made the tiny mistake of thinking I was going to walk this park, wasn't such a bad idea, except I…read morehad to walk another 2 hours just to find an exit point back to reality. fall would be the best time to come and visit this park, with all of the forestry that is here, you could come one day, and come back a week later to a different set of colors. aside from the miscommunication with how to exit this park, it was definitely worth coming to check out and explore. a couple of awesome things about this park I didn't know about, Ontario science centre backs onto the property, a disc golf course exists, and there is random art all around the park. lots to see and do at this park, and definitely all year around as well. parking is available at the top and bottom of the park, not sure if it is paid for parking. lots of transit options around the whole park, almost too many to list off at this point. bring a bike and bring a camera and spend a day here.

Baskets and tee pads are pretty well marked so there's only a couple of spots that are harder to navigate in regards to finding the next hole. Although there are admittedly a couple of holes that are pretty ridiculously laid out for play (hole 18 comes to mind with a ridiculously long and narrow tunnel and then a 90 degree right turn to the basket), but that's all part of the challenge I suppose. Probably among my top 5 or 6 Ontario disc golf courses, but minus 1 star as it's pricey to play comparatively to other courses. Entering Christie Lakes Conservation Area has a $15 fee for the driver of the car, and $5 additional for every person in the car.

Trouble is, where I live is way too busy and even thinking about doing something relaxing seems out of the question. Hence I was so surprised when this park, just a short drive away, came up. Centennial Park is wonderful. A quiet, but not too quiet, little escape. Free parking is a bonus, with a beautiful conservatory as you enter full of lush greenery and plants galore, you'll be sure to spend a couple of lazy afternoons here. You can take a nice stroll around, sit by the river, play disc golf or even have a barbecue with friends or family. Definitely one I will be visiting again. Washrooms are also in the conservatory and are very clean!

There's sand, there's grass and there's a few pavilions nearby that serve food. When the time is right the beach can look crowded but is never too crowded with the length of this place. I love coming here to play some beach volleyball. If you're ever short people you can always find some people wanting to jump in for a game. We've found some pretty awesome, friendly and somewhat decent players sitting along the beach looking for a game to jump into. Everyone's pretty respectful when they jump into a game trying to determine what they shouldn't do. I've never gone swimming in the water but then again I wouldn't really going swimming in either of the lakes in the Niagara region. If you're looking to play some soccer or football you can spread out around the beach and you're guaranteed space. There are a lot of families around so be on some decent behavior. Now to some of the bad in the area. I've never had to park here but it looks like it could be a nightmare. If you don't absolutely have to park here I sure park here, otherwise you might want to park elsewhere as trying to get in and out of here can be a pain. I was dropped off on numerous occasions on a busy summer and it looked like rush hour traffic trying to get out. Depending on the breeze the area stinks but I guess that's what happens when you're close to the sewage plant. I haven't tried any of the restaurants nearby but you should definitely stock up on supplies and sunscreen if you plan an afternoon here. I'll be back for another game of pickup soon! We entered through the front doors facing the parking lot which was misleading because it looked like a poorly kept McDonald's. We made our way towards the Pub itself and were seated right away outside on the patio. They were undergoing some construction (as the rest of Toronto City) and had to sit through some noise and dust. The owner/manager apologized for it though. What he SHOULD have apologized for was the waiter's SLOW SLOW SLOW service!!! it was around 2 p.m. when we arrived and there were some people there just lounging around and hanging out. We didn't expect lightening fast service since we too were hanging out, but it became unreasonable when we had to wait about 15 minutes for our beverages (including water) and then had to wait another 45 minutes for our food to arrive! Our waiter paid more attention to his buddy patrons than us and took him extra long to finally get our check to us. The food was pretty good. the nachos are presented on a flat baking sheet (which is a little off putting to the eye, but completely functional for toppings). The pizza was good and our friend who had the halibut sandwich also said that was good. The location is great and the patio is the perfect atmosphere on a lazy weekend. I just wish the service was better.

Although, that could be because of the more open nature of the course, meaning most of the litter blows into other areas. Signage is good and the course seems maintained. This past spring was very wet, with record (or near record) rainfall which left parts of holes 1-4 under water. Drainage does seem to be an issue in areas due to the lower nature of the land up here. Would be nice if they could improve that somehow.

The disc course is so well maintained and laid out that it requires no thought or hassle. They even have tournaments held here. The only negative thing about it is you might have to wait at baskets because the course is so crowded! Actually, another negative thing, but it's not directly related to the course itself. Disc golfers, do be wary of the park staff. They're pretty negative and nasty to disc golfers. Don't do anything to antagonize them, regardless of how innocent an action might seem. Like climbing a tree to get your disc that got stuck in the branches. I watched a group get kicked out of the park for that. I get it--it's a safety thing. No sense in risking breaking your neck for a $15 disc. But the group didn't need to get kicked out for it. My husband and I have also been harassed at the pay booth to get into the park. It was totally uncalled for, and the guy was doing it because he knew we were there for disc golf. For such a nice disc golf park with so much money sunk into it, the Beaver Island crew can be pretty big dicks to the disc masses who bring in a nice chunk of money. But for those days when you don't run into a single park staff member, it's a total blast!

Quiet and secluded trails leading to picturesque hidden ponds. Wide enough for two skiing side by side in some spots. Meandering trails keep you out of the wind that can be bitter cold out in the open areas (like where frisbee golf is). Many birds flying through the trees, robins, blue jays and hawks too. Plenty of parking and nicely plowed. Fun!

Ward's for me is much more enjoyable as it's less crowded and still has all the amenities.

Beautiful islands, easily reachable by ferry from downtown Toronto…read more I love coming here by the earliest ferry when the weather is nice, and leaving before the crowds hit around 10-11am. Early morning, it's quiet and peaceful and all the birds are out singing. The beaches are also empty at that time, giving you plenty of breathing room to just sit and admire the beautiful waves and water. You could dip your toes too, but Lake Ontario is not that warm, heh. The sand dunes have eroded in recent months due to high water levels, but conservation efforts are taking place. And I know cormorants get a lot of hate, but they are magnificent birds. Watching them fish, and take off from the water is quite a sight. Please don't let this gem be ruined by the province's plan for a bigger airport. Protect our nature, appreciate it while we can, and leave it for future generations...
