I went in there recently to look for new frames for my glasses. The member of staff helping me was very friendly and knowledgeable about the different frames and lenses that I would need. On the down side though, the range of frames is very limited, especially when you compare them to somewhere like Specsavers. They're also a lot more expensive, and I left without being tempted.

Whilst they're not the cheapest, being an independent optician's, it tends to be 'average' priced, and it really is worth paying the bit extra for the advantage of going to a more community-based company.

They have a good range of designer frames as well as the less expensive generic options. They also carry a selection of contact lens brands, and are able to offer everything from Toric through to daily disposables. Service is friendly and efficient, and the staff are very knowledgeable. I called in recently needing the screws in the frames of my glasses tightening, which they did for me without charge, even though I'm not an existing customer of theirs.

As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a lovely smiling receptionist who made me feel really welcomed.. The initial form fillling etc was very smooth and I was asked to take a seat- I was even offered tea/drink! never had that before in an opticians! Didnt need to wait long before being called in by the optician who was also very nice. Best of all they had all the lastest technology (none of those horrible specs u have to wear to do the eye test) it was all using automated stuff. I was very impressed! the receptionist told me that I had a half hour slot which was great as I wasnt rushed and it was free!! I didnt need glasses in the end but I would reccommend that u try these guys, they were by far the best opticians I ever been too and i'll be going back.

Lovely staff and amazing service!…read more I recently called in at Tudball Opticians. The staff put me at ease from my first step in the door. The welcoming receptionist greeted me with a smile and showed me to a seat. It was only minutes before the owner and her lovely canine assistant saw me and I was booked in for an appointment at the end of that week. I browsed all their frames and the owner made a few suggestions; what to try and what looked good. The eye test was very thorough; it turns out I needed a little help with close up work. Thankfully the rest of my vision was still 20/20. I picked a frame from the wide selection and was pleasantly surprised by the cost; very reasonable. The glasses were ready for collection three days later; very fast! I returned to collect the glasses and have them fitted (I didn't know that was a thing!) and received the same warm welcome from staff and canine assistant! A thoroughly pleasant experience! I have an incredibly expensive eye wear habit and Barry Eye Centre stocks my favourite pleasure of them all, Ray Bans. Yummy. There are lots of real designer frames here, gorgeous ones but be warned, they do come with a hefty price tag. Though, if you live in Barry and you've got a few quid to spend, I'd seriously recommend looking here for some posh specs.

The staff are friendly and professional. There are plenty of interesting toys to keep young patients occupied whilst in the waiting room for their appointment. They have are a good range of glasses, cases etc. The decor (especially downstairs) is slightly dated, however I find that the optometrists are so good that this is really a non issue. Finally there is a nearby car park so no problems on the parking front.
