I do not enjoy the acidity of the flash brew. Your cold brew you used to have on tap was so good. Like the best in town. Kinda bummed on the flash brews. Cold brew was where it's at. But ya everything else they do is fire. Their pastries are hella good too. So ya Dune. Bring back the cold brew homies that stuff was such a vibe. Flash brew is like the opposite of a vibe. I'm honestly surprised I don't hear that many people going to Dune Coffee from the university. They make high quality drinks, excellent breakfast foods including avocado and honey cashew toast. The bread they use is really high quality and very addicting. To top this, their servers are very friendly and the space in Goleta makes a very good study space! Highly recommend! read more

Great coffee. I stop here every time I am in Santa Barbara for work. The staff isn't set up for success, though. I feel bad for the people working this morning :( The process for ordering in person could be improved. Several people stepped out of line to order online and their orders were promptly fulfilled. Meanwhile, it took me nearly 20 mins for a coffee and a bagel with only 3 people ahead of me in line. Much of that time was spent watching the staff walking back and forth to complete tasks because everything is set up so far apart. I'd recommend that a manager or owner go through the process on both sides during a busy time - as a customer and the register worker - to look for ways to improve the customer experience. No outlets here; make sure your electronics are fully charged if you're planning to work. I enjoy the vibe Dune has- it's calm compared to the hustlin' and bustlin' attitude that goes on at other coffee places. The shop is about a five minute drive from campus. I would come here occasionally to study when I was a student, or for a quick meet-up with friends. Parking in the plaza is ample, and there's a good amount of tables inside and out. It's a simple menu, but they serve everything from Americanos to Macchiatos. I usually order a vanilla latte, hot or iced depending on the weather. For something very sweet and creamy, try the Iced Tres Leches! If you are a fan of tea, Dune has a variety of different flavors to choose from. Their food options are on the slim side as well, with a couple of toasts, croissants, and other pastries. I love their chocolate croissants, it always feels freshly baked. If you choose this one, request to have it warmed up. Their avocado toast was okay, I'm not particularly a fan but that's probably because I thought the radish was overpowering. Toast with almond butter/honey was great. Also appreciate Dune for serving their food on washable plates and metal cutlery if you choose to "dine-in". Pretentious over priced coffee shop that has lackluster quality, staff, or ambiance. I'm all about paying a premium for a great cup of coffee... but this place is just an overpriced Dunkin' Donuts. Ambiance is drab, coffee is drab... and they charge 20% more for a non-dairy milk. Even the "corporate" Starbucks is ending the extra charge on plant based milks. They're all about the aesthetic of being "Santa Barbara, and environmentally friendly"... but they're just greenwashing Luddite's. The French press is a great place to get some work done! I love the open layout and the big windows here, creating a bright inviting space. I can't comment on the coffee since I'm not a coffee drinker, but their matcha latte is very good and they have a good selection of teas. The drinks were decent, but it seemed as though the quality was better at the other location. Dune Coffee Roasters are plastered all over: painted on wall, t-shirts, coffee mugs -- so much for the name "The French Press" which is really just outside signage. However, they have damn good coffee and really good-looking pastries. Cute place, cool music and overall good hang. Best feature: amazing service but a caring and smiley staff. But, there are issues that stop them from a 5.0 star review: No plugs! Guess that means someone with a laptop stays 2 hours max with a full-charged laptop! If you need to study or work with a laptop, I recommend Starbucks across the street. read more

The service and hospitality these ladies provided were absolutely heart warming. They offer homemade pastries that will have you reminiscing of your grandma's fresh baked treats!! So this place is DARLING- very open floor plan so plenty of space while waiting for your coffee, minimal room inside for sitting, studying, etc. - and yall, I am not exaggerating- NO OUTLETS so no you can't charge a darn thing (the only downside!) -but the drinks are fire, and I cannot say enough good things about the staff. I haven't been the biggest fan of French Press in the past but the opening of this Goleta location has really changed the game for them. I am very impressed with the kind staff they hired on, the variety of pastries they have available, and the wide space for parking and hanging out. Though the coffee is the same as the others, more on the bitter side and a little overpriced, the barista here helped me figure out what I may like best. He also directed me to my new favorite pasty, The Apple Butter Croissant. Which is funny cause I had actually asked for a different pasty but in grabbing that one by accident and him going on and on about how amazing it is I couldn't argue. Do bring a fully charged laptop, or notebook, or reading book as they do not have plug-in outlets here just strong wifi. There is a plug in the bathroom but wouldn't rely on that! Would recommend on a sunny day for meeting up with others to study outside on the large patio. read more

The coffee here is absolutely delicious! You can taste freshly roasted beans although I recommend adding an extra shot to get more of a coffee flavor. This is my go-to coffee spot whenever we're in town. I always judge the quality of a cafe's coffee by their Vanilla Latte. There's is Definitely quality. The coffee is strong and the barista always measures in just the right amount of vanilla syrup as not to take away from the coffee flavor itself. They are always consistent. Wish this particular location sold the lavender macarons like their shop on State street. It compliments well with the vanilla. read more

This cold brew is really watered-down. It came from the tap and it is more similar to a coffee bean flavored water refresher than a cofee drink. The staff members were friendly and the location was clean and tidy. I wouldn't recommend the cold brew here though. You should get something else. read more

I visit Dune several times a week, and I think the only complaint I can think of is that there are no outlets. Besides that, everything is perfect. The coffee is excellent - I've tried cappuccinos, matcha, iced lattes, and hot lattes and they're all really wonderful. The quality of alternative milks is really good (they use Califia Farms) and the espresso is always strong and flavorful. I absolutely love their matcha -- I believe it's Mizuba and when you order it with honey and cinnamon it's delightful. I've also tried the croissants and the toasts and they're all super yummy. The cinnamon sugar one is probably my favorite. The baristas here are some of the kindest people I have ever met. They are so genuine and warm, and I love seeing them when I order. There is plenty of seating, always great music, WiFi, and just a really relaxing and cozy vibe. read more

I appreciate this place because I can tell the use fresh ingredients instead of powdery stuff or lots of artificial sugars. I got a tres leches coffee and also a green tea latte. Both kind of shocked me because it wasn't as sweet as I was used to but I learned to appreciate it because I can taste the real coffee and matcha that's in there. I really liked their almond with honey bread. That was a thick slice of sourdough toast with some almond and honey drizzled over it. Again, it wasn't overly sweet which made it taste so fresh! This tends to be a big spot for UCSB students to study (I mean, that's why I was there) which can often mean there is limited seating. This isn't necessarily bad though, because they really could jam the place with tables/chairs but they don't which helps keep the environment relaxing. There is also outdoor seating as well. There are a variety of different pastries and foods you can order to supplement your caffeine habit, though the coffee is the real star here. I am massive fan of Dune roasters and I have never been disappointed by my drinks here. Though there are many different locations of the French Press in the SB/Goleta area, I prefer this one because of its proximity to campus and it's open, FREE parking. read more
