There is a lot of trees and shrubs and many ducks and fish who equally enjoy any slices of bread thrown in! If you look carefully you can often spot turtles in the water and there is a bridge where you can enjoy a game of pooh sticks - though the sticks do take a long time to get going. It is a very large lake with stepping stones on one side to get over some water - exciting for the kids and worrying for the parents - its a great place to let the kids run off steam and climb trees / play hide and seek - it is also relatively quiet as there are no swings etc so a peaceful walk is normally manageable.

Please also bear in mind certain flumes are height and age restricted so best to chek in advane so you have no tears..

People obviously like the swimming site however as there are always queues to get in. I think the spectator charge at £4 is hugely ridiculous and should be stopped. To sit there and watch children who don;t stay in one place long enough to actually see them is ridiculous, the place could make money from sellng confectionary rather than making people pay to sit on a chair.

There is a lot of space to be able to lay out a picnic blanket. There isn't a lot of stuff to block the views. Quite a lovely place to spend an afternoon. This park is also close to tourist sights and the Mayflower Memorial, which is located across the street. It's not a huge site but it's interesting and historical, especially if you are an American on holiday.

Generally hosts all the fireworks for events and celebrations for Southampton and the parties for any major new cruise ships leaving or entering Southampton waters, its an ideal place to take photos of the large cruise ships coming in! There are some great views of the new super huge cruise ships, as they come all the way past into the Mayflower Terminal. Also host the Southampton Boat Show in September. You can have a walk across a large meadow to see these, and the view from the cliff is very good. (Don't lean over too far - or you'll take up diving really quickly.) The walk can be muddy so go when it's been dry for a few days. You can also sail out to see them, and that's how I achieved this photo. or you can use a kayake. A canoe is not recommended, as there will not be enough weight and strength to counter the tide and waves, and you don't want a good canoe to become match sticks now do you? The whole of the south coast is chalk, so erosion takes place quite dramatically over time. Old Harry (named after a pirate, who, incidentally, raided the Spanish Armada) has been carved away from the cliff face. Old Harry's Wife fell into the sea completely around one hundred and fifty years ago. At the bottom of the rocks, 'doors' are being carved out by the sea. This always looks dramatic as the rock is so white.

More new animals will be arriving soon. There is a large picnic area and refreshment kiosk selling drinks and snacks during busy periods. The Visitor Centre provides information on the Gardens, Animals and the Wildlife that you can look out for in the grounds. The shop sells a wide selection of small gifts and plants. The only downside is the MUD in winter and possibly the price - £5 a head for adults seems a bit steep for a single visit, but the year's season ticket is good value for locals.
