Wow, Dumpling Capital is a small and unassuming resto with hole in the wall/mom & pop shop/family business feel (which we love)! We were seated right away, and granted, we were a bigger group of 7. The menu is extensive and we appreciate the affordability. Service is fast and they took our orders and served us waters as soon as we sat. We ordered: A08 five spice combo B08 peasprouts a22 cucumber salad B5 salt and pepper tofu* D19 zucchine fpling egg C3 pork siu mai D02 chive pork dumpling C08 chive pancake L03 eggdrop Crab meat soup dumpling Egg fried rice Veggie chow chow mein Beef pancake roll It was a feast, and lemme tell you the food came fast and all were so tasty! If I had to choose a dish to highlight, we collectively thought that the SALT & PEPPER TOFU was life changing!!!! Thanks DC, we wink be back in no time!

decent dumplings at a good price in unassuming environment. i stopped by for a quick lunch and sat down right away! the servers were helpful and nice. i enjoyed the boiled dumplings, which were decently flavorful. it's a very nostalgic type of dumpling and they do it well! the xlb were just okay. the broth lacked flavor and the skin was a bit thick. we also had har gow which were excellent - the skin was soft and moist, not overly thick, and the shrimp filling was flavorful and in generous portion. for dessert we tried the sesame ball with egg yolk. the exterior was ehh it tasted a little burnt so maybe we got a bad batch. the interior filling was yummy though - super hot and they didn't skimp on the filling. overall i'd come back here for the har gow and boiled dumplings, or to try their other popular dishes!

Super tasty food and attentive service! Loved their Shanghai Pan Fried Soup Dumpling, appetizers were really good too! Not too oily or greasy. They have frozen dumplings for purchase too, and we bought a couple bags to try. Lots of people come in to order takeout

It was my pleasure to return to Dumpling Capital when I needed to same-day service my Nissan down the block. The pea shoots are expensive but worth it if you're craving leafy green nutrition. Today I also had their lamb and radish dumplings, perfectly made on site and full of rich, fatty ingredients. Service is basic, as expected for a Chinese hole-in-the-wall place, but friendly. I look forward to having the leftovers tomorrow!

While the outside is very unassuming and the inside has limited seating, this seems to be a very popular local restaurant. We came in on a Wednesday night and were able to be seated and served quickly. We ordered a bunch of dishes and loved everything! The Shanghai soup dumplings were very tasty, the sweet and spicy eggplant was delicious and covered in so much sauce, the beef and broccoli was tender and again served with a flavorful sauce, the wonton soup had a good ratio of wontons to veggies, and the chicken and corn dumplings were also really good! Our food came out extremely quickly as it was ready (dishes came out one by one but within a few minutes of each other at most) and was served hot off the stove/wok/steamer. The portions are large and easy to share with everyone at the table. Even the wonton soup we ordered had lots of wontons, enough for everyone to have like 3. The prices are also pretty reasonable considering the amount you get and the taste of the food. For four people who got 6-7 dishes and still took home three boxes of leftovers, the total was about $100. Great place of your craving some dim sum or just a good comfort meal.

Thanks to Dumpling Capital, I didn't starve when I couldn't even get into the closed 105 parties-in-front-of-me waitlist at Ramen Hajime. Enjoyed the pan fried buns and salt and pepper tofu for a quick lunch.

This location had a different place before so this was the first time for us to try Dumpling Capital and I'm so glad we did. While they have a small parking lot there's still a lot of street parking so it's not too bad. So hard to try new things with only two people - definitely want to go back to try other dishes but for this go around this is what we had. We had Pork and Crab dumpling. While it's tasty - there wasn't a lot of soup (hence minus a star). Definitely needed more soup. Their golden fried tofu was pretty good - next time I think we'll try the salt and pepper one - I thought it was lacking some flavor. The favorites was the eggplant with basil - cooked PERFECTLY with SO MUCH FLAVOR - but the #1 was their garlic green onion pancake! MY OH MY! who would have thought with that combo!! What a hidden gem!! I've had regular green onion pancakes and those with beef but this version with fresh garlic! Totally over the top - the flavors, the textures - SO GOOD!!! Would come just for this dish!! Service was nice - attentive - they updated the place, painted the walls and everything was nice and clean. Will definitely come back to try more dishes!

This place was surprisingly good and close to our place. There's not a lot of tables inside and parking spaces are definitely limited. We ordered the pan fried soup dumplings which were the biggest of their kind I've seen so far, the shrimp hargow was soooo good. And the green onion pancakes were great as well! Good find!

A homestyle dumpling place in a small parking lot with an extensive menu. Through the right door you can view the dumplings being made fresh. It's a casual dine in restaurant, nothing fancy but that's what I was looking for to satisfy my sunday dumpling cravings. We started off with the garlic string beans which had diced onion as well. The beans a bit too oily for my liking, have had better string beans at other places so I would try a different veggie appetizer next time. The xiao long bao had good flavor, decent amount of soup even though the skin wasn't thin enough but still good. The shrimp and pork in spicy wonton sauce was pretty good. I liked the addition of coriander on top. The shrimp and pork dumplings with chive were good too. I felt the filling was similar in flavor to the wontons. In particularly liked their dumpling cover more than other the ones I have had at other places. The pork and shrimp sui mai was fresh and flavorful as well. In general, there wasn't any dish that was bad or any dish that was amazingly good for its price point. Everything was decently delicious. I guess this is a good option if you are looking for a casual, homestyle dumpling restaurant. I would visit again to try more dishes.

Came here for an impromptu craving of dumplings and got seated right away. I liked that they have an extensive menu with lots of options for friends family and kids. I was happy to try some new things and some staples like a simple egg fried rice which my kid absolutely enjoyed. The quantity is good too. We got a bunch of different dumplings like the chicken and chive (which tasted ok) but the shrimp and pork shumai ones were really good. We also got the pancake which was interesting too. The ambience was very simple.. tables set up in a simple way.. nothing fancy but service was quick for the a lot of us. The paintings on the walls said a nice little story about dumplings and it was really nice to see and learn about that

Very happy with our first visit to Dumpling Capital. Small parking lot in front. Two doors: enter through the left door to dine in. Through the right door you can see the dumplings being made fresh. The dining room is basic and casual. Option to order through QR or printed menu. Our server was very warm and kind. Food: cucumbers with peanuts (cold appetizer), Szechuan spicy chicken and spinach wonton, marinated beef scallion pancake roll, and lamb with zucchini dumplings. Everything was great! The cucumbers were nice and refreshing, the spicy wontons had lots of spinach, the beef roll flavorful, and the lamb dumplings were succulent. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the lamb and zucchini dumplings. I look forward to coming back and trying more items!

Overall a solid place. Came in for early dinner and it was not super busy. Service is friendly and checks up on you. We ordered our favorite dishes to try. Would order the general tso, pea shoots, combo fried rice, Shanghai pan fried soup dumpling, and chocolate xiao long bao again. Marinated beef pancake roll, pork dumplings with chive, and salt and pepper pork chops I could go without ordering again.

    Taro balls
    Jas L.

I ordered the pan fried pork pot stickers and the golden taro balls for dessert. The taro balls were excellent, crispy on the outside, filled with mildly sweet taro paste, and a small piece of yolk tucked inside.

What we ordered: House Special Chili Crab 1/2 Roasted Duck Beef Ribs with Black Pepper Sauce Stir-Fried Chinese Tender Greens Overall, the food was okay. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing really stood out either. The portions were generous, and we had more than enough food for 4 adults. My favorite dish was the beef ribs. The meat was tender, and the black pepper sauce was flavorful. The roasted duck was okay, my mom liked the dipping sauce. The chili crab was the most expensive dish since it's charged at market price, but the seasoning was well balanced and not too spicy. I just forgot how much work it is to crack the shell and get all the meat out, but that's on us for ordering crab! They also surprised us with a complimentary dessert at the end, which was nice and very much appreciated. Overall, a solid spot if you're looking for family-style Cantonese seafood with generous portions. Appreciate it!

We sat in a private room and someone was attentive and got us our orders at a rapid speed. We did have someone in our party who spoke fluent Cantonese which helped a lot. My last two times here was for dim sum takeout orders, and I honestly do not recommend ordering takeout. Both times were mediocre. The most recent time, we ordered 5 standard dim sum items on our phone while we were outside the restaurant. We ended up waiting at least 40 minutes for our food to be ready. When we asked for an update around the 30 minute mark, the lady at the counter was so unhelpful. Just said it's not ready without actually checking and then she turned away and ignored me. When we finally got our food, we ate it within 10 minutes, and the food was already lukewarm/almost cold. It was not worth the wait. Note ordering online has a $1 convenience fee. You wait for your takeout bag to be available on the long table inside, and then you take it to the nearby counter and pay there. Utensils and napkins are not automatically included in your bag. If we decide to come back, it would only be for dine in service. Never again for take out.

I don't know even how to begin this review, because this place was BEYOND AWFUL. We have been here…read moremany times over the years because of our Chinese family friends. First, let's start with cleanliness. The bathroom was disgusting. If this is where the cooks relieve and wash their hands, yikes! Literally a biohazard. Trash overflowing and everything was sticky and the toilets were very dirty. Just yikes. Also if you look at the dining inspection score on the Santa Clara county website, it scored a literal 20/100. This is worse than competitors for kitchen cleanliness. This explains the many food poisoning reviews here. We got served raw food and things that looked a bit spoiled here and luckily we spotted it and didn't get sick. Read the inspection report and it's really disgusting. I'm not sure how this place is still open. I get service at Chinese restaurants serving primarily Chinese immigrants isn't top tier, but this place takes it to the next level in being abysmal. The front desk staff is belligerent and they DO NOT RESPECT YOUR RESERVATION and make you stand outside and wait for up to 30 minutes. This happened to us a couple times. Also if you are an English speaker/non Chinese speaker, the front desk staff only speaks mandarin for the most part so good luck too if you are a Cantonese speaker. They also hold and reserve table numbers for refused to jump the waitlist and reservations. That was just the host staff, the waiters were not better. Waiters were very hard to flag down and sometimes they see you and ignore you because they don't want to serve you and do their job. They also are too busy sometimes and seem overworked so their employer (a very rich duo of brothers) need to treat their employees better and train them better so they have a better attitude for customers. We also had one waiter when cleaning our table poured our water glasses into a bowl then dumped in onto the carpet onto the ground which was a first for me and my family. This was very memorable in a bad way. The environment is also very uncomfortable to dine in. The seating is packed in so tight that it's so loud you can't hear the other people at your table. It's also a fire hazard since several emergency exits were visibly blocked by tables, chairs, or people crowding at the entrance. I've seen reviews here and on Google claiming to have reported the restaurant to the fire marshal. This seems to be true because there were several times the restaurant de densified the dining room before densifying it again weeks later. If a fire broke out, this would be deadly due to exits being blocked and the restaurant being over capacity. This place is just waiting for something really bad to happen. This place is also very expensive and claims to be an elevated authentic dim sum experience targeting Chinese immigrants and ABCs. And it sucks for the price paid given the food, service, and environment (and the literal fire danger they put you in) Finally, as many have complained here, there is a mandatory 18% gratuity and they demand a tip on top of it. They hide it from their menu so you don't find out, but that's illegal in California to hide a mandatory gratuity. Honestly, the gratuity isn't worth it for the nasty service and food anyways. The only have it because the owners know their restaurant is so bad they have to put a gratuity because otherwise people won't pay tips. What a joke of a business, I'm not sure why so many people still support it by singing its praises here and patronizing a restaurant that clearly doesn't care about either its employees or customer.

Even though their parking lot had a lot of cars, it's so big that there're still plenty of spaces. Their inside was huge as well. Because of the high ceiling, it didn't feel too crowded, even though it was packed. They had a lot of servers, too, though getting the attention of one took a while. Our server highly recommended their sea bass 2 ways (congee and chow fun) on their daily special menu. We would have ordered that if they still had fish at ~2lb, but they only had fish at ~3lb, which would be too big for us, as we would like to order some dim sum as well. So, we just ordered from their dim sum menu. The 2 different house teas we ordered came out pretty quickly, but it took a while for the food to come. The Sauteed Turnip Cake in XO Sauce was the dish I liked the most. It could still use more XO sauce, though. Pork & Crab Roe Siu Mai was gigantic; taste was normal. I wished they had chili sauce at the table. We're too busy catching up and didn't bother to flag down someone to get some. The Fried Bean Curd Skin Roll w/ Shrimp was not bad, just a bit oily. The Fried Chinese Donut Wrapped in Rice Noodle w/ Dried Shrimp was on point; it came with a peanut sauce on the side. The Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce were well cooked and off the bones. The Salted Egg Yolk Lava Black Bun wasn't too sweet; the inside was more runny than we expected. We're already stuffed after having 6 dim sum dishes. Overall, dim sum was solid, but on the more expensive side. While their service was typical for a Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area, they did apply a 16% service charge to the bill automatically, which was stated on their menu.
