Wondered into Dumpling King after a local appointment. Having never been to the area, I consulted my trusty Yelp app for reviews. After discovering it was highly rated, I happily walked up to the counter and placed my order with their self-service kiosks. It was around 3pm and no one was at the counter. I noticed one staff member in the corner of the restaurant refilling sauces. The place was basically empty. I figured this was normal for the time I got there. It's a comfortable fit for about 30 or so customers with a homey ambiance. I ordered the bubble tea and the spicy fish filet dip. As a side note, there is a special $3 discount for ordering 2 or more dumpling types. Being slightly hung over, I figured the soup was my best bet. It took about 15 mins for the food to come out. I have been here a few times and finally got the chance to try the fried chicken wings. They have a hint of curry and are absolutely scrumptious. I adore the soup dumplings; they never disappoint. Server/bussers kind of linger in the self seated dining area to bring food and assist as needed. My person was very attentive and constantly cleared dishes and trash off the table. Dumpling king is always a good time. The restaurant itself is always clean and it's nice that you can see them making the dumplings. The beef pan fried dumplings are always my go to. They're super flavorful and are always delicious. I recently tried the sesame cold noodles and they were also good but could use a bit more flavor. The wonton soup and beef noodle soup are also great options. The honey wings are crispy and have a nice honey flavor. The boba is also really good. The service is also pretty good. You have to order at the register, and they bring you the food. We ordered different types of dumplings. We also ordered the honey chicken wings which were also a fan favorite. As well as the soups dumplings! I wasn't a fan of the scallion pancakes - but the dumplings were delish! Prices range from $10.99+ for 8 pieces or so. We also ordered the mango green tea which was super cheap for a large, it was only $5. I wasn't a fan of the Thai milk tea- it came in a slush form not a milk tea.. I'm excited that they opened one in Pembroke Pines- this place is in a hot spot - with other restaurants next to it and this place was easy to find with decent amount of parking. We were in Pembroke Pines, Florida and have a craving for Xiao Long Bao or Soup Dumpling. Found out there are two Dumpling King in Miami and planning on open a third one in Coral Spring. Many make Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumpling) this way. The skin of wrapper made flour and water; hand rolled by skilled chef. The dumpling wrapper with a small amount of meat is the placed in the palm of hand. The chef uses his/her other hand fingers to gather the edge or pleat. The more pleats on the top of Xiao Long Bao means the chef is more skillful! It is not uncommon have at least 12 or 14 pleats and the size is about the size of golf ball. The freshly made Xiao Long Bao are place in a bamboo steamer lined with Napa cabbage. They arrive at the table in piping hot. The dumpling contains a little pork meat ball saturated with by a savory meaty broth. How to prevent burning your mouth and savor the dumpling? One way is placing the dumpling in a spoon and poke a hole on the wrapper. Let the broth drip and cool off, or suck the broth when it is cooler. With a simple slurp, you can eat the rest of Xiao Long Bao. At Dumpling King, you order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. We ordered a Xiao Long Bao Shanghai style, scallion pancakes and cold noodle. The bamboo steamer is lined with paper rather than Napa Cabbage and the spoon provided is too narrow. The spoon does not have enough space to accommodate the Xiao Long Bao. The dumpling wrapper is a little thicker dough than I used to. Otherwise, it is fine. The Soup Dumpling is flavorful! The scallion pancake is tasty. The sweet Chili sauce goes well with this. The cold noodle is made with a very light cream sauce. It is refreshing but I generally like cold noodle made with thick sesame paste or peanut butter. There are noodle soups, fried chicken winds, egg roll, fried dumpling with different proteins like pork, chicken and beef. During the week day lunch, a special pineapple/shrimp fried rice and Kimchi fried rice are available. This is not an up-scale establishment. It is simply an order counter, and tables. The wall is plain. However, there is a large window where you can watch workers making the dumpling. read more
