Excellent experience for a mid-week lunch. I had the grouper sandwich on French roll which was a perfect sauted piece of fish and a decent size sandwich with a small side of potato salad for $15. Not a bad price or average in this economy. The server was extremely polite, friendly and ensured my dining partner and I were taken care of. I will definitely be back to try more things. Just sorry I didn't get a photo as I ate too quickly. One piece of advice - it would be nice if the restaurant had an updated website with a menu or frequency updated social media presence. Food was fantastic! We started with fresh oysters and crab cakes, both were delicious. The oysters were very fresh, briny and just perfect with lots of horseradish and cocktail sauce. The crab cake was very flavorful, full of large pieces of crabmeat. The honey mustard sauce had just the right amount of bite to balance the richness of the crab cake. Empty, do not like leaving negative review in these times however the man who took my money didn't care about me as he tried to distract me from exorbitant price sub par tasteless scallops. The prices on the chalkboard are confusing and should be marked in the case. I was shocked 8 scallops 48$. What's worse is tasteless had ammonia smell- preservative . Last time take advantage of me. I have likely eaten here a dozen different Saturdays and have never been disappointed. It's never too crowded despite having just 12 - 15 tables and a thoroughly unpretentious atmosphere. I do find this rather surprising as I believe its fish is as good, if not better, than anything else in the area. I have seen a few reviews below criticising the 'limited' menu however know that is the starting point. This is a market AND a restaurant. Consequently, the staff are willing to prepare anything they have available for sale. Should you see something interesting on their chalkboard, just ask for it. Example #1, no oysters indicated on last night's menu but our group started with a dozen and half and they were fabulous. No grouper listed on the menu either but I requested the grouper as my entree and it was terrific. Additionally, I have seen reviews criticising their pricing. This is extremely fresh seafood being prepared for you in landlocked St. Charles, IL, quite far from any ocean. Getting it here without freezing it comes at a cost. If too pricy for you, Arthur Treacher's might be a better choice. It is worth noting the restaurant being of the BYOB variety not only ensures you have the proper wine pairing with whatever you do order but certainly helps keep the final bill down. Also, I have found the staff to be quite friendly and they are willing to work with us on most requests if they can accommodate them. This is a rather minor point but my wife is gluten-free and they will always warm up her frozen GF bread. Many restaurants won't consider this cause it's 'outside' food. Finally the chef does a wonderful job with preparation considering the small kitchen. If you have never tried E+S, I really believe you should. Expect an entree to run you somewhere between $35 and $45 and that will include either a generous salad or cup of their soup. IMHO, it is more than worth it. read more

That place is a scam I ordered the halibut from the case for lunch, but what I got was a small tail piece of what I think was Tilapia (but they claim it's Halibut, it was the size of Tilapia, a tailpiece soft mushy, nothing like Halibut, the halibut I always get at other places) When I pointed it out they said if you want a "dinner" piece of Halibut it's an up charge I said why did you show me the one in the case and I was not informed prior about "lunch" and "dinner" pieces. I am not a big fan of wasting meats and seconds you never know how they go about it. So no thank you. They argued and the manager stormed off and said fine a refund then. No wonder nobody was at that place other than us, where other places are filled with guest on a Friday afternoon, that should have been a red flag we learned our lesson. read more

The fish was cooked perfectly and the flavors were amazing. Interesting choice to have a baked potato and it had melted butter and sour cream. Might just be a sign of the times but took a few minutes to have someone show us to the table. The entire somewhat simple lunch menu here looks great, I wish we could try it all. Three of us ordered the sautéed grouper sandwich, the shrimp roll and the shrimp quesadillas. This seafood was all fantastic. Wow! Just Wow! We stopped in for lunch on a Friday. We arrived about 1:15 and there were only 2 tables open. I had the grilled sea bass with a mango salsa. It came with rice and toast. The fish was so tender and juicy, perfectly cooked! Just amazing! My mother had the shrimp fettuccine. She thought it was really good, as well. It also come with toast. I enjoyed a crab cake made with real crab. meat. i ordered the appetizer version of the crab cake. it is the same size of crsb cake minus the french bread. i also enjoyed the seafood soup. Sandi ordered a pasta with shrimp dish. She pronounced the dish to be almost as good as fresh seafood from California. Picked up takeout for lunch for my husband and I and we were pretty disappointed. The lady at the register was not friendly and did not act with any sort of urgency when I walked up to the counter. My husband ordered the crab cake on French roll. It came on a normal bun. I also asked for no tomato, and it came with tomato. I ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer and a side house salad. I was very excited about the coconut shrimp, but was extremely underwhelmed when I opened the to-go container. There were only 6 shrimp, and I paid $13 or $14 for them. NOT worth the price. I really enjoy coming here. The food is Top-Notch which isn't something I'd expect being so far inland. As a Miami native I know and love seafood and this place is as good if not better than most of the ones I grew up with. For me it's all about their seafood chowder and sandwiches!! I've had both the grouper and crab-cake sandwiches and they've been delicious!! My only complaint about this place is the service is a little spotty as they sometimes forget your order and have to ask you again plus they aren't very fast do plan to take your time when you go. Decided to check out this spot for lunch today. A word of caution: Be very careful when coming to this place using Google Maps. It will take to the back the building with no way to access the restaurant. You have to go around the block to the front in order to get to the main entrance. Now on to the review... I decided to go with the Shrimp Bisque and Grouper Sandwich. I place my order and waited for my food. The food came out super quick, like less than 5 mins for lunch. The food runner actually startled me because I wasn't expecting anyone to bring my food out so quickly. He places my grouper sandwich with potato salad and runs off. Umm OK, I wanted my soup before my meal but whatever. The waitress never came back to check to see how I was doing or anything. -1 star. The sandwich and potato salad was phenomenal. The grouper was cooked excellent and seasoned perfectly. I had my choice of mayo and I went with the spicy mayo. Overall I was happy about my meal and I'll def be back to check out other lunch items and possibly dinner. When my bill came they charged me for the soup that was never brought to me and they had to fix this before I paid.
