He's a (somewhat) knowledgable doctor but has a massively inflated ego. The first time I went he said that he doesn't want to treat ANYONE that goes to another doctor (including if you're travelling and need a doctor for a few months in another state/country). On the 2nd visit I had with him he said there was a "breakdown in communication" between us because I didn't want him as my primary care doctor and had medical attention from another doctor since the last visit (I dont know why his staff allowed a 2nd apt to happen if he was so against it). At that point the appointment was a waste, so I left. Got a letter in the mail less than a week later saying that he'd never treat me again because there was a "breakdown in communication". Really unneeded, condescending, and holier than thou attitude. If you don't want a patient to come into your office, don't let your staff book them, that simple. If you're looking for a knowledgable doctor that is the only doctor you go to, this is your guy. If you're like the rest of the world and theres a chance you'll visit another doctor, don't waste your time here because he will refuse to treat you and you'll get a rude letter in the mail that you hurt his feelings for visiting other doctors too.

Upon arriving, Miranda at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. During my visit with Jessica she is super thorough and addressed all my concerns. I didn't feel rush which is unusual because at other places you only visit with the Doctor/Nurse Practitioner for maybe 2 minutes and then they are rushing out the door; definitely not Jessica. She took the time to talk to me about everything and I felt like she actually listened to me and wanted to help. She worked with me with my prescriptions; one was pricey so we switched to another prescription to help with the cost. She actually dropped off coupons for the new prescription the next day for me to my house (with my approval)!!! First she sat down like I was inconveniencing her time. She asked me what I was there for. I told her I have been experiencing worsening symptoms for well over a decade, that I keep getting bounced around by doctors and I need help. I had my labs. I had a condition confirmed by three specialists. I asked her for a specific test. She said she wouldn't order it because one thing did not fit this disorder. She was so completely rude and uncaring. She told me I am making up symptoms, shamed me for symptoms, and told me to take Tylenol for my pain. It was such a horrific experience, it ended up triggering a severe mental breakdown. My medical advocate was with me and tried to help but she couldn't believe what was happening. The wonderful bit of the appointment was her ordering labs that have nothing to do with my symptoms and I believe she ordered them to hurt me. This doctor is completely dangerous. Do not put yourself through the mental anguish. Seek care outside of this county.

Dr. Kovalow-St. John didn't offer any treatment or offer to refer her to anyone else. She was abrupt during visits and failed to timely return phone calls. Dr. Kovalow-St. John's failure to effectively listen to my family member symptoms to diagnose her condition resulted in many more months of soul-crushing unending intense pain and marked increase in the degree of deformity in her affected fingers. My family member gave up on r. Kovalow-St. John and sought treatment with another physician. A more competent doctor diagnosed her with lupus in one visit and recommended surgery.
