Fresh dumpling house in a small mall between the old town plaza and Water Street. They also serve fresh hand pulled noodles in their delicious soups. When you bite into the dumplings or take a sip of the soup, it is clear that it's all freshly prepared and full of flavor. I usually rely on frozen dumplings that I steam or fry at home, so it's quite the treat to get fresh ones, especially when they're packed with so much delicious and fresh ingredients. There is a large screen terminal right up front where you can pick out what you want to order by photos on the screen and pay up front. They will bring out your items as they are ready. They have cold water, soda, and some beer in refrigerators right next to the order station. I'm not going to lie, I thought this place would taste poor based on previous experiences eating dumplings in non-Asian areas. But this place exceeded my expectations. First off, I love that you can see them make and wrap the dumplings. This is just a really nice sight to notice and appreciate the hard work behind the dumplings. The menu is small but there's something for everyone. We ordered the scallion pancake, fried pork dumpling, fried shrimp dumpling, and two soup "bao" orders. At first, we were confused because bao means buns. But to our shock, it is a bao because the soup dumpling is big. Even thought the serving size might seem small, each dumpling was quite big. Starting our meal with the scallion pancake was the perfect appetizer. It was the right amount of crispness and the scallion flavor was not overbearing. Onto the flavor...the dumplings were delicious. They were fried just right and there was so much flavor in the dumplings. The soup dumplings are served with a giant ladle spoon. read more

Another one of our go-to restaurants during the pandemic was Dumpling Tea. Now that we are out and about, it's easy to forget an old favorite. We ended up getting our three favorite bowls, Dan Dan, Vegetable, and chicken noodle. All the ingredients are fresh and flavorful, but it's the broth that keeps us coming back! The broth is rich and complex. And they let you select how much spice you wish to add to your bowl. I personally love that, because sometimes I can take the heat and sometimes I can't. There are several other things on their menu that I want to try. We really need to visit the actual restaurant sometime instead of relying on our favorite food delivery app. read more

And everything was heavy and greasy enough that it stayed heavy on our stomach. Hard to find, but completely worth the frustration. The restaurant is located at the end of this lengthy hallway that reminded me of one you would see in a mall from the 90's. The entrance doors give the same vibe, and once opened, give way to the prodigal hallway. If you see a long hallway with crescent shaped ceiling, pointless seated in the middle, you're almost there. Dumpling heaven is all the way at the end, to the right. I hope your intrepid journey has made you peckish. The dumplings and buns are both sizable and flavorful, and you really can't to wrong with whichever you choose. If you lack self control like me, you'll likely order too much, and will need to get some to go. But that's not a bad thing! The curry chicken soup was not my favorite, but my partner loved it. The star were the pan friend pork buns, as many reviews stated, but it was obvious that everything served here was homemade with traditional techniques. If I had one complaint; it is the lack of vinegar. Due to the aromatic it's aromatic nature, this family ran business have acquiesced vinegar from their recipes as much as possible. So if you're dead set on the usual vinegar based sauce to dip your dumplings in, you will be let down since it doesn't exist here. The bright red hot sauce that is available instead, packs a string punch of heat, so be careful with it. Although I am a huge spice fan, I still caution to use it sparingly. All in all, a very good choice for dinner or a quick bite. I will be returning. read more

Located inside the mall surrounding the plaza on the second floor. There is seating inside the restaurant and out in the mall. It's air conditioned which was so nice during the hot summer heat! We ordered shrimp dumplings and scallion pancake. The dumplings are huge and delicious. Our food and service was great! You can watch them roll out the dumplings which is so neat to watch firsthand. Pretty good dim sum. Its upstairs if you can't find it. Pretty small and we had a large group so we called ahead, but it wasn't too busy anyway. We tried *many* items between the 7 of us, all very good. The pork and chicken were pretty indistinguishable but loved by all. My fave was the har gow with the chili oil. The red bean dumplings were good in flavor but dough was pretty thick, not super easy to eat. The chili cucumbers were tasty but cut pretty thickly and were a bit too soft and sweet for my preference. Let me just warn whoever may be reading this - these dumplings are 2-3 times bigger than typical dim sum dumplings. We didn't realize this and over ordered...big time. Also explains the prices. I definitely prefer the smaller, more delicate skinned traditional dim sum. But this is also good, in its own way. The fried chili oil here is the best I've had, maybe they make it? The noodle dishes and soups are excellent. (Hot means very hot! You've been warned.) My other bummer was no tap water, they make you buy something bottled. I'm fine with being charged for tap water if it's available. I just would rather not be forced to buy a single use plastic container for a small amount of water. If I had known I would have brought my *reusable* water bottle from the car and not added unnecessarily to a landfill. read more

This place was a nice place we stumbled upon when we were window shopping and just in general looking for a place to eat after coming back from an late morning trip to see Taos Pueblo (the place we initially planned for lunch already closed because we arrived back in Santa Fe so late after mid afternoon). I like that the place was well kept, had many options and had options for seating inside their shop or outside of their shop but still inside the plaza. We opted for a few dishes (steam shrimp dumplings as appetizers, wonton noodles and egg and tomato noodles soup) and thought all the dishes were surprisingly good and fulfilling (probably a better option to eat and warm up on a cold day than the initial lunch place that we initially planned to eat). Overall, kind owner, clean place and looked like the place made our dumplings/wontons/dish to order (so you have to wait a bit for them to come out). I usually don't eat the egg and tomato homemade noodles dish, but just kind of wanted try...and even my friend liked it more than what he initially thought, too! Great place to stop by, relax and enjoy your lunch! I will think of it as a good option with very reasonable price the next time I'm in Santa Fe! read more

My you g friend and I had the: spicy chicken dumpling that are topped with ins rep, chili oil and thin sliced omelet - our favorite of our offerings. The shrimp steamed dumplings were in a spinach dough with fresher, brighter flavors than I've had in a dumpling before. The pork soup dumplings were large and meaty but not my favorite of the soup dumplings I've had - still quite good and all handmade of premise. Lastly we had the pork bao with dough a bit lighter than I've gad before. All very good and we shall return. Had brought leftover to bring a full lunch to a friend. Dumpling Tea is a casual eatery on the second floor in a building off the Plaza. There's a selection of dumplings, buns, wontons, and noodles. We had the scallion pancake, the chicken fried dumplings, and a taro boba tea. The scallion pancake was very thin and crispy and could be dipped in the accompanying sweet and sour sauce. The dumplings were flavorful, if a little greasy. While I've had boba tea before, I had not had taro boba; it was a sweet and somewhat nutty flavor. It wasn't a sugar bomb or overly sweet like some boba selections elsewhere. I enjoyed this restaurant and would likely go again if I were a local. Since I'm only visiting Santa Fe, I'll likely continue exploring elsewhere. My husband said he'd give the restaurant a 3/5, but I'm going to round my more accurate rating of 3.5 up to 4. read more

If you would have told me that my favorite soup dumpling spot would be in Santa Fe NM I would have not believed you. The pork filling in these soup dumplings were so extremely flavorful and the soup component was delicious as well. We also ordered the pork fried dumplings and it had the same filling so I definitely enjoyed those too. It was a little strange how there was corn in the filling for this one but it was fine. The spicy wonton dumplings were incredible as well. We also ordered noodle dish that was pretty good. It was my least favorite dish out of them all but it was still tasty. It's really cool to see them making the homemade dumplings right in front of you as well. Gotta check this place out while in Santa Fe! read more

A delicious hidden gem in the heart of Santa Fe plaza. You order on a touch screen computer by the counter and I thought that was super cool. It also gets rid of confusion when you're ordering. It small but cozy and they also have tables in the hall of the indoors location. The service was very nice and quick. The food did take a little while but when you get your ticket it tells you approximate time of 20-25 minutes which is how long my food took. They weren't super busy but there were more than enough customers and only one server. She killed it! I read great reviews and smelled delicious food, so I couldn't help but try and I'm so glad I did. I ordered the chicken fried noodles and they were super fresh and flavorful. I usually hesitate to order fried noodles but I am so glad I did. The amount of veggies and spices was perfect. I got some extra hot sauce because I enjoy a good kick. Their sauce was delicious but you could just eat it as is too. I will definitely be back to try the dumplings as they're best known for that. It was a great experience overall! read more

Surprisingly good Chinese food here in Santa Fe! There is someone in the front who you see making the food fresh. I got the dan dan noodles. I really liked how herbal the broth was, and it was not too salty. We also got the pan fried pork buns and dumplings. The pan fried pork buns were not pan fried at the bottom, but the inside was flavorful and delicious at least. Service is good. They often checked in on us to see how we were doing. I wish i could give half stars because I would rate Dumbpling Tea at 3 1/2 stars if it were an option. I have chosen to round up, because I will give them credit for making some delicious food. We went here on a recent trip after having New Mexican cuisine for so many meals in a row we just wanted something different. I was surprised to find a good Dim Sum location in Santa Fe, right downtown, so we walked from our hotel and gave it a try. We tried the fried pork dumplings, the steamed shrimp dumplings, the steamed pork bao, the soup dumplings, and the pork fried noodles with handmade noodles. The servings here are generous and a good value for the price. The dumplings are much larger than we are used to, so we actually ordered too much food for the three of us. Our favorites were the fried pork dumplings and the soup dumplings. Both had great flavor and delivered perfectly on what we expected. The fried noodles were full of flavor and were a great surprise, I would recommend these as well. I liked the shrimp dumplings and share that they had a full-size shrimp inside instead of having diced shrimp in the middle. The only dish that we were not completely satisfied with was Steamed Pork Bao. I kept getting pieces of gristle in the bun that I did not want to eat. I really have not had this happen before in Dim Sum. Also, note that these are not the sweet BBQ pork bao that you might be used to from other restaurants. So why would I deduct 1 1/2 stars on my rating? It was about the service and the atmosphere in the restaurant. It is family-run, and you feel like you are in their house while they shout at each other. Since I do not know what they are saying, I do not know if it just normal conversation or if they are mad at each other. Either way it is not what I want for a nice dinner. The dining room is also very casual and while the food is quite amazing, the dining room does not match up to other options in the area. We enjoyed our dinner and thought the food was really good. Things have changed, and not for the better. A couple of years ago I left a five star review for Dumpling Tea, and at the time it was well deserved. My wife and I have had carry out from them regularly for at least six years, and have never been disappointed until now. We basically order the same thing every time. Spring rolls, scallion pancakes, vegetable dumplings, pork dumplings and a noodle dish. Our experience last night was that the wrap on the spring rolls was thick, very thick, about three times as thick as every other time we've had them. I got the feeling we were eating something mass produced and not made in-house. The filling was the same as ever, we just couldn't get past all of the dough to enjoy it. The vegetable dumplings have a different filling. It tastes pickled, not fresh. Just not our thing. Also not the same as every time we've ever had it, not even close. The noodles in the pork fried rice noodle dish were overcooked. I understand that mistakes can happen and normally I wouldn't have thought twice about it, but at this point I have to mention that as well. It was also heartbreaking to discover that the previously house made hot chili oil they include in little side containers with every order has been replaced by what seems to be a mass produced hot sauce. I could be wrong, it might be made in-house, but it is a serious downgrade. To be fair, I also need to mention that the scallion pancake and pork dumplings were spot on, same as always. Let me be clear, there was nothing inherently wrong with the food. It was all fine and perfectly edible. Unfortunately it just wasn't as good as it used to be. It seems that recipes and/or ingredients have changed, but not for the better. We'll miss you, Dumpling Tea. read more

We were walking around around Santa Fe and came across this hidden gem! Restaurant front looks like just a little hole in the wall. We order the scallion pancakes and the fried chicken bun dumpling. It was made by hand at time of ordered. Food was super good and fresh! Looks deceiving but man the food was so good! I was the highlight of our trip to Sante Fe. Recommend this place to anyone craving for Asian food and dumpling! I wanted to try their soups but did not have time to stay longer.
