Alright, real talk here: the only reason I headed to Dunkin' Donuts was to take advantage of their offer of a free donut on Global Donut Day (June 6th) with the purchase of any beverage. It's been a while since I've indulged in this fried confectionary so... I guess I was also killing two birds with one stone (gosh, what a violent proverb!)?
The Dunkin' Donuts in Westfield Glenfield is your typical food outlet situated in the food court of a mall; not the most flash location, though the brightly lit neon orange and pink branding is bound to catch your attention. Either others were also making the most of this hole-y day or that it was 6pm on a Friday evening, but there was actually a line of about four customers deep and only one person working.
Alongside my order of a regular hot Cappuccino ($3.80), I selected the classic Strawberry Frosted Donut, better known as the 'Homer Simpson donut'. Being a small outlet located in the middle of a mall food court, the donuts are not made on-site so you are never really getting a fresh donut. That said, they still do a good job of making their donuts a nice treat: not too greasy nor too dry with an even smothering of sugar-overloading icing. Unfortunately, I don't have the same praise for their cappuccino. The coffee I had previously at another Dunkin' Donuts store was enjoyable, but this one seemed to resemble instant coffee more than anything. Definitely stick to their donuts!
There's nothing that really stands out for this particular branch of a chain store, but a decent option if you're in need of a sweet fix after a long day of shopping in the mall. read more
