When I was in university in Ottawa I had some studying related back/neck problems and tried to find a good chiro there. Trying chiropractors looking for a good solid adjustment was very hard. Not only this, a person generally wants a doc with a good bed-side manner too, no? After numerous attempts, lets say I had to settle on a not-so-bad chiro out east until I got back home. Anyhow - a couple of years ago (going on 4??) Dr. Carson Smith took over the biz from Ladell Sr. In doing so, he updated and expanded the office space, took on better clinical staff and expanded the services they now provide. Pretty damn cool to see. Despite all these changes, the level of service and treatment has remained constant, if not improved. Dr. Carson is vibrant, full of helpful information and up to speed on the latest studies in the industry. With a bubbly 'table-side' manner and all the services to help his clients holistically at his fingertips, this guy basically rocks it. However, based on a recent injury and suggestion by a physio that I see a chiro, here I am. I wouldn't have had a clue where to start looking for one that I'd trust. Thankfully, a friend who has received effective treatment by one of the clinic's practitioners, Dr. Scot Ladell, recommended that I try him out. I actually sent a few friends to him based on my other friend's recommendation and they both had rave reviews, further encouraging me to see him. So far, two thumbs up for Dr. Ladell. He plays sports like I do and shares the same mindset, which is "Hurry up and fix me so I can get back at it." As Sylvie C. said, there's no pussy-footing around. I've had two adjustments so far and while I realize my issue will take time to resolve, I was already performing better the day after the first treatment than I had when I injured myself the week before. Adjustment two made even more of a difference. My appointments have not started on time, but if Dr. Ladell is treating his other patients the way I'm being treated, then he is completely forgiven. My experience is that he takes his time to ensure all of my questions are answered and that I'm comfortable with what's going on. I do not feel rushed and despite the fact that I was a total drama queen during my first appointment, he made me feel okay about it. Front reception staff are very personable and I like that music is playing throughout the entire clinic, including Dr. Ladell's treatment room. After having my vehicle crashed into two times (not my fault) in the past 10 years I suffer from the long lasting affects of whiplash/stiff upper back/neck. Dr. Judy has been my Chiropractor for the past couple of years. She also offers Chiropractic Rehabilitative treatment to animals. It fascinates me and always makes me chuckle while I am sitting waiting for my appointment and a dog gets called in before me. I had chronic shoulder and neck pain for five years due to a boating accident and had resigned myself to living with this pain. Years of physiotherapy, massage, anti-inflammatories and Intramuscular Stimulization would bring minimal, short-lived relief. Doctor's advice was always the same - cortisone injections would relieve the pain for up to six months but was in no way a "cure". After researching the side effects of the injections I vowed to never go that route. I resigned myself to living with the pain which interfered tremendously with my everday life. It was to the point I had to tape my shoulder to run and golfing would inevitably mean I would be in agony for days after. I tried everything with very minimal temporary relief. I had been told repeatedly I had a small tear in a tendon and scar tissue was building up which is why I needed the cortisone injections. Dr. John immediately assessed the issue was a rib that was causing this intense pain and put me on a path to a healthy pain-free shoulder. All of my other muscles were compensating for this rib being misaligned from the initial assessment and treatment it has been nothing short of a miraculous healing process. After just 4 visits with Dr. John I immediately felt immense relief from the pain. I once again can golf pain free, run with no tape and don't have to shy away from any kind of activity involving my shoulder. My quality of life has vastly improved and I have Revelation Health to thank for that!
