We were lucky enough to see this place on our way to Birdsview Brewing company and circled back to it afterwards. The wines that I chose to taste were great! The winery building is so nice! We had visited Eagle Haven Winery years ago, and were disinclined to return. However, we heard there were new owners, so we thought we'd give it another chance. First off, the wines were much better than before. Maybe because some of the legacy wines have had 7 years to mature, and the others are also pretty decent. This isn't Napa, but definitely a great place to check out in NW Washington. In addition to the wines, they have a substantial apple orchard, and are making some interesting Apple Ciders. They also have a great outdoor venue with lots of diverse musical acts in the summer season. Oh, and occasional comedy acts in their inside space. Or room for weddings and other group events. But maybe the best part is the staff - real, friendly and welcoming. Mark, the "owner" (there are other partners) is very gregarious, and if you and he have the time, he has 1001 stories to tell. The only thing lacking is a better food offering, but they are in the process of getting a commercial kitchen, so stay tuned! read more

We had such a wonderful time at Eagle Haven, it's as beautiful as the owners!! It's a work in progress with new events, new plantings and new ventures happening. From pumpkins to sunflowers to ciders, Eagle Haven is truly a destination to return to over and over again!! The owners and staff are some of the friendliest folks we've encountered on our travels! We had a flight tasting of the available 5 wines and they were good and unique. We each have our own likes when it comes to wine and I liked all but the blueberry which hubby loved!! We purchased a bottle of the Tempranillo which was lovely! We stayed overnight through Harvest Host and couldn't have asked for a more peaceful evening and gorgeous sunset! We were invited to wander at will and explore the area and boy did we! It's stunning and the sunset was definitely icing on the cake! read more

Their live, outdoor music has poor acoustics. Dancing was in a cement slab, which is understandable except for the fact that they are generally charging an outrageous cover of $30! Keep in mind that (in summer) most of the bands are free in the surrounding communities. Toilets were out of order and only Honey Buckets were available. Their rose wine was served warm. Ugh. There are so many outdoor venues to see local bands. I do not recommend you going here to see any bands! read more

Eagle Haven is one of those wineries that just gets it right. First, the location is idyllic. Located just east of Sedro-Woolley, between the Skagit River and the mountains, it's hard to imagine a better setting on a warm summer evening - especially if they're having one of their popular concerts (bring a lawn chair). Their wine club is also the best I've ever joined. There's only a 3-bottle quarterly commitment and you get free tastings plus great discounts on wine and concerts. But the best perk is getting invited to their wine club dinners! Oh and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how good their actual wine is. My favorite is the Madeline Angevine with it's sweety freshness. Their fruit wines are divine, too (pear is my favorite, followed by apple). I heard they are coming out with a yummy raspberry wine later this summer. Can't wait to try it. If you're on the Skagit wine trail, definitely stop here. read more

Allow me the opportunity to testify of the amazing wines of Eagle Haven. The overall uniqueness of each one is a dance on the nose and pallet. There is no doubt to the dedication, and pride put into each and every bottle by a master of his/her craft. Strawberry is just one of our all time favorites. The location is also indicative of the peace and tranquility that surrounds a quality wine. That being said it saddens me that the customer service, and attention to detail is so lacking within the tasting room. Wine should truly be presented by the artist wine maker(s). Answers to real questions from each experience - what they were going for, what hints should be searched, when the next batch will be bottled. We became members of this winery for its wine - certainly not the inexperienced pourers. We were in yesterday during a large event with two ladies in the tasting room. One could not keep up with the pours, and conversations. The other was in charge of the transactions and just completely rude, and uncouth. Bickering between the two of which glasses could were allowed outside, and when the next batch of Peach was due for bottling. At one lull point our register took over our pours after a red, and we asked for a rinse to try the Peach after a lecture of how limited the Peach was. She rinsed our glasses with the bottle of Peach (discarding the rinse) before the pour. I was shocked at the audacity - I never discard wine at a tasting. Then we received another lecture of how rinsing with water changes the flavor of the wine, which I'm sure it may. But for heaven's sake don't throw out the good wine! Give us new glasses. I give Eagle Haven the very best of my 5 Stars. And the wine deserves all the respect of those 5 Stars. read more

Pass the bull pen and vineyard rows to arrive at the quaint red colored tasting room (labeled as such). Open the double doors and the oak finishings announce your true purpose of visiting this farm: get your tasting on! We had a 4 year old and a 5 month baby. NO PROBLEM! Cozy up to the bar and start with 4 whites. It only takes 3 words to describe the flavors distinctly. Then taste the blends where they marry the senses. I was impressed by the White Talon blend and left with a bottle. The crown jewel is the cab. It's $50, but would be $100+ in a restaurant. It can tango with red meat, a nice cigar, or a joint. It doesn't have the buttery complection I look for in my high end cabs, but definely is a bottle I would feel comfortable serving in my restaurant. Our server Tina was amazing and we felt comfortable giving her a hug goodbye as we left. We'll definitely add this stop to our list of places to take out of town visitors. Kudos. read more

Very hospitable environment at this decidedly Northwest winery. Loved the raspberry wine. It was a tart, refreshing welcome to summer. We also tried their dry apple wine; which I could have easily confused for a white varietal. Either way, just slice me off a hunk of the stinkiest cheese you got barkeep and pour me another glass of that dry apple wine because life is too short to be limited to grapes alone. read more

I'm surprised by the great reviews of this place, though they seem to be more about the blackberry wine, which I sadly didn't taste.This review is about their serve and wine. Seven girlfriends and I were lucky enough to leave our husbands and children at our local-ish camp site at Rasar State Park for some wine tasting. This was the closest winery no one in the group had been to, and I know I can safely say no one will return to! Granted we are from Woodinville - the home of all the best Washington wine tasting rooms. First the samples (which they served to us in plastic cups) were about 1/2 a normal human sip; I believe I can usually get 3-4 real sips out of a normal sample pour. We were all trying to share our 3 tastings for $2 with each other to try and find ONE wine ANY of us liked; EPIC FAIL! We, between all eight of us, did try the 3 reds, 4 (maybe it was 5) whites, and 2 fruit wines they were offering. WE WANTED to purchase a bottle to support local business and bring home for our potluck dinner at the camp site, but we just couldn't! NO ONE out of our group of eight women like their wines! On top of skimpy pours, plastic cup service, and not-to-our-taste samples - which we lost $16 on - they were annoyed we arrived and did hurry us out of their OPEN tasting room. If they're not open then they should CLOSE! If you're looking to support local business we did happen to find two other local wineries, and we did make a purchase at each. A rare gem of a winery. Was absolutely delighted by every wine we tried there. The tasting room is nice with an outside location as well. We very much enjoyed ourselves here and had a lovely chat with the lady pouring for us that day. Sedro Woolley isn't a place we go often but will have to now make it over there every time we pass through as I have fallen in love with this charming place with beautifully made wine! We visited during the Family Farms tour this fall and had a great time. Our 6 yo left his fleece (treasures in pockets!) and they were kind enough to mail it to us -- and even included some new treasures! Really enjoyed the apple wine we bought, plan to buy more next time we visit. Also the outdoor venue is really nice, would be great for events. read more

Plus their service is amazing and so friendly! Had lots of unique taste and absolutely loooovved their reds! It's in such a cute area with apple trees all around and a nice picnic space. Very friendly, country feel, (they switched from mainly apple growing a few years ago) and a few good whites and fruit wines grown locally and some Syrah with imported grapes make for a fun time on the way up I-5 to Canada. Highly recommended as a stop on the way to support a growing business and get some cheap wine before you hit the border! Tip: only 1.5l of wine allowed per person crossing the border. That's two bottles each. Should get you through the weekend unless you're a true lush or Gassy Jack of Vancouver fame. The white was just decent, the Syrah I quite liked! read more

Well, The Hubby and I got it into our heads that we wanted to make applesauce. We'd done the same last year with great results, but weren't happy with the prices of local apples at the farmer's market (which was about $3 per pound). So we did some research and found some U-pick farms up north where we could get as many apples as our little hearts desired for only $1 per pound. On our way, we happened to see a sign for the "Festival of Family Farms" at a turn-off on the highway -- Eagle Haven Winery and Perkins Apple Farm. Well, let's stop and see what they have, we said. Good thing we did! They had apples (and pears) for sale -- prepicked -- for only 80 cents per pound, and even gave you free samples of all of their 15+ varieties. Plus fresh-pressed cider and honey from the bees that pollinate their trees. After sampling ourselves silly, we walked away with 2 giant boxes (40 pounds each) of Jonagolds for applesauce. And since we couldn't stop there, we selected another 20 pounds just to keep in the fridge for snacking. And a container of honey. And a gallon of cider. All for $97. We would have been stupid not to go sample some wine, so we also left with a bottle of blackberry wine and two of apple. (I don't want to talk about how one fell out of the car in the parking lot and smashed to a million pieces. I may or may not have lapped up the spill.) So, for less work and less money than picking ourselves, we got a ton of produce and supported the local apple growers. I have not personally visited the venue, but used Yelp to find a great winery to help me with my best friends gift. I wanted something special since it's my bf's 30th bday. I'm in FL and found nowhere on their website to order a gift card. I called and spoke with Tina who took my info and made the transaction easy. I had also emailed previously and she responded to my email answering all my questions. She even sent me a pic of what the gift card would look like. It took about a week to reach my friend who lives 20 minutes away from the winery, but my friend advised me that the mail runs really slow. read more

I just want to respond to Summer O's review of 8/25/2013. I have brought a rather large group of ladies (15-20) to Eagle Haven on several occasions, and MANY in the group have liked at least one - if not many - of their wines. Perhaps people from Woodinville don't appreciate the "different" grapes and fruits that Eagle Haven uses (many that are grown on the west side of the mountains). All I can say is that the one time I brought a group of ladies down to Woodinville, we were not exactly welcomed (except by ONE winery that was VERY accommodating). One would have thought that a place known for having so many wineries would be able to handle a large group (with a couple of months' notice, of course)... and yet, most of them are NOT. Meanwhile, Eagle Haven provides an inviting and aesthetically-pleasing space, and has a lovely variety of wines to taste. read more

This review is more about their business than their wine but it is the same place and owners: Eagle Haven/Perkins Variety Apples. Their web site says they are open for u-pick during the week. You go there and the sign in front of the apple barn says that they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. We were there on a Wednesday at 11:00. The apple barn and the winery are right next to each other. I could see through the open bay door that they were sitting in the wine shop. When one of the customers with them mentioned to Jim that he had customers over by the apples Jim just shouted out that they were closed. I mentioned that the sign said they were open and Jim just shouted out again that they were not open today. Then I mentioned that their web site also said that they would be open and he shouted out that it was old and needed to be updated. We had driven half an hour to get there and were prepared to buy a lot of apples. They will NEVER get our business again. They are part of the Festival of Family Farms in Skagit County in October.
