I would never recommend Stem Steps to another parent…read more What started as me calmly asking why an adult screamed at my son turned into one of the most upsetting and unprofessional experiences I have ever dealt with as a parent. When I first questioned why my son was yelled at, instead of showing concern or trying to explain the situation respectfully, the owner immediately responded with, "If you're going to falsely accuse me, his last day can be June 5." As a parent, that response alone was shocking. I was not attacking anyone -- I was asking why my child was screamed at. What made the situation even worse was that the explanations kept changing. After I questioned what happened, I was suddenly told my son had been continuously trying to open the gate and needed redirected all day. However, when I arrived and heard the screaming myself, it had nothing to do with a gate. My son was excited because he saw me arriving to pick him up and was yelling out excitedly. He was nowhere near the gate. When I challenged the story about the gate because it did not match what I personally witnessed, I was then told that it was actually another child who had been trying to open the gate. Yet despite admitting that part involved another child, the focus still continued to be shifted onto my son's behavior instead of addressing why an adult was screaming at a child in the first place. What is especially concerning is that I spoke with my son's support teacher, who told me he had a good day. I was never informed that he had severe behavior issues, needed constant redirection, or was causing ongoing problems. Those claims only started being emphasized after I questioned the way my son was spoken to. From my perspective, instead of accountability, honesty, or an apology, I felt like stories continued changing in order to justify inappropriate behavior toward my child. Even after inconsistencies became obvious, there was still no acknowledgment of how wrong the situation was handled. Instead, I felt blamed simply for asking questions and standing up for my son. Parents trust childcare providers to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for children. Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling dismissed, misled, and deeply uncomfortable with how concerns are handled by leadership at Stem Steps. Most importantly, my heart hurts for my son, because no child deserves to be screamed at for being excited to see their parent. This isn't the first time Gabby has screamed at a child in this way. Also, this isn't the first time a teacher has witnessed her screaming at a child , and has done absolutely nothing about it because she will fire them if they speak up. It goes against the contract they sign when hired, apparently.

I cannot say enough AMAZING things about this preschool & the teachers. We have been with Miss…read moreColleen & her girls (Miss Caylin & Miss Malinda) for two years and will continue to be with her for the next two years. They are such genuine, sweet, kind hearted people who bend over backwards to ensure these children get the best education and receive the love and nurturing they deserve. From the beginning their communication has always been TOP NOTCH! Not only do they communicate with you through calls, texts, but they even give the classes a Facebook page that not only helps you communicate with them but helps the parents build a community to share things, help each other out, etc. I know this year was a transition year as Colleen just purchased the preschool and I must say I heard a couple of parents who were with the school prior to Colleen make not so nice comments about her or the school and I just don't understand how. I don't know how the school was operated prior to this year but I personally can't see how it could have been any better. These teachers plan so many events for the kids such as parties (Halloween, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, etc.), 2 Field Trips, a Class Picnic, and so much more! They truly give their heart and soul to these kids and for what the preschool costs compared to others; they don't stand to make much of anything which tells you just how much they do this from the heart. If you are looking for a preschool for your toddlers, I can't even express how HIGHLY I recommend this school and the team of teachers to all parents out there. They are by far the best and I've already cried twice knowing that this school year is coming to an end, and I am halfway through my time with them.

They put their hearts and souls into all of their students and it really shows. They do so much for their student! From field trips to Freedom Farms in the fall and Living Treasures in the spring, to holiday parties throughout the year! A Christmas program that absolutely melts everyone's heart! I can't thank these three teachers enough for how much they have taught my kids and got them both ready to start kindergarten! This is the best preschool ever!
