way unfortunately this waiter by name (Eugene) didn't get the spelling right but he is the WORST! He was standoffish and didn't even communicate or give information about the menu options! I ordered the buffalo wings for the kids and specifically told the waiter that I would like to substitute for the BBQ wings, he said OK that it was doable! I ordered the Norwegian Salmon for myself. After the waiter took our order, he never came back to ask if we needed anything but was fully engaging with the "white peoples" tables! Then the order came and it was wrong! The kid's chicken didn't come as bbq! Even though the server went to inform our waiter about the issue, he didn't even flinch! He made sure to go about engaging with the other tables and finally came to talk to me! At that point I had already flagged down the manager who was helpful, polite and tried to fix the issue. This particular waiter didn't even apologize but shrugged his shoulders and said "OK" , and proceeded to take away the food. Now after waiting for over 40 minutes another waiter asked if we needed anything, I asked why my food is taking so long! (Norwegian salmon). Lo and behold! My food was never logged in the system! That waiter that his name starts with an E is such a Bloody RACIST! And highly unprofessional! Please stay away from this establishment! I would never be returning! Even though the manager tried to fix the problem, the damage has been done! She did order my food and said it was on the house. ( appreciate it) . Of all my time eating around America, this is one the worse, and for my wife who grew up here she said this is her worse experience. Lol And she hardly complains if we eat out. First when we arrived, we're like invisible for awhile (around 10mins). Nobody even asked us anything or told us to seat and wait, and to think there were only 2 tables of customers inside. Then its like they don't know much about their cakes coz online we inquired and someone asked us what design, but in person they say they don't make cake designs anymore. Then for the prices of their food, its nothing special that's worth the prices they have. Lastly the waiters, some were nice but one was not welcoming, and one (not sure if waiter or from their kitchen) saw me waving and just look at me but didn't came to me or even tell anyone. One more thing, they don't know about coupons on their resto online, people here should be properly updated. Anyway, not coming back here. Ps. This is not my first time at Duet, so I can speak from experience. Duet isn't a bad spot but this experience was terrible. I understand that it was a holiday, but that doesn't mean that paying customers can be neglected. It shouldn't take 20 minutes for a drink to come to the table, or for us to get our entrees 25-35 minutes after ordering. (There were a total of 3 tables for the entire restaurant, so I know the restaurant wasn't busy- the waiters were walking around spraying chemical cleaning solutions on the tables around us- instead of asking if we need more water etc). Very disappointed in this experience. Terrible experience from an otherwise decent spot. Do better. (And the "owner" had the nerve to say that it was "busy"... the restaurant was empty!) just take responsibility instead of gaslighting the customer. Will not be going there again and will tell others to stay clear as well. read more

So, I finally came here today after passing by it for years, after the gym. Friend and I came for brunch. We didn't have reservations, nor did we know we needed them. First, we ordered the mini bagel platter. The mini bagels are literally the same size as the frozen mini pizza bagels, maybe smaller. I have no idea how they think all the food on a lox platter is going to fit on those itty bitty bagels. Invest in bigger, freshly baked mini bagels, not frozen ones. Secondly, how do they not have plain old seltzer? From the bar? I wound up ordering a $4 bottle of sparkling water (and was also charged for an $8 one, which was later removed) which is not what I wanted, but what's done is done. My friend never even got her water. Third and lastly- and this is my biggest gripe - WHO THE HELL CHARGES $3.50 FOR PLAIN BREWED COFFEE? AND CHARGES PER CUP?! Diners and restaurants give free refills on coffee, but no, Duet HAS to charge per cup. What in the actual hell? So my friend and I wound up spending $14 on coffee ($3.50 x 4!!). I'm curious - is your coffee made from gold coffee beans?? You do realize you're in Mill Basin and not the UES, right? Come down off your high horse. read more

He sat down with us to discuss some options and so on. At first we were sitting in the main dining area, but our table was situated right by the waiter station/POS system. I did not enjoy the waiters bumping into my chair nonstop so we asked to move. As there were no more tables available, they sat us in the first room where people originally walk in. It was cold since the door kept opening and closing and the table next to me was complaining about the same thing. I must say though, the waiter told us that if we get cold, he can provide us with blankets. Anyways.. my mimosa tasted like 95% orange juice. I ordered my burger medium, but when it came, it was well done. I really didn't want to wait for a new one since I had to be somewhere shortly after. The burger was good, but would have been much better if it were medium. The lobster eggs benedict... I thought it was funny. The waiter came and the owner yelled at him for something .. sounded like the pouched egg was upside or something like that so he yelled at the waiter told him to go fix it because they can't serve good looking like that. The waiter brought it back a couple of minutes later. For a lobster eggs benedict, there were A LOT of shells in there.. not so satisfying. It took the waiter forever to get us the check and to take our credit cards. We had to ask the girl at the bar to call him both times. Where do I start... the service.. doesn't exist. I was with a party of 7, after getting seated we ordered our food immediately. After waiting 45 minutes 1 of the 7 orders come out; at the same time we're told that two orders can't be fulfilled as they're "sold out". At that point two friends left the restaurant upset knowing it took so long just to let us know their food can't be ordered. Fast forward an hr & 15 minutes later, our hostess comes to our table questioning why no one is eating. I was confused at first if she was serious or something is wrong with her. We respond where's the rest of the food !!?? They forgot three orderes, thinking we already ate (mind you there's no plates or dirty dishes in front of us) This place needs to get their act together. I attended a baby shower here and was blown away by the quality of their food. I went, really having no expectations, and found myself loving each and every bite I took more and more. The shower had a variety of foods, from bagels and spreads on the table, to passed bites and plates (like potatoes, Eggs Benedict, lobster rolls . . . the list goes on, and each bite was as good as the last). Oh, and dessert! The cake, the donuts, the __insert all the other delicious sweets they put on the table here___ were all phenomenal. I visited Duet on Saturday March 23rd at 9:40pm. We were a party of 3 and waited for a bit at the entrance before we were acknowledged by staff. We were made to feel unwelcome, and it felt like we were intruding. We even contemplated if we were in the right area, although I had been there previously. We were not aware that the restaurant was closing at 10pm since the website indicated 11pm. The customer service was not just lacking but non-existent. The server could have simply communicated that they would be closing at 10pm and we could order a dessert and/or coffee. He could not communicate clear what time the kitchen was closing which led to a bit of frustration. Tip: If you do not want to serve patrons, please put up a "Closed" sign. Also you never know who is going to walk into your establishment. We left and patronized another establishment where we were well received, and the customer service was excellent. This restaurant is in my neighborhood, but I will NEVER patronize it again. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

Had to ask more then once for water or more bread. When asked for our waitress, after what had to be an hour, more then once, she returned and asked if we wanted desert. Well, guess I'm not having an entree. Too bad, food was good, expensive but good. Completely neglected and will not go back. This was a Tuesday night, would be more understanding if busy weekend. My friend who lives in the area told me about this brunch spot and I am so glad that we went for her birthday. The servers were great and the food was wonderful. The coffee was 4 dollars, but it was worth it because the atmosphere was on point and the COFFEE was the best. We didn't get to sit in the general area, so we didn't get the full effect. They placed us in their additional location, which was next door to the restaurant. My order was the Village Omelet without mushrooms, it was so yummy and it came with little garlic potatoes & side salad. I especially didn't appreciate the extra fee for paying with a credit card. Either raise your prices or eat the small fee. Or put a sign so everyone knows you charge extra. I CAN READ!!! 2. Please do not respond to me that "it's a cultural ethnic dish, so if i say the name of it you won't know what it is!" That was the waiter's response when I asked what the soup of the day was. HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT I KNOW!?!?! 3. Do not offer a guest a skirt steak when a ribeye was ordered and say the skirt steak is more economical. Please refer to #1. All of the above makes/made for a not-so-pleasant dining experience. Food is always amazing, fresh and delicious. Monday nights are our go to considering the oyster special, but regardless the rest of the menu is awesome. Came here Friday morning for breakfast and it was superb. There weren't any other customers. Food came out quick and it was to die for. Had the French toast, village omelette, and the lobster burger. All were delicious and yea I had two meals. Only onlly call out is that the Yelp 10% discount didn't work. According to the waitress the manager said she didn't post any discounts to yelp. Today, however, at the peak of a busy morning, stopped to get my favorite croissants for the kids. First bite, you can taste the stale, leftover flavor, which when fresh, you can hear the crunching and flaky freshness that is worth the $4.00. My first experience at establishment. The restaurant has great branding, something you would experience in Manhattan. The good looked as hood as it tasted. My partner and I sat in thief outdoors seating. This was an patio extension next to the parking spot. The planters are placed strategically to distract you from the reality of sitting in the middle of a parking lot. We got the salmon and avocado Benedict ($14) and a lobster Benedict ($16). They didn't skimp on ingredients either. Got a good amount of real lobster and cold smoked salmon. The eggs were poached perfectly. The egg benedict are severed on circle toast instead of english muffin. This allowed you to taste the ingredients. By checking in on yelp, I get a coupon for a free tea or coffee with a breakfast purchase. The coffee was a smooth dark brew. The coffee is served with warmed steamed milk and cubed raw and white sugars. The steamed milk kept the coffee warm. This experience was great for a summer brunch experience. I overheard some regular clientele saying that the restaurant is really busy at night and was open til' 1-2 am in the morning. Will recommend to a friend and visit again. read more

We came for a 30th birthday with ~15 people and signed up for the $105 pp banquet option. The food was without a question absolutely delicious! And more importantly, the service was extremely accommodating and quick. We also had DUET custom design the birthday cake based on just a few hobbies we mentioned of the birthday person. We let the artist surprise us and interpret it whichever way she felt is right. The cake was a glorious surprise and huge show stopper! Everyone absolutely loved it.
