I visited the Dun Dornaigil Broch after stopping by Loch Hope and before making the final push to Ullapool to catch a ferry to Stornoway on Wednesday 10 July 2019. The broch was easy to spot from the main road and was approximately 2 miles south of Ben Hope and its corresponding car park. Signage/informational placard(s) communicated the broch was built over 2,300 years ago and reached as tall as approximately 7 metres. Collapse partially made the interior inaccessible. The River Strathmore ran past the broch. Access was via a road branching south from A838 in a town named Hope. When leaving, I followed it to connection with A836 and headed south. My phone did not have reception, and it was raining and hailing, and I found a paper map I had packed to be an effective guide to navigate by. read more
