A stunningly beautiful resort on the east coast of Mallorca. Immaculate well spread out grounds…read morewith a wide selection of high-end amenities (3 swimming pools, a private beach overlooking an inlet of the Mediterranean Sea, several tennis courts, and plenty of areas to just lounge and relax. The complex is massive...though you can walk between buildings (there are a dozen or so), it's much easier to travel by the resort's gold carts. Rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, mine had a large balcony overlooking the grounds. There is high-speed Internet in the room though I would have preferred it to be wireless (they do lend you a cable); there is free wifi in the lobby. My only other issue was that iron and ironing boards don't come standard, you have to request to borrow one. The resort is rated 5 stars but this is largely due to the endless amenities and features than to the quality (which is more 3 or 4 star worthy). Location is picturesque but quite far from Palma and the airport---expect a 1 hour + taxi ride and a 60 euro fare. Nearby Porto Petro village has a few restaurants and bars but is quite small. If you come to the Blau expect to spend most of your time at the resort which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I prefer to be served but the lines for food is so long and such an international clientele that it is probably the best way for them to go. We walked to town and it was not peak season so not crowded. The harbour town gives you some Spanish flavour but you need a car to explore the island --- or just stay and relax in the resort. It feels like a cruise ship experience. Many pools. One pool is warm Much walking. It is €89 to Palma or 1 1/2 hr bus ride. Things to see there. Only relax or walk at resort. There are yoga classes in a schedule. There are bikes or kayaks that are part of the fee to use. But no laundromats to be had. The resort charges a fortune to wash your clothes, so just hand wash and dry in the clothesline in the bath. The spa is part of your fee too and it is really nice. We did drive to Santanyi for market day on Weds. 8-1pm and it was a treat. But at the resort, just relax. If you want to be a tourist, stay in Palma or up North. Too bad the wifi is so sketchy. Seems no one here bothers with yelp so many things are not listed nor reviewed here. People want to keep it their little secret? It is mostly Germans here and their kids. I am sure the peak season is a madhouse. But we were a conference so it was ok for us. The yoga was done in 4 languages....pretty amazing teacher. There is an app you can download to get the most current events, the sheets at the reception are generally off a day or two. I walked out to the lighthouse and that is worth doing for the views. Breakfast buffet is included in your room-- although no one told us, and they will make eggs to order and everything you can imagine is there to eat. So you have to be bold and explore a bit. At least they have an adult pool when the kids screams drive you wild. The beds around the pool are dreamy.

The rooms are gigantic and extremely luxurious. I went here for a few days with some friends on a trip to Spain and had an amazing adventure. The grounds are beautiful with so much to see that you truly do not need to leave the property. We came here after a weekend of partying in Ibiza for some much needed R&R. The dining experiences are absolutely 5 stars. The thai food that we ate was incredible and their Spanish style tapas restaurant is amazing. The rooms have gigantic bathrooms and balconies for days. I'm giving it four stars, but only because of it's location. If you want to see more of Palma and get a cultural experience, I would not stay here as it is quite far away from the center of Mallorca. If you want some relaxation and more of a resort feel, I recommend staying here.

The hotel is 1/2 mile away from the beach, has a spa on-site and a small pool. The internet is free. It is a good hotel but at times the room service is lacking and not crazy about the bathroom which is a combined tub and shower which can be a bit messy. The view from the balconies is fantastic. Great place for a non-beach vacation with high-end expectations

In 1717 it became a military prison, used in both the Napoleonic and Spanish Civil Wars. Prisoner's' graffiti was etched into the stonework. The ground-floor City History Museum traces the development of the city from the prehistoric Talayotic civilisation to the present day. As well as Roman & Arabian ceramics there are classical statues & artifacts. Upstairs are a series of largely empty chambers, including the one-time kitchen.

It's a nice walk along Palma's marina with a few coffee shops and bars along the way and then begins the 100 meter ascent through a few streets and an "interesting" alley that made getting to the castle an earned event. The castle itself was built in the 14th century and was the original residence of the kings of Majorca. It was also a military prison for a long time. It survived two attempted sieges (one in 1343 and another in 1391), only falling once into enemy hands in 1521. It is quite the impressive structure and well worth the visit. From the heights of the castle, there are some great panoramic views of the port and the city of Palma. It is well worth making the effort to visit, whether you do it by food or by vehicle. There is a free parking lot.
