The owner, Richard, is so nice, we've formed a friendship over our mutual love of gemstones and crystals, despite him being old enough to be my dad. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Kids can see geodes cracked in shop (after they buy them, of course!) and there's always a nice selection of natural specimens at all price points. This is my favorite rock shop! This is the only rock shop I know of! And now for a series of rock jokes -Gosh Garnet, I said Darnet wrong -You can take that one and throw it on the mantle... if you can get down that far -This next joke's a gem -Need to remember the metamorphic processes of shale? Use this acronym SSPSG (Silly Sally Prays So Good). Shale turns to Slate which turns to Phyllite then Shcist and finishes over at Gneiss. - Well ain't that Gneiss? If it was Schist before. So people say this rock shop is very expensive. I wouldn't know, I haven't been to another rock shop. I took a look online, and the prices seemed comparable. People who were there were nice. They were fairly informed about the rocks. They have tiny meteorites too. I'd go back to this place when strolling around #DFred I really really want a piece of Titanium Quartz... it's so cool! The store owner is a true gem master and knows the ins and out regarding the science behind each stone or crystal I had. He was so helpful and we found some lovely pieces and presents. Biggest selection of stones and crystals I've seen in the area. Side note - we are in the middle of a pandemic and I heard the store owner kindly reminder a patron to wear their face mask properly, which I as a guest appreciated. Lastly, prepare to spend a nice chunk of time exploring this shop. The family was waiting outside so I was in a bit of a time crunch but could have spent a good few hours exploring if I was alone. read more

Selection of tumbled stones and their prices were incomparable. Amazing. The one thing I wish they had was a listing underneath each stone of their common uses. They had a paper list of ailments and what stones could be used to heal them, but I'd prefer to search for stones that speak to me and see if they apply to me, instead of a listing of what I've got going on in my life and then searching for the corresponding stones. After a day of driving the wife around wineries in NOVA getting her suitably merry, we had dinner at the restuarant across the street. I absolutely love this place! Huge selection of geological specimens including gemstones, jewelry, fossils & metals. The shop is located in the historic area of Frederick, MD. Lots to see & a knowledgable owner. Hard to find specimens can be found here. There is even a section with funny novelty signs. The prices are decent too. I could be here all day, there is alot to see. Towards the back of the store there are stunning specimens for more serious collectors, but it's still kid friendly. I've never actually been to the store, but I discovered it at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. They have a beautiful selection of crystals and stones with information on what they're used for. The shop owner is very kind and willing to help. I actually placed an order over the phone since I live far from the store, and that was a very quick and easy process. This is the first review I have ever, ever taken the time to write. I've been to this shop about 14 times, and I average spend about $80-$150 per visit. Generally, I've enjoyed the wide selection and the very decent prices for larger stones. However, customer service is rigid and poor. On my last visit, I was carrying a tray of crystal selections I was considering to purchase. I'm a spiritual healer and am constantly looking to gauge the energy interaction of different stones. The store owner rushes up to my plate, puts both hands on it and I tell him that I am still looking. He keeps both hands on the plate rather aggressively and says, "If you're not going to purchase the stones then don't pick them up." Mind you, I've personally given this same man hundreds of my hard earned dollars through many continuous visits. I keep both of my hands on the tray regardless of his slight pulling to it, and say "Please let me make my decisions." This is not the first time we've experienced rigidness with this store owner, even after coming in his store time and time again - ALWAYS walking out buying something, with great respect to the material. We've always been quiet, and courteous to stones and the arrangement of his store. Customer Service is important in any business. He made a very LARGE scene after no prompt from myself, with the whole store stoping to stare because of his verbal hostility. A second woman approached him as well with the same hostility given once again. If you don't want to experience any unnecessarily negative moments in a place like this that should be happy exciting, it would be best just to venture elsewhere for your crystal and mineral needs. I ended up crying and felt super frustrated. That's not how I want to feel when buying from a crystal shop. When selling beautiful fractions of earth people should be beautiful about it - especially if you own the business. I had previously raved about this shop to a lot of people and now I don't really think it's a welcoming environment. A note to the store owner; please pay better mind, word and attitude towards your customers. You silenced everyone in the store today. read more

Next time though I would recommend taking a pad of paper, pen and your phone camera to write down everything you buy or want to purchase on your next trip! Yay! I've been looking for a good crystal shop in MD forever, and I am absolutely willing to drive to Frederick for this! So many different crystals of all price ranges - small tumble stones are around $3-5, larger stones or clusters $15, and then you can get really high end with some crystal goals that will set you back hundreds (there aren't that many of these pieces in the store though, so don't be intimidated). I had to stop myself from buying more than I already did - they even have bismuth, titanium quartz, and cactus amethyst. Oh and pendulums! I was so excited because I've wanted a pendulum for a year but was concerned about ordering one online and having it arrive broken. Cute jewelry is a bonus (why not have jewelry with energy?) - $3 hematite rings and $5 bracelets. The owner is also very nice and knows a lot about the stones in the shop. I complimented him on the flash of his labradorite (dull labradorite is yawn) and he told me they got them on their last trip to Arizona. Very cool. I also like that they have the origins of the different crystals. I shall be back - there was some raw amethyst and rose quartz with my name on it! :) read more

I LOVE this place! I used to order my crystals online which normally ended up with them being poorly packaged and damaged. I came across Earthly Elements and couldn't be happier. So many beautiful options AND they are great with kids. I once brought my 2 year old toddler with me and they were great with making him laugh. Most places like these would normally snarl at the sight of a child in their shop, but not these guys. They are very helpful when making selections and very knowledgable about their rocks. Been to Earthly elements a handful of times, as well as a handful of other crystal shops in Maryland,Virginia,West Virginia, and PA. One of the largest selections iv seen with some pretty rare cool stones/crystals but by far the most exspensive. Many shops iv seen in Northern Virginia have similar sized collections for at least half the price. You will defiantly pay for whatever you find there, and unfortunately a lot of the items can be found online at a fraction of the cost of this store. i understand it is IDEAL location, but The owls nest down the street even can save you some good money over earthly elements. After all, its just rocks we are talking about.... haha and i love rocks. Good store if you have money to throw around if not its worth taking a trip somewhere in WV, or VA, or Online. read more

This rock shop is no joke. It's got awesome rocks from super cheap and pretty to a small fossil room where a shark tooth costs $15k. The staff member was super knowledgeable and willing to answer everyone's questions. The shop looks small but carries so many neat things. I liked the small animals carved out of stone. read more

Having recently moved out to MD from CA, I was worried it would be impossible to find a good rock shop in the area since we have some pretty amazing ones out in CA. I went to a few that were nothing stunning when I happened to find this place. It's not as metaphysical as I'm used to; it seems to be more geared toward those who are into archeology and rocks and minerals rather than the healing aspects of crystals, which is fine. I liked that they keep their focus on the gems and minerals rather than candles, incense, tapestries, and other things you find at other stores. They have some amazingly unique pieces, the prices and VERY competitive with what I am used to and even better than ordering online since for me personally there's something about being able to hold a piece to feel and understand it that you just don't get when you order online....the owner is extremely friendly and helpful.
