Critical: Professionalism, Quality I have been coming here for years. I always request the nail technician Elma, but this time, was very dissappointed by the service. Has recently not been doing my pedicures correctly (getting annoyed for requesting simple fixes) and today topped it off by being very rude to me. I had called ahead of time to to make an appointment with her to get both mani and pedi done. I got there and was told, and I quote, that she "is not obligated to do both services for me, that by taking me she losses great customers." Gave this place a second chance and made an appointment and went in for a gel manicure. Meanwhile as I was sitting there someone came in complaining about the handicap parking so one of the nail technicians was tending to that and answering her cell phone quite frequently. I was okay with this, the first time. Then it became two times, then three, then four and I noticed there was not even an "excuse me," or a "sorry," or anything. She was also screaming and speaking loudly to her co workers who were sitting right next to her the entire time. All was fine, whatever. But then, I go to pay. A typical gel manicure here is $35 plus tip. Well, I go to pay and all I heard was $45 that she charged me and I handed her a $50 bill. Along with that I handed her two singles as a tip to a horrendous manicure experience. She then closed the cash register and I showed her that the board said $35 for a gel manicure and she then goes "oh you wanted change?". So she overcharged me and that included a $10 tip for herself that she gave herself without my consent. She also kept the $2 I gave her so that was a $12 dollar tip. I asked for my change back and she then was confused and questioned me in front of the whole salon why I gave her only $2. I explained I had a horrible gel manicure experience (that chipped in 2 days might I add) and all she did was smirk and wave the $2 in the air. I have gone here for several years? Mainly because they give great pedicures. However, my most recent experience has officially made me and my family stop going for good. I called ahead of time to ask how much a gel pedicure is. The woman on the phone said it was $40 which I thought was a great price. I decided to stop by and get a pedicure. When I arrived, I said "I would like to get a gel pedicure" and was taken right away. Everything was great until I paid. I told the woman to add a $10 tip expecting the total to be $50. When I looked at the receipt it said $70 was charged. Of course I immediately questioned it because I had just called before arriving and the woman told me $40. The woman at the front then said it was actually $55....which they still would have over charged me if that were true. Then I explained what I was told and the woman had a really disrespectful tone and started to raise her voice and claimed that I had asked for an estimate which was NOT the case. Then continued by saying that gel polish was $40 but with the water and massage it was more even tho that's not what was communicated to me initially. When I was trying to make sense of this, the woman was extremely rude and condescending and stared at me in rage and as if I was stupid. I will never come to this salon again. I come here because it is one of the "nicer" salons in Livingston. However, I recently started doing gel manicures instead of regular manicures, and noticed that they do not soak off your polish and rather just drill it off and make your nails brittle. I noticed the difference in practices when I went with my friend to her salon in Montclair. They do this out of pure laziness and only care about getting your nails finished in whatever way possible so that they can get the next person in the chair and keep making money. I also am unsure about the sanitizing process here - it is not clear to me if they change or clean tools between clients. I will say that most of the staff here is friendly which was one of the reasons that I kept returning apart from the convenient location. read more

In-town salon that I used to frequent often because of convenience. Service is always hit or miss. Typical manicure lasts 4 days. This time it started chipping the next day. Perhaps when manicurist was adding acetone to nail polish in crazy proportion should have given me a clue that it would be a total waste of my time and money. Stopped by 2 days later to change polish when Julie and another "expert" after close inspection said that it's normal, it's regular nail polish, sometimes it lasts 2 days, sometimes 5. Judging from the dates on the reviews, it looks like the service has been steadily declining, and unfortunately, my review just continues that downward spiral. After I moved here about a month ago, I went here in search of my new "nail spot," since driving an hour to my old place wasn't in the cards, and honestly, it wasn't a good experience at all. Like someone else said, the work was pretty sloppy, and as soon as I stepped out into the sunlight, I had really obvious bubbling happening on not only my fingers, but my toes, too. However, I know that with nail salons sometimes it depends on who you get, and I gave the place another shot recently. I got someone different than the last time, and it was deja vu (stained skin from attempts to remove sloppy polishing and again, bubbles), but this time I was rushed out, which just added to my dislike of this place. I spotted the CVS across the street and figured they'd have polish remover pads that I could use as a temporary fix. Well, when I got out of the car and walked up to the CVS, I saw another nail salon right next door. I figured it must have been a sign from the nail gods (lol), so I made sure to jot the name down. I went there later in the week to see if they could fix my jacked up mani/pedi that I got from E-nails, and it was a much improved, awesome experience! I was so happy that I tried out their eyebrow waxing as well, and everything was really great. There, literally across the street, $25 gets you both a mani AND a pedi, while E-nails charges the same price for just a pedicure! As soon as I saw that, I really wished I had just crossed the street to begin with. :/ Oh well - you live and you learn, right? Really clean environment and they do a fabulous pedicure with hot rocks. Isabella is my favorite girl to go to. Neighborhood nail salon. The owners are not personable-- sometimes ignore you or talk to you like they are at a deli taking orders. People doing the pedicure and manicure are nice but often don't understand what you are saying. Reasonably priced and convenient. I don't typically make an appointment. Most people are walk ins unless you are having something complex done and you want a specific person. It's ok and the price and convenience are why I go. If I found a nicer friendly place at about the same price I could easily be swayed to go there. Parking is better on Sunday vs Saturday because you are competing for spots with the hair salon(s). read more

I've had gels on for a long time and no matter where you go they soak them off. It's pretty much a routined part of a gel manicure. Today, the the already attituded technician starts blading my nails with an acrylic blade. It hurt so bad but I kept my mouth shut. The steps of the manicure were fine and nothing stellar. When I went to pay, she said $35. I said I thought that it was $30 and she goes no the prices are raised to $35 now. I said "where is it on the board" and she goes "right here" She pointed to the "Leg wax" that said $35. I did not see gel manicure anywhere on their board. Some nerve. I unwillingly paid for the $35 manicure and felt inclined to leave her a $3 tip for the nice looking manicure I received but her attitude was far below acceptable. I am not happy. I am going to Enails since last 3 years. Service was always great, very relaxing pedicure, good massage. Last night I went there for my manicure and pedicure as always but this time I went around 6:15 pm and salon closes at 7:30 pm but still I had enough time to complete everything. One girl started my pedicure immediately and the other one sat next to me started manicure. The service was really bad, in fact they were doing the services as if they are saying why the hell you are here around this time?? They didn't say a word and tried to wrap up everything as soon as possible. The foot massage was done in a hurry, I go there mostly for pedicure as the foot massage is so relaxing. My daughter comes home from Philadelphia to get her nails done by Julie and my nails are done by Grace. Pedicures are always relaxing and done very well I have been in retail for over 40 years and know how difficult the public can be. Don't believe everything negative comment you read. Only bummer that I was very surprised at the cost - $130 for a full set. Lovely atmosphere, great service. There are a million nail salons in town, but this is my favorite. They're not effusive in greeting you when you come in, but they're always polite. I've never had to wait long for service either. The pedicure chairs are awesome, and the massage feature always works. The technicians all seem skilled. I've gone to this nail salon over the past 4 years and the service has become absolutely awful. It's so upsetting as I thought I found a nail salon that I could rely on. The people that work at this salon are so rude, especially some of the lead nail techs that handle the gel manicures. They treat you like they're doing you some sort of favor. I got a pedicure here and they didn't do that great of a job. I pointed out an area I wanted fixed and they actually told me it was my fault because my nails were not in good shape. I pushed them to fix it and once they agreed it turned out fine, hence it was NOT my nail. Got a mani/pedi yesterday and it's already chipping! The service is ok. They try to add a foot massage but it's done half heartedly and lasts for a minute. The manicurist doesn't even massage at all. They take out a hot stone and I'm thinking this will be a nice touch but then they quickly rub it once down your leg - what a waste! The only nice touch is the hot oil they place on your heels for calluses. If they just put effort into what they already do - the foot massage, the hot stone it would be a great improvement in service and quality. read more

Just moved to the area and I'll still be on the hunt for a nail salon after my experience here. After not having time for weeks, it's very irritating to get a bad manicure. Manicurist barely pushed back cuticles and just glided the cuticle cutter over my nails so she didn't even clean up my cuticles. The manicure ended up looking amateur. I wouldn't pay$30 for a job I could have done myself. When I was ready to leave, they don't even offer oil and plastic wrap to protect the pedicure. Not impressed with the hot stone. I had an appointment to get a gel manicure, and I arrived at the time my appointment was. They told me to sit down and someone would be with me shortly. I am sitting there for about 15 minutes waiting for someone. The women who did my nails finally comes and was annoyed that I did not pick my color. (I was not told to pick a color or given the basket with the colors to choose from) I told her what color I wanted. I choose a solid color and on my ring ringer I wanted a different color. She made a face and asked "really? you want that?" I had to tell her 3 times that is what I wanted. She then proceeds to take my gel off my nails and kept hitting my skin and hurting me. She then does my cuticles and keeps hitting one spot. It hurt so much I was jumping in my chair and she kept going. When it was time to polish my nails she would throw my hand when she was done with it and told me to put it in the UV light. Then when she would want the other hand she would yell to give her my hand. While she was doing my nails she would answer the phone and get up and cater to other customers. so my manicure that was suppose to take about 30 minutes, took an hour. When it came time to pay, I gave her a tip that was not good enough for her. She made a HUGE scene and demanded I give her more money. I was so embarrassed. This place is such a rip off. They judge you as soon as you walk in, their prices are ridiculous, and they do not fully clean their tools. I highly suggest going somewhere different. Not even a week later the manicure chipped and cracked. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE ITS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. read more
