Another popular element of the Peanut Farm Reserve is the "Veg Out" Community Gardens that is located just across the road at the former St Kilda Bowling Club. The gardens are primarily rented by residents of apartments in the area and offer local residents the opportunity to express themselves in a small plot of soil, which results in many colourful artistic displays. Dog friendly, the reserve is a central spot for locals to exercise, partake in sporting activities or simply bring the kids for a run around.

I like Leigh Park because it is a community center. Lots of locals come along and watch the cricket during the summer and the oval buzzes with activity during winter when the kids have Auskick on the weekend. While during summer the oval can take a beating from the heat and turn into a dustbowl, it is lush and green in winter and the perfect place to practice laps or sprints, or even just hang out with a picnic with the kids or the dog. There is a small strip of shops a short stroll away where you can get sweets from the milk bar or coffee from the little café. Although I have to admit I haven't been on the playground (yet!) it does look like a lot of fun and it seems to be fairly safe.

Well, this isn't quite the case since Healesville is reasonably close to Melbourne, but it is far enough away to consider it to be a country town. The park itself is quite large actually, and has quite a bit of shade, in the form of trees, as well. Another thing is that there is a creek flowing through it, which I also quite like. Oh, and there are plenty of places to sit, as well as play equipment, and the gym type equipment that you tend to find in a lot of these places as well.

Wattle Park also offers an undercover stage area- I don't know what it's used for though, and a fun looking playground. There are also bbq and bathroom facilities here. This is a nice park to take a quite walk in, the pathways are usually a fine pebble and the park is on a slant (so lots of uphill's or downhill's). I enjoy coming here to exercise and walk the dogs, but probably wouldn't chose this play for a picnic/bbq- only because I like being in big open spaces that allow me to gaze into the distance.

Talaskia Reserve is located inbetween Angliss Hospital and a primary school. It is quite a popular…read morespot and the little playground is often quite busy. There is a footy oval complete with goals and a fence all the way around. There is ample room around most of for spectators or for kids to run around. The fence nearest the car park has rocks right up to the fence so you can't watch from there. The car park is quite large, however often parents use it when they are picking up their kids from school and it can get quite busy around those times. If it gets full there is hospital parking just across the road as well as street parking. There are also a few tennis courts alongside the playground and a few tennis clubs operate here. They are red dirt courts, which I hate because I have white runners and they always get dirty. My favourite part about the reserve is the little ducky ride in the playground. It is a giant springy toy in the ground that rocks back and forth but it is super cute and the kids love it.

The ovals host cricket and footy games and the clubhouse is where all the magical tactics are discussed. There is also plenty of room around the outside of the oval for families to sit and non-playing kids to run around. It is a great family hang out. Lots of people come here to let their dogs off the lead and run around however it is visited by the council very frequently so I would be cautious about doing this.

Also, it does happen to be Australia, and it seems that building huge parks near the centre of the city is sort of one of our things. There is lots to do here, including a playground, and a number of sporting ovals, though the main one is used for professional footballers. There is even a nice ornamental pond at the northern end, and of course plenty of places to relieve yourself, which is certainly quite important.
