Came here for hibachi dinner on a Friday night. Got seated in a group since I came with one other individual and the seating space can accommodate ~14 people per grill. This made for a communal experience which was quite fun. Tried the Filet Mignon and the combo shrimp and sirloin combo. We asked for medium-well, which I think the chef did well. The folks who asked for medium, definitely got their portions overcooked. The chef was good at accommodating for allergies by keeping shellfish separate, but it was a tad odd to receive my appetizer of shrimp at the end of my meal for this. The food itself was really plain. The seasoning really was limited to soy sauce, garlic paste, and butter. Everything lacked salt which was surprising. Because of the lack of marination time, the flavors do not really incorporate. There were two sauces including a mayo and a sweet ginger dipping sauce which also was the basis of the salad dressing. Both helped but were not too flavorful. Service was otherwise great and entertaining. This is not a good soot if you want to have conversations and low volume. One other note is a lot of places have begun including tip in the bill, but usually the server will note this. This was not done so we way over tipped for this meal. Wish there was more transparency. I didn't have much hopes for a dimsum place under a hibachi restaurant. But it was actually pretty good. Don't get the mala xiaolong bao though..... it was very pungent and hard to eat. Really over the top on whatever spice oil they used. Everything else was surprisingly better than expected. Spare ribs is a bit too garlicky.... I think they scooped a lot of hibachi garlic into steaming it. Not sure if it is a complaint if you love garlic. I just wanted to elaborate on this: The server was really friendly, helpful, and attentive. (Apparently there is hibachi and/or a party room upstairs where you can be as loud and obnoxious as possible FYI) The Szechuan dumplings were tasty, but the exterior was gluey, which seemed to be a symptom of reheating. But I don't know. Everything else was perfectly sent out as it came: pork fried dumplings, har gow, tofu skin rolls, black fried rice, baked roast pork buns. Again I was craving regular fried rice but opted for this one bc of the Chinese sausage, which I love, but this dish is its own thing. Delicious and sweet and chewy- this and the pork bun were way too sweet for me but totally how it usually is prepared, and well-prepared at that! So ok. I'll get over it. Came here on a weeknight while walking around the area looking for a spot to get a quick bite and was able to be seated immediately at the bar. This place is a combination dim sum and hibachi spot, we obviously only got the dim sum. Seems like a relatively lively place, they had sports on behind the bar and loud music upstairs, where the hibachi grills were. Service was quick and efficient. The food overall was just OK, I think the highlight was the spicy Szechuan dumplings that had really good seasoning. The soup dumplings and beef dumplings were slightly underseasoned for my taste, and the pork bun was verging on too sweet. There seems to be a lot of people coming in with reservations for hibachi so that might be the way to go here, but just coming to order, the dim sum is slightly underwhelming. read more

I walked 30 minutes in the cold to get here and it was worth it. What sold me on coming here was the hello kitty buns (I am a die hard hello kitty fan). When I got there my phone was on low battery and the host plugged it in up front for me so it could charge. Since it was freezing outside I opted for the miso soup as my appetizer and then I ordered the spicy Szechuan dumplings which were also on the appetizer menu but I had to save room for the hello kitty buns. If there's one constant thing about this pandemic, it's this... Expect to be disappointed with every restaurant you are about to enter. I say this because from my experience over the past year, it's been one disappointment after another...in that the restaurant may or may not be open (despite Google or Yelp info on its hours); the restaurant will be out of some items (usually the most popular or the best items); or the restaurant will not be up to their best standard...meaning, the foods are not as fresh, smaller in quantity, or just a substandard version in every possible way (maybe because their usual Chef or waitress/waitresses are out of commission??). Of course, some restaurants even look like war zones...with plastic and aluminum foil partitions and such! Although I know all this, I can't help but keep heading out to restaurants lol...and face this onslaught of disappointment again and again. For this restaurant, it was the case of not having THE item we went there for...the "Five Senses", these colorful soup dumplings, each in different flavor (I've been dying to try these!). Truly ticked me off because on a trip like this, where you uber to places (BTW, the uber fees are VERY high now because you can't do "group rides") just to try that something special on the menu...and then you realize they no longer have it on the menu. Like WTF! ANYWAY, with the big blow aside, we went ahead and ordered some other items on the menu...like the Chicken Dumplings, Spicy Soup Dumplings, and these cute "Pokemon" Dim Sums (Dessert Dim Sums). Thank God they still carried these "Pokemon" Dim Sums still on the menu...another big trend in big cities, of these cute animal-faced Dim Sums. Really loved these cute foods!! Luckily, all of their Dumplings and Dim Sums tasted great...so that helped to soften my disappointment. BTW, the service wasn't that good here. We were in the mood for dim sum but didn't want to make the trek down to Chinatown. This place came up and we were intrigued by the Hello Kitty buns and the overall positive reviews. Overall the food here is average when it comes to authentic dim sum. Granted this not in Chinatown or Flushing so it's a bit expected. Came here for a weekday lunch date with my little one. We sat outdoors in their wooden hut like style seating. I came here Saturday afternoon with a good friend and I was absolutely hangry. Lucky for me (or perhaps lucky for us both), my very first bite of shumai immediately did the trick. We were both actually pretty hungry and ordered a decent amount of food. Here's the rundown: Pork Shumai: As I alluded to above, the pork shumai was absolutely delicious. I'm no dimsum expert but compared to shumai I've had at other establishments, this had the best texture and savory flavor of them all. Soup Dumplings: They were steaming hot, just like I like them. I'd much rather wait a few seconds or a minute for soup dumplings to cool down then to wish they weren't cold, and they nailed the temperature on these. They took the time to serve them each one on a soup spoon which is always appreciated! Each soup dumpling was bursting with flavor. Next time I'll have to try the spicy ones, can't wait! Scallion Pancakes: This is the third restaurant that I've ordered scallion pancakes from in the last 30 days. I was so happy to see that unlike the other two restaurants, these were actually served in pancake form! I'm not sure why places are started to serve them in little brownie bite sizes but I digress... these scallion pancakes were as fabulous as they were flakewy. Bean curd skin with pork: Every dish was great but this was the big winner! We liked it so much that we even ordered seconds, despite already being decently full. I'm not quite sure how to describe the texture, slightly slimy, slightly juicy, but fully enjoyable and 1,000,000% to our satisfaction. This is a bit of an modern dim sum/Chinese place with some South East Asian and other things mixed in along with a hibachi menu. The menu is in short a bit all over the place but there's some good dishes mixed within. I think they're trying to be a fancier place but they have a few general issues. In terms of the dim sum, it's generally overpriced but you'll get better food as well there aren't many good Chinese places in the area. The matcha bun is alright with the outside being more like a melon bun with the sticky sweet filling being the star (as also with the a bit overly sweet baked pork bun.) The sticky rice rolls with pork are fine as are the dumplings. I think the sago pudding from the dessert section was honestly the best thing from there. Not super sweet and very refreshing. The main dishes are served with surprisingly miso soup or salad which brings even more Pan-Asian mix to the food. I agree with someone else's assessment of the the Singaporean Laksa. It's well portioned for lunch and while it lacks the complex broth or better noodles of very good places, it's not like there is anywhere in the local area where you can get Singaporean/Malaysian food. It's in short alright. My personal favorite dish is the oink oink fried rice by a long shot. The forbidden/black rice used adds a good nuttiness and there's a good amount of meat. It's slightly sweet but not overpoweringly and there's a few vegetables around also. This is a very good variation and for the price, there aren't many better options in the area. I wish it was a tad less sweet but I guess I could ask for some chili sauce next time. If this place was in a better food area, I wouldn't see it survive for too long. Outside of the very good fried rice, the dishes are alright, It's in general a bit too expensive for the quality, but for the area, the place is fine. The service is a bit too much hit or miss also. I just had to get my hands on the Hello Kitty buns (coincidentally, free with a Yelp check in)! Happy hour Monday and Tuesday all day. Buy one drink, get one free and they're only $10! So essentially five bucks a drink? What a steal in NYC! They were really tasty too. Our bartender, Brian, hooked it up! My favorite was the key lime and strawberry field. Spicy Szechuan dumplings ($8): These dumplings are packed with filling! And...I liked the sauce so much, I didn't even need to use the two others on the side. 4/5 Five senses dumplings ($12): New to the menu. They all have the same base filling, minus the veggie dumpling, but flavored differently. I didn't dig the veggie one, but the other four are worth it. 4/5 Fried lobster dumplings ($8): Nice and crispy outside, but the inside was a bit flavorless. I drenched it in the dipping sauce and that helped, but not one of the top contenders of the evening. 2.75/5 Steamed rice roll with shrimp ($6): Generous with the shrimp and the rice roll was light and chewy. Ok, I admit, those cute Hello Kitty buns got me. Although I found this place through Yelp, I realized upon visiting that I've previously been to this restaurant when it was named Amber. Dynasty Dim Sum currently shares the space with a hibachi restaurant, Flame, and the ambiance is definitely more upscale than what you would typically find in Chinatown. As for the menu at DDS, we tried an assortment of dishes: crystal shrimp dumpling, shumai, lotus wrap, lobster dumpling, shrimp rice roll, turnip cake and the hello kitty buns. Everything we tried was great and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! Service was also very attentive. The Five senses XLB came in 5 different flavors: onion, veggie, truffle oil, spicy and sweet onion. I thought the skin on the XLB was a bit thick. The truffle XLB was good though. The matcha roasted pork buns only came with two buns. It was like a pineapple crusted bun filled with roast pork but with matcha flavor. I liked it. We didn't like the pan fried pork dumplings because the pork inside the dumplings still looked pink and felt it was undercooked. This type of cuisine is fun and is all about sharing multiple dishes. It is kind of like tapas. We tried the soup dumplings and veggie dumplings to start. Both were delicious and tasted homemade. For lunch we had the chicken pad thai and drunken noodles. My favorite was the drunken noodles they had a chewiness to the noodle that I love. The flavor was spot on and chicken was tender. The pad thai was good but tasted like any pad thai I have had before. I also tried the pork buns where the pork is inside a bun. I have never seen that before. I prefer bao to this type of stuff. Good dim sum place in Murray Hill - nothing too special but there's also not a lot of options for dim sum in the area. The prices are higher than what I'd typically expect for dim sum. I'd say the prices are close to Tim Ho Wan, but without the Michelin star or the acclaim. $8 for 4 pork soup dumplings, $7 for the 3 Hello Kitty Buns (2 inches wide ea), $3 per pork bun, and $7 for the BBQ pork rice roll. Everything was good but not exceptional. The soup dumplings didn't have much soup inside, and the buns had a mediocre (slightly soggy) texture. Then again, I also don't expect dim sum to travel particularly well for take out. I originally had 2 Matcha Buns in my order, and since they didn't have those available they replaced it with 2 pork buns without asking me. I also found it's a genius way to put the soup dumplings onto the individual spoon so that there will never be the frustration of poking the dumpling and losing the soup. I came here for a quick brunch on a Saturday around noon in January 2020. I was staying at a hotel a short walk away and had a craving for dim sum, but didn't feel like going farther out to Chinatown. Dynasty Dim Sum had a pretty varied menu so I thought I'd check it out. When I arrived, the place wasn't too busy; there were a few customers already seated, but multiple available tables. I had a craving for the radish cakes, a childhood favorite, so I ordered those as well as the BBQ pork matcha buns, since I'd never really had anything similar and wanted to try something new. I also got the Hello Kitty buns, complimentary with check-in; these seemed to be pretty well known since the customers at the tables around me had also checked in to get them. I really enjoyed both of the savory items I got. The radish cakes were hot and tasted as I expected and wanted. The matcha buns were very tasty too, although I think I would have maybe liked a bit more filling. The Hello Kitty buns made for a nice dessert and are definitely Instagram-friendly, although I wouldn't have paid for them if they weren't free with check-in. The service was polite and efficient. The prices around this area are a bit high in general, so my final bill of around $17 after tip and tax didn't seem unreasonable given the location of the restaurant. I came here for dinner since it's near work with a group of 3 people. There's no dim sum places in Kips Bay so I was interested in checking it out. We ordered the 5 senses (sweet corn, spicy, onion, truffle oil, vegetable) soup dumplings, lemon bbq pork buns, Hello Kitty buns, piggy buns, and the drunken noodle with chicken. The food was very pretty and the ingredients were high quality. However, the drunken noodle was not spicy at all and was very sweet for some reason. The lemon bbq pork buns had no lemon taste at all. The skin in the soup dumplings was too thick. The piggy buns were too dry, the red bean should be cooked longer. The Hello Kitty buns were delicious. The food was very Instagrammable but not very tasty. The service was very good, attentive and fast. I may or may not come back. I came here with a couple of fries after work for happy hour. This place didn't have much business as the spot next door has good food as well as a really good happy hour. But we gave it ya try. The food looks delicious but was just ok. We found that it was lacking in flavor. The sauces that accompanied each dish were good but there was never enough of it. General tsos meatballs: Fried very hard, to the point wear you couldn't get your fork through it. Came with a really good sauce but wasn't enough. Nice presentation Calamari: Didn't have any flavor itself. Sauce was really good but wasn't enough Lobster soup dumpling: Nice presentation but flavorless has to ask for sauce to go with it Peking Dunk Buns: The duck was really tasty. I did not like the flavor of the bun it was on. Didn't eat it. Happy hour: Expensive $10 for cocktails with a lot of juice and a little alcohol I may try this place again if I'm in the mood for a sit down meal. My friends and I wandered in here for dinner before going out on a Saturday night. We were starving, so thank god we were seated downstairs at a high top right away. I was surprised at how good this dim sum was because there are hundreds of dim sum places in NYC. We ordered soup dumplings, pan fried pork dumplings, crispy shrimp rice roll, shumai, scallion pancakes, and spicy Szechuan dumplings. The food came out super quick and it all tasted awesome. I recommend if you are in this part of the city looking for some tasty, quick dim sum. I'm very impressed by the quality of the dim sum considering I was baited by the hello kitty buns. It's not the best in NY but I've definitely had worse in Chinatown. The location was clean, cute, and a lot more centrally located which is a plus. You could tell the slightly higher prices were going towards the quality. However, everything is very oily so we felt full on very little. Baked pork bun (not pictured): the top was really oily so we blotted it a bit. It's really great and very similar to Mei Li Wah but the meat was a lot leaner and better quality. Pork puffs: good flavor but heavy. The top was very oily. Fried lobster dumplings: there was no lobster. It was all shrimp but it was good. Shu mai: these were amazing. I usually think they all taste the same but these tasted really fresh and didn't seem like the artificial, mass-produced ones. Hello kitty buns: super cute and not too heavy like how yolk buns tend to be. Will definitely be coming again as an alternative to going all the way to Chinatown. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with two dear friends. This place was recommended to me by a friend as she swore this place has better dim sum than the ones you get in Chinatown. And honestly, she was right. We ordered the following: Baked Pork Buns, Shumai, Braised Chicken Feet, Soup Dumplings with Truffle Oil, Soup Dumplings with Crab Roe, Matcha BBQ Duck Buns, Egg Tarts, and Hello Kitty Egg Custard Buns (which you can obtain for free if you check in via Yelp!). All the dishes except the soup dumplings were amazing! Our favorite was definitely the Baked Pork Buns. The dough was so flaky and crisp and the filling wasn't too sweet. The meat in the filling was also very lean and contained such little fat that it wasn't too greasy at all. Honestly could've eaten like 10 more of those. Other dishes were also really good and would recommend! The only thing I would complain about is their soup dumplings. The skin is super thick and the soup really isn't the most authentic. That's the only thing I'd fix here. Otherwise, the food here is really good and I'd be back to enjoy some dim sum! So skip Chinatown and just come here! read more

I had an amazing experience at Dynasty Dim Sum. I think this is actually better than dim sum places in chinatown both price and quality wise, even though the atmosphere is less authentic. Upon arrival, I was skeptical about the authenticity of their food because it seemed like one of those upscale Asian restaurants that are way too expensive for serving inauthentic Asian foods. However, I was surprised at the quality of their dim sum and price. My friends and I (4 of us) got 2 crystal shrimp dumplings, vegetable dumplings, pork dumplings, steamed rice roll w shrimp, 2 baked pork bun, braised chicken feet, shumai, and a bowl of rice. I especially loved the crystal shrimp dumplings and vegetable dumplings so I highly recommend them! However, I thought the steamed rice roll with shrimp was very similar to the crystal shrimp dumplings except it was drenched in soy sauce. I thought I would've been fine just ordering the one of them or instead order a steamed rice roll with different filling. We also got free hello kitty buns with egg custard filling by checking in on Yelp and these were sooo yummy and cute. While the service was attentive overall, they forgot our order for the chicken feet. However they made up for it by giving us free piggy bun with red bean filling which were pretty good! It's kind of hard to find the restaurant because the sign is really small and thus difficult to spot from the outside. You have to look for the name Flame Hibachi which is another restaurant joint together with Dynasty Dim Sum and its sign is easier to spot. Our check came out to be $11 per person which was surprisingly cheap for how much we ate and it's definitely cheaper than what we would've paid if we went to a dim sum restaurant in chinatown. I highly recommend this place I think it's truly a hidden gem in Kips Bay! read more

Oh my goodness!!! The dim sum here is SO GOOD!!! I was in the area for medical appointments at NYU Langone, and craving dim sum. I am so glad I found this place. It's a little difficult to find as the sign is not clear. The word FLAME is prominently on the door, another sign says Hibachi, then underneath that, is the word Dynasty Dim Sum. The place is modern. Not a typical dim sum joint so I was pleasantly surprised the dim sum dishes were SO GOOD!!! I got the spareribs fried, rice rolls with shrimp, lobster dumplings and of course...hello kitty buns. The flavors were authentic, not westernized. The shrimps were individually wrapped in rice rolls. I loved everything and the best part was the friendly and attentive service! This place's location to NYU makes me actually look forward to my medical appointments now. read more

Dim Sum in Murray Hill. Yes, you read that correctly. I really really wanted to love this place. It's in a great location, has a fun atmosphere, and is really nice inside. But the food falls a little short of chinatown standards. We ordered: - Tom yum soup - Was OK, could have been spicier, probably not the best idea to order this at a dim sum shop anyway - Lobster dumplings - delicious! - Teriyaki chicken balls - interesting concept, but our least favorite dish - Shumai - so fun to order this at dim sum!
