    Beef Roll

Dumpling Wei is a surprising hit - a trendy little Chinese restaurant across the street from PCC offering excellent food, service, and a streamlined, upscale atmosphere at a competitive price. After my daughter saw the "Dumpling" sign proudly displayed over the restaurant, she insisted we visit on a Wednesday evening. We were greeted and ordered at the register in the front with our food brought to us. The inside is upscale, clean, well designed with an open central hallway and seating flanking on either side. At the recommendation of other Yelpers I got the Beef Roll ($10) which was a unique, light sandwich unlike anything I've ever had before - thin, tender beef, refreshing lettuce and scallions, wrapped in a thin, crispy-yet-soft pancake. The sandwich was perfectly well balanced, light, yet satisfying. My daughter had the chicken soup dumpling ($10.50) which was good, clearly homemade, and we shared the orange chicken ($12.50) which included a side of rice. The proportions were generous, and the orange chicken had a distinct, strong, ginger and garlic flavor. While lacking the crispiness of, say, Panda, the richness of the sauce and unique ginger overtone made it a great variation on the dish. As a gentle jab at my companion, I got the "Stubborn Daughter" drink ($6) which was a caffeinated tea, yuzu, lychee lemonade, and honey concoction which was a unique explosion of flavors unlike anything I've ever had before. Sour and sweet, floral and vegetal somehow at the same time, I rarely include drinks in my reviews but this requires emphasis. Truly delectable. The staff was warm, guided us through the menu, swapped our iced green tea for hot for free when the restaurant proved to be quite chilly, and welcomed and said farewell. Prices, above, are very reasonable - great even - for the quality of the food. A surprising hit, Dumpling Wei is an exceptional restaurant certainly worth a visit if you are around PCC. Unique, delectable Chinese-American dishes at a competitive price, look no further than Wei! Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4.5/5 Value: 4.5/5

Usually not in the area that much but found out about this place on TikTok. Definitely worth coming, the portions were good and enough for 2 (plus leftovers) and can't wait to come back and try more on the menu. Service was quick and food was out in less than 15 mins. The seating is a bit wonky but it makes sense. I sat at the bar window which was nice.

Located just across the street from PCC, Dumpling Wei is a can't miss spot for delicious food. Service was quick and it was relatively quiet for a weekday with some people studying while enjoying dinner. The menu has a good variety of food options at a fair price. We ordered dumplings, chicken fried rice, chicken potstickers, and garlic cucumber. All equally savory and delicious!

Came to Pasadena to visit my homie and we decided to treat ourself to this delicious restaurant. The prices are sooooo affordable I'm really surprised. I'm not from this area so it's really nice to see some dishes under $10?! Right across from PCC I'm surprised more people aren't coming here. The dumplings are so juicy. Everything is so flavorful. The golden beef belly noodle soup is so spicy like actually spicy and unique. Everything here is good. The Lao gan ma fried noodles with chicken is used in a savory sauce. And their BEEF ROLLS are so crispy on the outside and the meat is so soft and tender. I didn't expect this place to actually be so good. The drinks too they sound so basic on paper but they're way more complex tasting in person. Very light. Perfectly sweet. My homie got the little dream of you it's like a light creamy "horchata" drink with black sesame cold foam and she got the sycamore trees for her fiance and it was so refreshing like coconut water but sparkling and sweet, lightly lemon-y. And I got the stubborn daughter bc I related heavy to the name. It looked like a dirty soda or like a cold brew but it tasted so light but potent with tea flavor. There was also yuzu and lychee lemonade which would make you think this drink is super tart, but no I wish more people made drinks like this. It was sweet and refreshing without feeling like it tasted like a soda. Tbh you don't need the boba next door with drinks like these. Inside reminds me little fatty like upscale Chinese but without an overpriced tag. As a Chinese born American, I highly recommend this place !!

Dumpling Wei in Brentwood surprised me in the best way The prices honestly made me expect smaller portions, but the dishes just kept coming. Perfect place for sharing family-style, and we still had plenty left for to-go. Handmade dumplings, noodles, rice dishes -- everything felt comforting and super filling without feeling overpriced for the Westside. Parking was also surprisingly easy, which already feels rare in this area The only thing I probably wouldn't order again was the boba. I usually don't like overly sweet drinks, but this one tasted a little too watered down for me personally. Definitely feels like a solid comfort food spot after a Westfield Century City run 5 stars because for a newly opened spot, everything felt surprisingly solid overall

Tomato & Egg Noodle and Lao Gan Ma Fried Noodles w/ Chicken

Affordable and casual Chinese dining experience in Pasadena. The store is located right across from Pasadena community college and there is ample street parking. They might also have a small lot available for customers, but I wasn't able to locate it. The ambience inside is clean and there are plenty of tables. You order at the counter and sit down - you can also grab water for yourself from a dispenser as well as soy sauce/vinegar and garlic. We ordered the tomato and egg noodle and Lao Gan Ma stir fried noodles with chicken. The portions on both of these dishes were absolutely huge, which was great value especially for the price. The tomato and egg noodle were authentic and well-made, not too sweet like some of the versions tend to be. The stirfry noodles were on the salt to your side, but also very authentic and tasty. There was a strong soy sauce flavor, but not too much chili kick to it. They have a large menu and I'm really excited to come back and try some more of their dishes. It definitely feels almost like home cooking! Highly recommend and I will be coming back soon!

Casual noodle dumpling place across the street from Pasadena City College. The prices are reasonable and you get decent portion sizes. I got the beef roll, lots of tender beef and sauced just enough. The wrapper was excellent, thin and crispy but not greasy. I also got the shrimp dumplings with sauce and peanuts, also really good. The garlic cucumbers were garlic forward but under-seasoned. Overall, the items I tried leads me to want to check out the rest of the menu especially the noodle dishes and stir fries. 5 stars

Looking to try a new Chinese spot in the Pasadena area, I came across Dumpling Wei with some enticing pictures to their menu and became curious about this new spot. In a rush and wanting to take some food to-go, I decided to come in and look at their menu. With most of their food hovering around the 15 dollar price tag, I decided to order the Garlic Pork Ribs ($15.50) and the Boiled Fish ($15.50) and got the food to take home. Examining the quantity of food, I would say there definitely was more to be expected. Looking at the Garlic Pork Ribs first, I was expecting the quantity to match those of the other dishes offered on the menu. But looking at the given to-go container, there were only 13 pieces of small, sparerib sized pork. Because each piece was mostly made up of bone, I finished the dish still feeling very hungry. In the Pasadena area, there are many other restaurants one can go where the dishes give more for the same price. Because of this, the price to portion ratio was low. The same could be said for the Boiled Fish as it was a small bowl filled with just a few pieces of fish. Both of the dishes together could make one full. But even then, the price to portion ratio is very steep. Taste-wise, the food was pretty good overall. With the pork ribs, the outside was coated which gave off a sweet flavor. Combined with the green onions and black beans, the flavor was quite rich and very well composed. The meat was moist and used the garnishes to its benefit. But because the amount of meat was so little, the flavors dissipated fast. As for the boiled fish, the bowl had a similar taste to a bowl of malatang. With a very intense spice and a numbing flavor, the bowl is definitely only for those with high spice tolerance. But luckily, the ingredients were good as well. The wooden ears tasted soft and chewy, while the fish was very soft and broke apart easily. I personally wouldn't order the boiled fish again. But it wasn't bad by any means. Dumpling Wei was a surprise that I was not expecting. The flavors of the food were satisfying and authentic to a T. But because of the price to portion ratio and the lack of quantity of each dish, Dumpling Wei sits at a modest 3 star rating. While lower quantities of food are recognizable in this area, they are usually attributed to more expensive foods at different classes of restaurants. In all, Dumpling Wei can be a great choice if you are looking to overlook the quantity for some tasty Chinese food.

On a Sunday morning at 11am in March, my sister and I decided to have lunch here. We found street parking. It wasn't easy since church people took all the spots. We were nicely greeted by the staff person. First, we ordered at the order desk braised beef noodle soup, pan fried dumplings, xlb dumplings, bao stuffed dumplings meat. There are nice Chinese music playing in the background. There are some tables and self service of water, dipping sauce, plates. First the beef noodle soup arrived and I like to drink a spoonful of the broth which was rich in flavor. The staff person explained they cook the broth for long hours and everything are freshly made. The beef chucks was lean not fatty and noodles cooked just right. Next the pan fried dumplings and xlb dumplings tasted really good, I didn't eat the bao dumpling since I was too full. Overall very good place if you are craving dumplings and it's across from pcc.

Affordable AND delicious? That's become a rare combo. Ordered the potstickers and hand pulled onion pancake with lamb. Great favors at an excellent price. The potstickers came out piping hot and were served with a savory sauce. Delicious, tender filling and a great chew to the dumpling wrapping. Reminded me of growing up in the San Gabriel Valley and being spoiled by these flavors growing up.

I really love this place! Everything that I got tastes sooo delicious! Very authentic. Portion is good for sharing, every bite just soo delicious! I'm glad there's an authentic Chinese restaurant in Pasadena that's affordable and very delicious! Food is that good! Service is amazing, everyone's really friendly and they explained the dishes really well if you have a question, all utensils, water and self serve. Ambiance is casual and authentic modern Chinese. Plenty of seating inside and have street parking. I can't choose a favorite because everything's soo delicious! It's super flavorful! We really enjoyed dining here! I will definitely comeback and try their other dishes! This is now my go to Chinese restaurant.

The ambiance is everything here! Dumpling Wei is situated across PCC on Colorado Blvd, serving up its signature dumplings, wontons and XLBs. I loved trying their noodle dishes as well, you can't ever go wrong with Dan Dan Mein. There was just the right amount of peanut sauce too! One of my favorite stand out dishes was the Smoked Duck roll. I love how the dishes are shareable. The staff are easy to talk to and thoughtfully curated suggestions to match which appetizers went best with whichever mains. I also tried their Dream Of You drink and it's a fun dessert-like drink, layering black sesame cream over horchata. What I truly love is how they balance traditional dishes with a few creative experimental ones, if you haven't been, I highly recommend.

It's a comfortable spot with padded banquettes or chairs at the tables, which feature chrome frames and (very good-looking) faux marble tops; along with white walls and light-colored wood accents, the owners have created a clean, simple, welcoming environment. The mood is jostled even further into a specific vibe of calmness with the carefully curated music being played: bossa nova covers of pop hits from bygone days (The Bee Gees' "More Than A Woman" and the Bee Gees'-written Streisand hit, "A Woman In Love" being examples), but it all works. The menu offers a varied selection of dishes from several Asian cultures, from Chinese Beef Rolls to Japanese noodles and soups to Korean Beef over rice. It's not a huge menu, but there's definitely enough there for everyone to find something interesting to eat. The food is all cooked in view of the customers by a staff of chefs working in a sparkling clean kitchen enclosed by windows, and the staff is uniformly friendly despite juggling a lunchtime crowd at the tables plus quite a lot of to-go orders. I tried 2 really enjoyable and satisfying dishes. Beef Rolls featured thinly sliced brisket rolled inside crispy fried crepes with scallion, cilantro and a touch of Hoisin sauce. The brisket had a mild but distinctive flavor that spoke of careful preparation, while the slightly astringent pop from the onions and herbs was a nice foil for the inherent fattiness of the fried crepes. The Hoisin sauce was very subtly deployed, lending tasty support without overwhelming everything else. I added some of the house chili oil for a little extra spice and peppery depth, but these well-made rolls were terrific all by themselves. It should also be noted that the portion is very generous, especially for the price ($12.80), and more than enough for 2 people (perhaps 4 people, if each has 1/2). My other dish was the Qinghai Clear Cold Noodle, a terrific-looking, and even better-tasting blend of thick, chewy noodles, fresh chopped garlic, veggies, tofu and chili sauce that's got a bit of heat but more so a pleasing depth of Chinese spices. This appetizer is packed with flavor and just happens to be Vegan (as are a number of menu items), so it can be enjoyed by anyone. All in all, this was a fantastic mid-week lunch that pleased the senses without breaking the bank, and I even brought some home for later. Do give this Noodle St. a try -- and if you're not in Pasadena, check their website, because they have 8 locations, with a 9th opening soon in Sherman Oaks.

The quality was solid, and everything came out hot. The chicken wings were great, the garlic green beans and cucumber salad were amazing, and the signature spicy ramen was really good too. It was a bit greasy, almost like birria, but the meat was tender and the broth tasted like it had been cooking for 48 hours deep, rich, and full of flavor. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the Korean beef. It was way too sweet and didn't really give Korean BBQ flavor. The meat seemed more steamed than grilled, and not even vinegar or chili oil could save it for me. Other than that, everything else was fresh, flavorful, and worth coming back for.

Some of my favorites are the beef rolls, spicy wontons, green onion pancake, chow fun, orange chicken, and chow mein noodles. The noodles are especially good and, importantly, not overly greasy or oily, which can sometimes be an issue at other places. The prices are also competitive, especially considering the portions and quality of the food. It is the kind of place where you can order a good spread, share a bunch of dishes, and feel like you got a solid meal for the money. I also love that they bring out sugared peanuts when you sit down. It is a small touch, but a really nice one. The restaurant has plenty of seating, though service can be a bit slow at times, so good luck flagging down a waiter when it gets busy. You can also tell they are a high-volume dumpling restaurant because there is often steam in the dining room, which can make the restaurant feel a little warm at times. The slippery shrimp had a nice crisp with a pleasant blend of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. There's a slight spice from the red chili that felt mild on my tongue. This was our first time trying out the dish, and we liked it the most. The orange chicken tasted solid, and it had a slightly crispy texture. We took ours to-go and it was still so good! ---- Overall: if I'm ever back in Pasadena I'll be sure to stop by for dim sum, classic dishes with an elevated taste, pricey but worth it

Perfect family dim sum experience for us…read more We took out my parents and in-laws for dim sum: my parents' very first time ever. We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. Once we were seated, my parents were immediately impressed with the decor: elegant and cultural without feeling overly modern or cold. And can we talk about the tea kettles? They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try

The service is consistently great... attentive, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. Fair warning for anyone new to Sichuan cuisine, the dominant flavor is "spicy". That said, the dishes are not just about heat... they're layered, aromatic, and incredibly well-balanced. Every dish I've tried has been outstanding, both in flavor and presentation. If you're a fan of bold, authentic flavors and reliable service, this spot is definitely worth visiting. Tip - If you're new to the cuisine, I strongly recommend getting everything MILD spicy. I've been told by some of my colleagues that MILD spicy is still pretty spicy, so be warned. With that said, strongly recommend the dishes below. Lamb with Cumin 11/10 - My favorite dish here by far. Aromatic, flavorful, and the spices are just on point. Dan Dan Noodles 9/10 - Solid and consistently good. The sauce is properly seasoned and truly compliments the perfectly cooked noodles. Shredded Cabbage with Pork 9/10 - Not to be confused with twice cooked pork. This dish is so simple and bland looking, but it's packed with flavor... so good! Garlic Pork Belly 8/10 - This is a cold dish. The meat was perfectly cooked and properly coated in chili oil. Solid and consistently good. Kung Pao Chicken 8/10 - In my opinion, it's an elevated Kung Pao Chicken. Solid and consistently good.

Overall we enjoyed our meal and experience and would totally come back to try other dishes…read more Food - everything was fresh tasting. Lobster: we enjoyed the Colette special sauce, it was aromatic with the basil, good level of spice, and lobster meat was cooked perfect. Salt and pepper calamari: great crunch, wish it had a little more salt & pepper & garlic seasoning most pieces weren't coated, but the calamari texture had the perfect chew. Crispy vermicelli with beef: loved the crispy noodles and soft beef stir fry textures together, definitely ask for chili oil with this dish, it needs that extra umph of flavor for the noodles. Salted egg yolk pumpkin: I normally love this dish, only wished the outside was crispier, got soggy fast and with how thick these are cut you want the crispy exterior, but flavor was good. Only thing that made me feel a bit "eh" was the chipped plateware they have and continue to use. Service - wonderful! Everyone was so friendly and had nice customer service. They even helped recommend dishes and also share opinions on what we shouldn't order which I loved. Parking - free parking lot! There are a few spaces right in front of the restaurant. But around the side there's more parking as well.
