This station was like any other big city train station with lots of food and beverage vendors and lot and lots of activity. We found our track number and started working our way down. Cleary, and easy journey. Once we got to our platform we needed to find the spot to stand at. That was a bit more of a challenge as we did not clearly understand the signs. As things go, we figured it out, the train came and we boarded, stowed our luggage and prepared for the ride to Krakow. All in all, a decent experience. Central station is the hub for train travel in Warsaw. The ticket counters are easy to use and…read morestaff are communicative, but be prepared with a translator app just in case, if you do not speak Polish, since you may have questions. There are many shops (coffee, drugstore, convenience stores, etc) and the station is also connected with the mall. Remember to bring some coins with you when you travel in case you will need to use the restroom (3 zl). The restroom is very clean and well-serviced. The station is located right in the heart of downtown (Śródmieście) so connections to everywhere else or your hotel is easy. The tram, buses, and metro are all within a few minutes' walk (and you can purchase tickets directly onboard the buses and tram).

I was here on 3 occasions. Here are the highlights- 1st it was very easy to get to from our hotel located in the Praga district. 2nd ticket agents are here at 5AM. Yes, an early morning game of charades was easier than kiosk in Polish to purchase train tickets. 3rd very clean and orderly. 4th the bingo boards that announced the track #s were easy to read. Yes they're in Polish but if I could read them so can you. 5th Costas Coffee -- it's kinda like the Starbucks of Europe -- they speak English and can break the large money (bills) -- not easy to do even in banks in Poland. Bonus the have "skinny" milk. 6th taxis are readily available out front with no pre-negotiations of fare it's all on the meter. The not so good - If traveling with luggage, there are no elevators to the tracks. So, if you have luggage be prepared to schlep it up a few flights of concrete stairs.

It is a pretty average train station, similar to what you would expect to see in a U.S. city. Compared to the other Polish stations I've seen, I'd say this one is smaller, not as clean, and with extremely limited dining options. The only places I saw were a horribly rated kebab shop, and a few pastry places downstairs that looked pretty good. It is a little bit out of the main part of the city, but just a decent walk from the old town. Overall, it got the job done, but wouldn't recommend getting here super early because there's not much to see.

This newly re-opened train station (2016) can easily compete with the most stunning of modern-day…read morearchitectural pieces in all of Europe. It's a gem. Natural light beaming through the 10.000 triangle ceiling panels, massive open space makes the train station feel grandiose. It boldly claims it's place in the historic city of Łódź (pronounced: Woodge) as a sign of things to come. The giant roof in the form of an arched canopy makes you forget this is indeed a station, and not say, an airport. It's just so imposing on the space it surrounds. Even if you didn't arrive via this train station, I'd recommend paying a visit. Heck, if you're in Warsaw for a few days, hope on the train (PKP Intercity preferably) and pay Łódź a visit in just a little over an hour. As far as amenities, it covers all the grounds: a fair amount of ticket booths but hardly any shops. Apparently, there's some controversy going on in regards to how PKP (Polish Railroads) is failing at filling up the vacancies. It only had 5 years to prep for this moment (chuckle).
