History
Established in 1994.
Eagle Leather started operation in 1994 as a small specialty store located on Hoddle Street.
A trailblazer for its time, the original Eagle Leather owner Brian Mier created a store that became a haven for gay men, with a curated range of leather, latex, extreme toys and BDSM gear from around the world which until that time were fairly unavailable in the Australian market.
Brian was passionate about education which led him to set about developing a BDSM and sex positive educational program during the 90’s in order to ensure that not only adults kept their sex lives exciting but also safe.
Throughout the years, Eagle Leather would grow significantly from its humble beginnings, moving into a much larger premises down the road at 58 Hoddle Street where it would stay until Brian sold the business in 2010 to two long-time employees (BJ and Shane) and then moved to it's current location at 80 Hoddle Street, Abbotsford.
Meet the Business Owner: BJ and Pepper M.
BJ has been involved in the adult industry for the past 27 years, with the last 20 years dedicated to Eagle Leather. In 2010, BJ became co-owner of Eagle Leather with fellow adult industry veteran Shane. As the company director, he oversees business strategies and community partnerships. A BDSM educator and former performer, he’s earned titles such as Australia’s Best Sex Educator and created Melbourne’s iconic fetish events FANTASTIC: THE PARTY and THE ABYSS.
Pepper joined Eagle Leather in 2010 and became co-owner in 2016. She is known for her high-level organisational skills and exceptional customer service. These skills culminated in her being a finalist in the Australian Young Retailer of the Year awards. With precision, creativity, and passion for fetish fashion, she’s driven marketing, events, and education while co-organising FANTASTIC: The Party and The Abyss. As half of SADO POP, she’s performed nationwide and taught at major kink festivals around Australia.
