I'm not a Dunkin crazed fanatic at all. I think Dunkin' Donuts does a good job in the States with…read moredonuts and coffee so when we passed by this Dunkies, my friend wanted a coffee. It looks like a DD but it's not quite a DD. It doesn't have that same sweet sugar smell. And the coffee isn't "American" coffee. It's espresso-based which is fine but isn't the same as the classic Dunkin drip coffee that we know well throughout the USA. Oh, and it's not at all cheap. A single donut (chocolate frosted, original glazed) is CHF3.90 which runs to about $4.50. [Review 21209 overall - 59 in Switzerland - 173 of 2024.]

I was pretty excited when DD opened their first shop here in Switzerland. But since we are all on…read morethe crazy health-train here I already expected that they won't taste the same like in the States. But it couldn't be that bad...could it? Yes....it could! The dough isn't the same at all like the ones in the USA. This one here is healthier, tastes not like a Donut. It tastes the same like any store-bought "Berliner" you can get anywhere here. That's not a Donut! Then the toppings. I ordered a Glazed Donut. In the states you'll need sunglasses to look at a glazed Donut....so shiny! But here...I almost couldn't see the sugar glaze. Thin...pale...it looked like it's sorry for itself! And then...these Donuts are not fried. They're baked.... so it absolutely cannot taste original. A real let-down. And 6.40 CHF for a glazed and a strawberry sprinkled Donut is just too much. Even for Switzerland. Dunkin Donuts Switzerland only has the name in common. At first glance it might look like the real thing. After the first bite you know it's not. I always preferred Krispy Kreme over DD, but I thought: Hey, better DD than nothing at all here in my country. But now I don't care if they disappear again. Maybe Krispy Kreme will open one day....offering the real thing. Only good part: Staff was fast and friendly!

I came here based on a recommendation of a colleague, the service was extremely friendly and swift so no complaints on that part. We started with a bottle of sake and had several dishes, the sashimi was fresh and cheap (to Swiss standards): the tuna on it wasn't very special but I have not seen many sashimi platters which had fresh raw shrimp in Switzerland so kudos to that. Overall the food was of good quality and we were statisfied eating the recommended 3 dishes per person. However, my friend wanted a dessert so I choose a the tofu donut. Initially we were considering splitting since I don't really have a sweet tooth but decided against it since my friend wanted one for herself. Best decision ever. This was the best dessert I've eaten in a very very long time. I know that tofu doesn't sound appealing to most people but this is the most delicious creamy ice cream combined with a scrumptious fritter. My mouth waters just thinking about it. They should rename this place to AMAZING JAPANESE DONUTS and I am sure it would have a line in front of the door. I will be back just for the donut. Recommended!

This is one of the few places in Switzerland that I've seen with real American-style bagels. Well,…read morethey do tout themselves as an American bakery, so it's good that they are trying live up to their namesake. ;) In addition to bagels, they also sell donuts, coffee cake, cookies, muffins, banana bread, bagel sandwiches, muesli, yogurt, and an array of hot and cold drinks. They only offer two kinds of bagels--plain and blueberry. Both are good--but like the giant bretzels in this country... cold. I wish they would toast them, but hey--beggars can't be choosers. Only the plain bagels come filled with cream cheese. And they totally stuff the bagel with so much cream cheese that it's literally exploding out of the bagel and made a mess when I was trying to eat it. The cream cheese tasted pretty good, but it wasn't American Philly. There was actually way too much filling, and although I love cream cheese, I was actually starting to feel a little bit sick from eating it. This place used to be on the main floor of Zürich Hauptbahnhof, but now they've relocated underground to the recently renovated Shopville section, which is much nicer for dining in. Prices are in line with the rest of Switzerland... which means high for anyone coming from another country. They also accept Reka Card and credit cards as forms of payment, so that's nice. Although it's really easy to make banana bread at home, I made an impulse decision at the counter to try a slice of their banana bread. Turns out it contained hazelnuts in addition to the standard walnuts... so I guess typical Swiss. It was really moist, but way too sweet for my liking.

Quality food, affortable. For being at the central train station, good prices and cute places to…read moresit!
