The painter we hired uses only Dunn-Edwards paints, so we headed over to this location to get some samples to see what colors would look good on our walls. While the selection of colors here isn't as extensive as Benjamin Moore, they did have some good shades to pick from. The samples came in a fairly large plastic jar, for a very reasonable price. The only gloss choice they have for the samples is "velvet", which was fine since that was the finish we wanted for our interior anyways. The paint was easy to apply, with good coverage. I've been by a few times, and each time service has been cheerful and friendly. With our paint job finished, I'm loving the wall colors! We also had our exterior trim painted which Dunn-Edwards matched quite well using a paint chip from a Sherwin Williams brand color. Our trim also looks great! read more

I was dreading going here after reading reviews, although I did notice many are from as far back as 2015 and not useful. Dave at the counter took great care of me. I had numbers for mixed paints from 2008, and he punched them in, sent the order to the guys in the back and presto! I had my touch up paints. While I was waiting, I saw seating for 8 people at 2 different tables in the lobby. There were three folks up front and I interacted and spoke with each. They were pleasant, customer focused, quick moving, and great to deal with. I'll go back again when it's time to repaint the interior. Meanwhile, those old reviews don't reflect my experience...and they're open 7 days a week! I can't think of anything they could do better, and I'm very happy. Painting is done and it looks great. Yes, I have been coming to this place for years! For as long as I can remember. The thing that I like the most about this place is the choice you have here. They carry paint colors that you cannot find at Home Depot, they keep the colors for a long time, and they can match any color that you bring in. It is a good quaility of paint as well. It lasts longer on the wall. A nice rich color. The staff is very knowledgable about the products. Which is also a really good thing. Lots of parking outside and good hours. You may think that you are paying more here and you are. However, you are getting a better product in my opinion. Hey, just letting you know. read more

This one star is simply for the lack of customer service received when they double charged my credit card via a telephone order. I first called them about this when i noticed the double charge. Monique informed me they were having credit card issues, and that it would probably just 'drop off'-- next day, the charge had gone through. I called the store manager and he said he could do nothing about that - to call my bank, he could do nothing. I asked if he could use look up the charge and issue back a credit -- nope, I had to call my bank. It was 'my' problem now. All companies can reverse charges....this is just pure laziness and complacency. You don't treat customers like this if you want them to return. So now I have 400 of charges for a few gallons of paint, my bank will send me all this paper work to fill out, and Dunn Edwards could care less....thanks for wasting my time. read more

I had a great experience at this store. Went in to get some paint matched. The guys at the counter were great. They didn't oversell me and provided me with exactly what I needed. The touch ups done at the condo match perfectly. I'm sure my landlord will be happy. And I'll definitely consider Dunn Edwards when I start painting my house. read more

ALWAYS CHECK THAT THEY GAVE YOU THE RIGHT PAINT!!! These idiots can't get a simple paint color right. I should have checked before I started painting too. I bought one gallon of what I thought was Whisper Grey. After completely painting the room I notice the gallon said LIGHTHOUSE!!!! Ughhh! I only painted this room as part of my contract for when I moved out of the office space. The owner of the space sent me a picture of the paint which I showed to the people at Dunn-Edwards. I walked in and the girl and man at the counter looked me up and down rudely for reasons I don't know. I stood in line and the petite girl with dark hair was ignoring me anyway. But the guy standing next to her finally greeted me and then she suddenly pipes up to help me. She spoke to me in a loud, abrasive tone that was off putting and when I asked if they had a sample of a certain paint, she said no. I thanked her and left and she said your welcome in a saccharine, seemingly insincere way as I was walking out. I shook my head as I left. So then I called two other Dunn Edwards and both of them said they do give samples of that exact paint and both staff were polite and more chill. I went to one of those stores (in Phoenix) and they treated me with more respect. No weird looks or unfriendly tones. I suggest skipping this store and hitting up the Phoenix ones instead. You will not only get better service elsewhere, you will get the sample of paint you want. read more

I work part time for a painting business while I attend college. My boss only uses Dunn Edwards paints and I have purchased from them for my own personal painting needs. I always go with the Sparta Wall series, it is an excellent product- better than anything you will find at your local home improvement store. I've placed orders through multiple stores in Phoenix metro and this store has always been the most pleasant to do business with as their employees always greet you with a smile and superior customer service. read more

We decided to paint our house just short of 3 years ago, and the job was finished in 12/22/2012. We thought the house looked great with the darker color (one of the HOA recommended schemes). About a year ago, we started to notice fading and streaking, especially on the front surfaces over the garage. Hubby kept after me to call our painter, but life was too busy. So we finally called 2 weeks ago, and our painter said the job's out of warranty, but to call his rep Tom Wilkinson about it. I called, left a message. When Tom called back, he said to call my painter back & they will set up a time to come out to see the paint job. When Tom & our painter Larry arrived that following Monday, the day was overcast & cold. All of us - Tom, Larry, hubby & I - looked at the streaks. Tom noted that the shaded areas (under the eaves) and the lighter contrast areas were fine; it was only the dark color that was the problem. He tried to blame it on the extreme heat, the rain, the wind, etc...until I told him that we live in a lovely little pocket where we don't get much rain, wind, a slightly cooler heat, etc. After much discussion, Tom took out a squeeze bottle of phenolphthalein from his truck & scraped away the stucco from an area behind our gate to test the alkalinity of the stucco.(Keep in mind that our house is 15 years old.) He said that the stucco would turn violet if it was not cured enough, and it did turn violet. He said it wasn't the paint, but that the stucco was too alkaline to handle the paint used on our house. This was their professional product, VersaFlat, and admitted that the paint was not one he would have recommended for our house - in fact, we should have used a primer before painting (what?!?) & then used a "premium" house paint - which happens to be the only D-E paint with a limited lifetime warranty. That same day, I called D-E corporate in LA & obtained the phone numbers/email addresses for Tom's supervisor Craig Pearce and his supervisor Debbie A. in Tempe. Craig called back the next day after receiving the results of the "batch test" Tom had submitted - which was a barcode scan off the paint label & not an actual sample of the paint. We already knew that would be normal, and was forwarded a copy of the email between Tom & the D-E chemist by our painter. I let hubby handle Craig's call, because I was so ticked off by this point that I knew I couldn't be civil. Hubby called him out on his BS in a calm manner, but Craig got quite condescending toward the end of the call & put out a deal: If we could get our painter (small businessman) to do the job for free, Craig would supply us with all the primer & paint we'd need to repaint the house. His words were,"Your painter already blew you off, didn't he?" and he added that if the smallest amount of money changes hands between us & the painter, we would be responsible for the cost of the paint/primer. And that really angered us. What an ass!!! We're retired, on fixed income, can't afford another paint job. We're getting ready to sell the house & move on. We cannot impose on our painter to carry the loss on our behalf, since he did his job very well. Add to this the fact that Dunn-Edwards (supposedly having developed its paints for the Southwest extremes) is the only paint used by our neighborhood complex in South Chandler. Only certain schemes are recommended. To look at the houses on our street, you'd see the same oxidized look to the buildings, regardless of color. Our painter said he would call Craig & give him his opinion on this, but I don't expect much else to happen to rectify this situation. But Larry can let other painting contractors know, just as we will, that Dunn-Edwards doesn't stand by their product after 2 years. I don't know how much good it would do for SherwinWilliams to buy them out (they've got Frazee & are sniffing), but apparently SW has a product that will get the job done. So much for product quality & customer service in this day & age. read more

Just finished interior painting of whole house with DE paint. We needed a quart of one color for future touch up. We had used highest quality paint for all work and ordered 1 qt of same quality to be picked up next day. When we made a special trip to pick up our order we found they had mixed a lesser quality paint b/c no one told us when we ordered that DE does not mix high quality in a quart size. Personnel told my husband to just take the lesser paint as we wouldn't even be able to tell the difference. That's like saying "Don't ever bother with our best more expensive stuff as it really doesn't make a difference." Not standing by product IMO. Husband opted to go with a gallon of the good stuff, pay more and wait for it to be mixed. NO offer for reduction in price for their mistake and our inconvenience. Very very unhappy with customer service at the Southern Ave store. read more
