If you can't handle "rustic" and the "real deal" farm and country lifestyle then this place isn't for you. The cider is delicious - and the peary, too! Fresh local veg is in the backroom if you are self catering or in the neighborhood for a farm store, and ask the locals about cheese - the best Somerset cheddar I ever had (paired with a medium cider) was life changing. Check out the Banksy on the wall. As a wine and beverage writer, I was really excited to learn more about Wilkins' story and production process. Roger was in and out, often busy tending to the farm - including bottle feeding a newly born calf. I hung out with the regulars, who kindly welcomed me into the circle and showed me around the property. By the end of my two hour visit (it could have been longer for sure) I was pouring my own cider and hanging out with locals that I can't wait to see on my next visit. A magical place with great cider, cheese, and people - just what you want from Somerset.

They have a rotating ale/beer and cider menu with a few favorites that are kept. I ordered 3 of 4 ciders available and got a nice sized pork pie which I didn't finish. I'll definitely be back! Who would have thought that Monmouth was the wine producing region of Wales? I don't suppose it's…read morethe only one, but it's certainly the closest to Cardiff! Wernddu Vineyard are a pretty small producer, but less is definitely more where they are concerned. Their white wine is exceptional! (And that's from a predominantly red wine drinker too!) They also produce perry and cider, but I'm not too keen on alcohol made from apples and pears, and so rarely go near it. My friends, however, are more than happy to testify that it is as equally good as the wine! For a small business, they are pretty self-contained. Wernddu Vineyard process and bottled all of their beverages on site, and then they retail it too, meaning that they manage to cut out all of the middle men. This is good news fr everybody as it keeps the price down, but still allows Wernddu Vineyardto make a healthy profit, ensuring that they stay in business for a good time to come! All of their beverages are available direct from their winery, or you can buy it from a number of farmers markets as well.

Throughout the year many local markets and events are held on these grounds. You can visit the actual Priory and enjoy the beautiful treasures it holds (glass stained windows, historical religious pieces, the woodwork and stoneworks,...). The staff at the Priory are very friendly. You can support with cash or card donations, purchase Christian books, postcards, etc. Regular services are held here weekly as well as musical events (choirs, classical music,...). At certain advertised dates and times of the year the bell tower is open to the public. It's a definite must to visit whether you are religious, Christian or not. Pay the priory a visit and help maintain it for future generations.
