My kids have been in 5 previous daycare centers ( we have moved a bit) and West Woods KinderCare has been mine and my children's favorite. The center is managed very well and there has been very little turn over since we have been. This is a big indicator of the success of a center. There is nothing harder than leaving your kid with a new teacher after they have grown attached to the previous teacher. I have recommended West Woods KinderCare to many people and will continue to do so. Thank you for taking such great care of my daughters. They are happy to go to school each day and sad to be picked up and leave school.

The staff have always been helpful and the facility has always been well run. My son gets great attention for his needs, never complains about attending, and has made some amazing friends since his arrival! We had 2 previous daycare programs before Wooden Shoe, one private and one "chain". Both were okay, but here my son is getting an amazing experience that he enjoys talking about at the end of each day. It will be sad when he finally leaves for Kindergarten but even then he can still attend their after school program and keep seeing those kids that he has built relationships with. He gets to practice swimming (indoor pool w/ swimming lessons INCLUDED), music, art, education basics, and be active in a safe place. As for some of the negatives I've seen in the reviews: They do fundraisers/book fairs about twice a year and there is NO pressure to perform. The fundraising efforts are minimal and completely able to be ignored if you choose to do so. As for "prayer" they give thanks before eating lunch; they're not receiving communion, theyre not attending service, theyre not getting pressured by nuns to remember the sabbath. We're not a "churchy" family either, but if saying thanks for 5 seconds every day means my son has a safe place where my he can play and learn while his parents work 40 hours a week, Ill take it. Hell, Ill even give some thanks myself.

Pam really helped us understand the UPK program. The school has separate rooms for multiple age groups. Ours was in Bloomers. Ms. Ciara, Ms. Karina, and all of the other teachers really help the Pre-K group get ready for kindergarten. They have centers, movement, circle time (reading), show-and-tell, and outside time pretty much every day. They have very clean classrooms. Each of the students receives enough but not too much attention in order to encourage socialization, problem solving, and independence. The one area that some may find lacking is the playground. CLP doesn't have a huge, elaborate play structure like some preschools. While this may deter some, I think it has some benefits because a) your kids are not really going to remember the playground so much as their friends and b) they'll be much more creative in how they play with their friends. Finally, the check-in and message system they use is great. Check-in Is easily completed by scanning a QR code and you can assign others for pickup. The teachers post class and/or individual updates almost every day so that you can see a little bit of what they're learning and doing. They're also very responsive to messages that parents send through the app.

We are going to be adding a second child to this daycare in the Fall. When we got pregnant with our second we thought about getting an au pair because it would be about the same price as ACL but we just feel like he is as smart as he is because of the interaction and the curriculum at this daycare. If you are interested in ACL you need to get on the waitlist early. It's very competitive because so many people want to send their kids here. If you work for the VA you priority so keep this in mind. Patricia in the baby room is outstanding as are Teri and Kamala in the 2 year old room. We were grateful to find space at Primrose when it first opened and the first few months were great but we quickly realized that this school had a staffing problem when teachers began to leave. I am going to start with my more recent experience with Primrose as I do think they are starting to get things under control. My daughter is very social and agreeable and shined at Primrose. She regularly was praised via "Happygrams" and made some of her best friends here. In the past year, she has pretty much kept the same teachers and has done well in Pre-K. We had a rocky start with lots of change over in teachers, front desk staff, and directors in the beginning but I feel like Primrose is starting to hit their stride. It seems like the directors are on top of things and Ms Anakay and Ms Raelynn deserve a special shout out for their work at the school as we wouldn't have stayed without them. My son's experience was the polar opposite. My son went through 3 teachers in the first 8 months the school was opened. When an inexperienced teacher became the lead teacher, my then 5 year old son was disciplined unfairly by being separated from the group, told to eat lunch facing the back of the room away from his peers, and I was given notices to sign in front of him every day. All of the kids pegged him as a bad kid and wouldn't play with him, after being his friend prior. We are still dealing with self worth from this time period. I brought up bringing in a therapist to watch the class to management, I brought up what was being done in the classroom only to find that they were not keeping good records on his behavior, etc. When I talked to the director (who has since been let go) she talked me out of seeking help from Brain Balance. Luckily we quickly pulled him from the school and got him into therapy. The support we feel from his current school is amazing by contrast. Ultimately I think this school is great if you have a kid that is by the book. My daughter was very happy there and felt safe. I think she got a good education as well. However, if you have a child that has behavioral challenges I would look elsewhere. The damage done to my child has taken years to reverse from and could have been rectified with better communication, policy, and teachers. They are just not well equipped to handle this kind of student, and at least in my experience there was no way for us to move forward without pulling him immediately even though that meant us having to take unexpected leave from work to accommodate. I would like to see the owners really look at how to retain their good people. When schools like this are started for more of a financial incentive than an education based incentive, I could tell the difference with the way the staff turned over. Our last school had 1 teacher leave in 3 years. We watched many of our favorite teachers at this school move on over the years and it would be a shame to lose those who keep the spirit of Primrose going.

My daughter been going to this site since she was 2 &1/2. She graduates this year. They have staff there who aren't properly trained and or have no experience. They have been on probation for their childcare license since November of 2018. My daughter almost died in their care. Yesterday on April 8th 2019, I arrive to get my daughter during nap time , and I see white stuff by her mouth. I assumed it was food. As I'm pulling, it's getting stuck and I sit her up immediately only to pull a wad of tissue out her mouth. (Will post a pic) when I arrived both Jillian and Dalena were on their cell phones. (This is a licensing violation) I asked why there was tissue paper in her mouth while she was sleeping. Not either of them could answer my question as to how it got into her mouth and why it was there or how they didn't catch it was in there. Maybe they didn't catch it because their faces were stuck to their phones. I showed Jillian the tissue she kept saying "I'll get rid of that, hand it to me" I refused to hand it to her. She was eager to get it and dispose of it. Furious to not getting answers I grabbed my daughter and left. When I got home I immediately called the manager Heidi, she was unavailable so I left a message regarding my concerns. She did not call me back. I spoke to some girl named Mary, she contacted me back. Told me she'd contact Jillian and get back to me, which she did. But she was no help, very unprofessional and ignorant to the whole situation. She did not care that my daughter could've choked and died. She told me in her exact words "Jillian didn't know how it got there and was on her phone doing some work related things" I asked "how can we prevent something like this happening from the future to ensure my daughters safety?" She said "we're going to continue doing what we're doing, we not doing anything wrong" I was so appalled and humiliated for her. She obviously doesn't have training. I said "excuse me?" She said "this is just where we're at right now" "if you don't feel like your daughter is safe why send her here" I was in so much shock and disbelief that she said that. I responded "you think this is just going to be swept under the rug like it's no big deal? My daughter could've choked and died in her sleep" she said "it's just where we're at right now" I responded "if I have to take my daughter out for a safety concern that could easily be fixed I'm gonna go above and beyond to make sure you're facility gets closed down" "I will NOT allow you guys to treat me like I'm wrong for wanting a plan in place when it come to my daughter safety" I have requested a meeting with Heidi in person, let's see if she gets back to me. I would NEVER want any parent to go through what I went through and be treated the way I have!! I will NOT STOP UNTIL I GET ANSWERS AND CLOSURE. They need to be held accountable for their staffs action. Oh and the sad part, the director was in the class and still couldn't provide answers. They need to retrain their staff or throw them all away and start over. No innocent child should be in a position where they are not cared for, watched properly or safe. Will keep you guys updated once I meet with Heidi and let you know if I get this situation handled properly. I refuse to pull my daughter out. She deserves to be part of graduation like anyone else!! The teachers in our child's class, Liz and Shania, care so deeply about the kids, and they regularly try new things to encourage their development. Kelly and Jessica, who run the facility, are kind and thoughtful and have always responded exceptionally well to feedback - and they respect our privacy as weird parents who don't want pictures of our kid on any social platforms. They also send us occasional photos and videos, which really helps us feel connected, especially in COVID times where we can't enter the building other than just the entryway. We're so grateful our child is someplace where we can trust everyone and where we know the kids are cared for so well. Thank you all!

He is passionate, caring, and doesn't put up with nonsense :-) He is also very flexible with parents' times and understand when you run late to pick up your kiddo, or have last minute reschedule needs. When he opened his own pre/after school care, it was no brainer for us to sign up both boys with Small Characters. The school has been very successful and extremely popular.
