**BEWARE** I would…read moregive minus 5 stars if I could. This place KILLED my dog. We took out healthy 5 year old GSD in for some routine procedures and received a phone call a few hours later that our dog had died. i don't know if it they gave him too much sedative's/anesthesia or if someone gave him too much of whatever they give them to wake them up. Either way my very healthy young dog is now DEAD. My dog was getting a hematoma on his ear fixed and we figured that would be a good time to get him nurtured and his teeth cleaned as well. None of these things needed done and were in no way life threating or complicated procedures. It should have been a warning to us the few times we went there no one was on the same page. You would talk to someone on the phone and when you get there it was like no one had any idea about anything that was discussed. it was the same way after we talked to the Dr and received a treatment plan. Then when when we went back a week later it was like they had no idea what was going on. This place wont even take accountability. "Sometime things happen" BOTTOM LINE IS SOMEONE SCREWED UP AND NOW MY DOG IS DEAD......!!!!!!! **BEWARE**

I have no idea how I haven't reviewed NACC yet, so in honor of our dawg's Gotcha Day coming up,…read morehere I am! The staff and volunteers absolutely do a fantastic job here, and the animals receive attention and love while they wait for their forever home. I followed them on Facebook for a while, watching longingly as adorable photo/bio combinations popped up in my feed, sometimes showing the Husband pups who were particularly sweet-sounding. It's all about breaking the resistance down slowly over time. Drip effect, folks. They've been indoctrinated without even realizing it and suddenly the whole family is in the car on their way to see a sweet Husky girl. Who of course is already adopted when you get there. And of course your son falls in love with a handsome pit bull who OF COURSE you take home instead. This is the cheapest animal I've ever adopted, and he came neutered, microchipped, tagged, vaccinated, and checked for food and toy aggression. Moreover, he's been the best friend for our son for a year now. Maybe they could have warned us that he's a bed hog, though!

PLEASE LISTEN TO THE OTHER 1 STAR REVIEW. I had the same experience…read more I went to this shelter earlier this week and fell in love with a beautiful cat. I was told I was the third applicant and that I would be contacted if the first 2 applicants were no longer interested. I received an email that the cat was available and asked me if I was still interested. I sent 4 emails and left 1 voice message the same day. 2 days later I sent a fifth email and received a short reply that the cat was given to someone else. Should you apply for a cat or dog, sure, but expect the shelter to play some games with you. I was a longtime foster with NACC and have donated for years. I'll be taking my business elsewhere since they can't be decent enough to respect my time.

My wife and I were headed to the Raleigh Farmer's Market a little over a year ago, and she decided…read moreto stop on the way in Cary at a fabric store. Bored as I would be with that, I walked over to PetSmart to watch the rats and lizards and all. Turns out there was a representative from PAWS there with a kennel full of kittens looking for homes. Needless to say, one of them came home with us that day, and we've been better for it. PAWS did a great job keeping up with the kittens' medical needs, as all of the kittens were already litter trained, had up to date medical exams, and had been fully vaccinated, dewormed, and spayed or neutered. Considering that, they had the adoption fee set at $75, which is pretty reasonable, considering the amount of work they did for you. The animal foster family there that day also had their foster animals on a high quality diet of Innova canned kitten food (our cat's still on Innova, but we switched her to dry food after a few weeks) and seemed to be very well socialized. First of all, I support ANY group that tries to keep animals out of high-kill shelters. Secondly, PAWS makes the adoption process exceptionally easy for any of their animals. And third, they try to find homes for animal stuck in high-kill shelters (I know that's a repeat, but it's important). I honestly don't care where you adopt your pet, since that's one less animal confined to a shelter, but I had to gives PAWS 5 stars for making it especially easy.

The adoption fees were extremely affordable for everything they do for your new family member, and they are extremely responsive to messages and will answer any questions for you. The adoption process itself is very easy and quick with them, and I would highly recommend anyone wanting to rescue to check them out. I drove three hours to go pick up my boy there as they were holding an adoption event and they made sure things were all taken care of and ready for me upon arrival. Thank you all so much!
