When the owner or store keeper just sits there talking on the phone and ignores someone who may want to buy a lens, bag, or book it is time to go someplace else. I am not going to interrupt his conversation to ask a question about merchandise if he is more concerned with the person on the other end of that conversation than selling a lens or even saying "If you have any questions just ask" so a customer knows it is ok to break up a conversation to ask about an item. Now I won't buy an overpriced Polaroid bag but I have been known to buy a nice lens on the spot. read more

I stopped in to get some 35mm film and wow, what a gorgeous little shop! With options too, plenty of different common film stocks in the fridge and a selection of gear I only glanced at so as to not distress my wallet. I got some lovely Portra & Ultramax film for a trip and it was a joy to reconnect with my old 35mm camera. I'll definitely be back in this upcoming year as I get back into photography. Love that there's a local shop with great selection, nice folks & well priced film just in my neighborhood! read more

Really inspiring space for film cameras, film, accessories and photo books created by Jason Lee and Raymond Molinar. A friend mentioned that a new camera store had popped up, and it just so happened that he was there on the first day of business. So we popped over en route to a ceramics sale (that's pretty NELA, right?) and checked it out on day two. I was blown away by the wonderful selection of vintage cameras, from Graflex 4x5 to Nikon 35mm to Mamiya and Fuji medium format. They have a fantastic selection of very intentionally curated photgraphy books, too. Artists I hadn't heard of, inspiring photography, and all artfully presented. I didn't check out the film supplies but I will on my next visit, which will be soon. Jason was there and after introducing himself, he told us about how the store came about. I could truly sense his passion for photography and his honest vision to create a space where people can connect on life experiences and the photographic arts. To that end, there is a beautiful Donald Judd-style plywood table with a few photo books atop it. Clearly, the store is designed to inspire human dialogue and connection. Just being in the store for 15 minutes inspired me to keep pushing on my photography practice...it's easy to get a little lost and I feel like spaces like Eagle Rock Camera & Goods will catalyze and inspire people to keep exploring their creativity and craft. All in all, Eagle Rock Camera & Goods feels like a positive, inclusive, and very inspiring addition to a community constantly in flux. Bravo, Jason and Raymond! Was in the Eagle Rock neighborhood on my way to the Eagle Rock Deli to get me some delicious rainbow cookies....(yeah, you know the one)....and noticed a store that I hadn't noticed before. This store front had a very modern yet clean look to it; and on the very top of the white patina sterile wall right above the classic wood glass pane door in a very modern and classic font, it said simply: PHOTO. On both sides of this classic wood glass pane door were 2 exactly matching classic wood glass pane windows. Naturally, your eyes wander towards them and of course you got to look inside the ever so clear and clean windows.....what a curious collection of, organized and well curated classic camera trinkets one has ever seen. There were vintage Polaroid cameras displayed as well as a rack full of vintage road maps from all over the world in colorful adornment waiting to be opened to take you to your next adventure! Curiosity took the better of me and I had to see more so I trickled in through the door and was greeted by a wall to wall floor made completely out of cork. It was mesmerizing and relaxing at the same time!. A very large beachwood table decorated with just the right amount of photo coffee books carefully placed and displayed broke your concentration Talk about irony....having a picture perfect shot of a picture perfect camera shop in Eagle Rock! I mean the whole place looked like it came out of a movie set designed by Wes Anderson. Everything was organized in a very particular natural way. Colors just blended and the books were stacked in perfect manner! You felt like you were transported into another time period where style and a positive vibe was the prerequisite! Ok, I can keep going about this but at this point, you should just look at my posted pictures or just come check this place out for yourself! You won't be disappointed! Just be warned, even if you're not into camera gear, you'll still be leaving this place with some swag! I sure did! I scored me some key chains, patches, t-shirt, matchbooks and a tote! I was so geeked knowing a camera store was coming to Eagle Rock It's not a Samy's type place but if you are a film photography nerd and you like photography books, then drag your meat suit in here. It's a beautiful, calm spot where you come and nerd hard with like minded folks. Some people say film photography isn't cheap. It can be pricey but this place had an expired film basket. And a film fridge. And a selection of cameras. read more

A film photography lovers dream. The place offers a wide variety of film camera options from nikon to canon to leica, as well as polaroid, medium format, and large format. Their displays might as well be a miniature shrine/museum to photography. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming to photographers veteran and starter, willing to answer any questions asked. Their film stock is always full and they even offer expired film! Film books, camera straps, and several other tools are for sale as well. One of Eagle Rocks best spots. Highly recommend! read more

When the shops instagram page came up on my feed, i was immediately intrigued by the esthetic and the selection of cameras on display. I decided to check it out, and since my first visit this shop has now become my Sunday routine. Initially i came to browse and was delighted by the photo book collection, especially the inviting work table centered in the middle of the shop where i could dive into these great books. On my last visit on July 28th i was greeted with excellent customer service and very knowledgeable staff. I don't think I've ever felt this welcomed at a camera shop before, it was really nice to chat and nerd out about cameras. Film stock, and photo books. This is my go to spot for film and to checkout photo publications. Solid selection, fair prices, and knowledgeable staff. Stopped by last Sunday and the gentleman running the shop helped my find the right strap forOlympus. Just chatting and told him I had a had my down camera from my grandfather and wished to one day get it repaired. Came by this shop for the first time this past Sunday and had a great experience. I wish I had gotten his name but the person working was so helpful and friendly. They had a good selection in store and it seems that they are always sourcing more. The prices are also fair given what you see online for most of these cameras. Visited this place on Sunday July 28, 2024 around 12:30pm. I met a female friend for coffee down the street and we decided to check out this skater-owned camera store. I guess we looked suspicious because the middle-aged man working approached us and told us he had to close the store and have us step out so he could use the bathroom. I've never had this happen before. I've been in stores where the person working never even greets me much less kicks me out to use the bathroom. I understand they stock expensive cameras but a camera store without security cameras or security measures? And he could have probably used the bathroom without us even noticing. He reopened the door to let us back in and his customer service wasn't much better. We had strange interactions where he acted like he was above us and we were bothering him. It reminded me of the passive-aggressive customer service at Supreme in the 90s but this was coming from a graying middle-aged man, not teenagers. It seemed like we were inconveniencing him by just being there. Perhaps a customer service job is not the right fit for him? At a time when skateboarding has become more accepting of the LGBTQ+ community and women, this store seems to want to continue cultivating a culture of exclusivity and pretentiousness. Moreover, I was disappointed by the limited selection of photog books. I will not be spending my money here. I don't care how "cool" the owners supposedly are. I can go to Samy's and Arcana for excellent, unpretentious customer service and a much broader selection of cameras and books. We walked next door to Oddbird and had quite a different experience. Cassia DeMayo gave us excellent customer service making us Turkish coffee and engaging us in great conversation. read more
