Top marks for a menu that takes vegetarians seriously and gives us plenty of tasty options and glowing praise too for the steaks that were cooked to perfection and for the excellent the cod & chips in Dougs special batter. OK the ladies loos had seen very much better days, but I'll gloss over the details since everything else was terrific. It doesn't rely on gimmicks or cheap, microwaved food prices but you can get decent ale, good local Pembrokeshire food (like mackerel that other chain pubs in the area can't sell) all done with a sense of pride. Some nights it's packed to the rafters and you have to wait for a seat but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sky sports fans are catered for but there is a non sports and tv area for those who wish. Not stuck out in the wilds nor too close to town it's worth checking out. Updated. Overall though, I like this place. It has the charm of a traditional pub, a few real ales are usually available and often sourced from nearby (or somewhere in Wales at least). It had a pool table last time I was there although this has come & gone over the years. Most importantly, over the summer you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view - uninterrupted views over the headlands with the sound of the sea in the background, makes this a very pleasant place to enjoy a pint. Most of the trade comes from holidaymakers rather than from the local village, so it does tend to be seasonal and opening times can be erratic out of the holiday months. It has a restaurant area attached to the bar, so you can come here from a proper meal and take your chances on the quality of the food that year. Overall, I feel like I'm maybe being a bit generous giving the place four stars, given it's lack of consistency, but when it's on form it is a great little place to visit and well worth stopping by if you're in the area. It's location just off the coastal path also makes it a great place to end a relaxing coastal stroll or strenuous headland hike (some of the paths are steep!!)

The only downside is that it's rather pricey. £3.30 a pint for a local, non tourist pub is steep no matter how you look at it. Would recommend if pricing was a little more competitive. Updated. Just had food there with the other half and it was quite simply.. amazing. To find somewhere that could serve up dishes that tasted as good as they look made my night. You get a feeling of real effort being put into the food and service. Oh and it serves magic lager. Never had a flat beer which says A LOT for pembrokeshire!

It has a decent size bar with a pool table (which has been about the only addition in the past 20 years) and dart board. The lounge is also quite spacious yet retaining a cosy feel. It's one of those pubs that you see the same faces in year in year out. It has plenty of parking at the rear. Beer is reasonably cheap and any meals I have had there have been nice However the plenty of space out back should be better utlised for outside dining and drinking. There's just a little more flavour at the Farmer's than you get down the road at the Bishops…read more Both are good pubs serving the good people of St David's and their annual pilgrims who come to worship cliffs, coastal paths and small waves which carry them back to shore on their body boards. But the Farmer's has a bit more edge to it. The sort of place that takes a bit more guts to enter. As you open the door, do things go just a little bit quiet? It feels like that as the locals check you out and then carry on with their stories. The ceilings are low and beamed and there are nooks and crannies all over the place making this pub feel like a little smugglers' den. If you can find a place in the teeny weeny mini bar round the side it's a really lovely snug to sit and slowly get drunk. As is the seat built into the wall in the main bar. Take pictures of the locals and they will frown and mutter. Get served before them and there might be an audible tut. But if you can get over that, this is the place to hunker down and let the sea air and the ale do their thing. Warm them up and you can't stop them talking. By eight the place is usually very lively indeed, all tables for food taken and all snuggly places bagged. But you'll be happy enough standing there in the main bar drinking in the ale and the atmosphere. Service is quick and friendly. The menu has all the classics, but unlike the Bishop's they do some snazzy specials usually consisting of locally caught fish. It's not cheap but it's very good. A kitchen clearly enjoying doing great things with whatever comes in on the boats. You are welcome to eat outside in the garden which is more functional than beautiful but has the bonus of an extra bar so you don't have to pick your way through the thronging evening masses and their damp dogs. One of my favourite pubs in Wales…read more I came here first in 1994, then almost every summer. I came again in 2002, then in 2005 for the last time - until last Saturday when I was in the area, walking parts of the Pembrokeshire coastal path again. The food is very good, not Harlech or Castell Howells Frozen Food which I do not want to eat when I go out. Here it is home-made. - I also enjoyed sipping the cider outside. They had a bar on the patio / beer garden. No restrictions here. You are made to feel really welcome here!
