Best park in East Boston. Phenomenal views and lots to do. Many benches to sit, lots of paths to walk, places to sit on the grass, and even playgrounds for the kids. Plus you get to watch the planes fly by! I sat for an hour and watched boats sail along the ocean. Then my boyfriend and I walked around for a little while. He showed me this park as it was his favorite growing up, so I loved being able to come here with him. Free parking lot and street parking as well. Plus, close to public transportation. read more

What a beautiful park! I walk through everyday and always see people having photoshoots, birthday parties, baby showers, I've seen a few people get engaged here, and I've even witnessed one wedding happen here. Not sure what permitting (if any) is required for any of that but, that's how beautiful of a park this is! I've seen exercise classes here (yoga and such) but, there is also an exercise area. This park is how you access piers park sailing center. The park has a small parking lot as well. There's a children's playground area and a public restroom. There are no dogs or bicycles allowed. The park is always monitored by a police officer in the building outside the children's playground/ where the restrooms are located. I've seen some live bands perform here and they did fireworks for Labor Day! read more

There is a trail not far that I could walk through from my apartment to get to piers park. Never really crowded and always good vibes. This is one of the nicest parks in East Boston and has a beautiful view of downtown Boston and the harbor. Plenty of benches to sit and relax. It's a very well-maintained park and you hardly ever see any litter. I often go through part of the park while running. Given the playground next to the street, the park is a popular spot for families and young kids. One of my favorite times to go is early morning during the summer when it's peaceful and not too hot out. read more

Here's the problem with going to most waterfront parks in Boston: None of them actually offer a decent view of Boston. It's true. Think about it. The Esplanade affords a nice view of MIT, the waterfront gives you a glimpse at the airport, and looking from East Cambridge doesn't count, because, well, it's not in Boston. Piers Park, however, technically IS in Boston, and gives you not only a fantastic view of the downtown skyline, but also a beautiful running trail; big, wide-open green spaces for picnics or other assorted flopping, and sounds and smells of the water you really can't get anywhere else. Recommendation: Get to Maverick, get yourself a torta, plant yourself squarely in Piers Park and go to town while you stare at... well, town. read more

This is the best park in all of Boston. Best view, yes.. Best landscaping, yes..Best park to chill out on a sunny day..yes. I love going there. You're in your own little retreat as you look at all the skyscrapers and think of how people are cranking it at work on a beautiful day. I would say the park is pretty large, definitely not tiny. There is a long brick path that leads to a gazebo pier. Perfect for watching a sunset. Tons of picnic tables, a huge playground for kids with water features, a sunken band stand area for performances, a workout stretch area with picture boards, and tons of soft plush grass to spread out. The Boston police have an office on the grounds so there is no BS going on. You'll regularly see them walking around the grounds. They also have on site bathrooms connected to the police office. In the summer the ice cream truck is out there all day. The sailing school offers discounts to residents. Get your picnic basket ready! Just a note, no dogs or bikes allowed! read more

I moved to East Boston about a year ago, I've heard of this park but I didn't know it was such a beautiful hidden gem. Wow... Just Wow... My boyfriend and I were working out outside we were walking a trail and came upon the park. He said let's walk through here and I obliged. It was a BEAUTY. Clean and well maintained. There were couples and families just sitting on the pier and enjoying the beautiful summer night. The postcard worthy views are stunning. It's the perfect park for a little picnic. We actually saw a couple having a pizza dinner on one of the picnic benches. The grass is so well maintained you could bring a blanket and maybe fall asleep under the stars ;-). Wow, I can't believe no one has reviewed Piers Park yet! I love this place. The park is HUGE, gorgeous, extremely well maintained, and has amazing views of the Boston skyline. If you need a break from the hustle & bustle of city life, this is THE place to go. It's a great place for a picnic (though leave your portable BBQ at home) or to go sightseeing. Piers Park is awesome. Not only can you take really cool night photos of Boston, but you can see some of the fireworks from the 4th of July from here. We had our wedding rehearsal picnic here and didn't have to pay for anything because our group was small enough. The bathrooms were a little messy, but for a place that was open, free, came with its own tables, beautiful skyline views, AND parking? Worth it. read more

Piers Park is a hidden gem. No where else in the city is there a perfect balance between skyline, green and water and this makes this park the perfect urban park. The entrance is currently hidden behind houses and construction sites and only if you venture far enough on the street, you'll find the gates for the park. You'll know when you have arrived because you'll feel like you have been sucked into a much more beautiful parallel Boston. The park is BIG. Big enough that event if it is full of people and children, it will still seem quiet. It has a few play areas, a huge playground, a workout area, picnic tables and a dreamy water walk. All of this surrounded by the greenest landscape, no exaggeration. The cleaning crews are always going around providing trash bags and picking up full ones and there are restrooms for guests. I had a birthday brunch here once and everyone had a great time. Even some locals were not aware of the existence of this green haven. The only down fall, No dogs allowed with is a good and bad thing. Good because you wont be stepping on dog doodoo while picnicking, wrestling on the grass, of rescuing your toddler from the ground. Bad because good dog owners like myself don't allow for this to happen. However, not having my dogs here does not take away from the experience. Take the time to come by. The train/bus stop is with within walking distance and the park also has a parking lot. read more

Other than that, this place is marvelous -- one of the most beautifully manicured and maintained parks in Boston, if you ask me. And it warms my heart to see all the kiddies having fun in the playground or running through the fountain. There is no shortage of picnic benches and shady spots on the grass, and as others have noted, the view of downtown Boston is incredible. C'mon lazy Back Bay-ers and Cambridge-ans...get your butts on the blue line, get off at Maverick, stop at 303 Cafe, grab a chai tea latte, walk yourself to Piers Park, and enjoy the sun, breeze, and boats. FYI - no bikes allowed at the park. You can lock them up at the entry but don't even think about riding them down the pier. Believe me...I got chased by a Pier cop the entire way down. This park is definitely an oasis in the middle of the nowhere. If you ask people in Boston where is the most beautiful view of the city, they will probably send you to some island in the south. But not! the best view of the city is just right in Eastie. And probably is not a bad thing that this park isn't that known by everyone because every time I go there, is quiet enough to get maybe some rest laying on the grass, reading a book, or just chillaxing for a while. The park has plenty things to do, for everybody. Green areas - where a lot of weddings take place - outdoor gym, playground for kids with fountain for the hot summer days and severals rest areas with tables and chairs perfect for a nice picnic. It's very easy to get here. just 5 minutes walk from maverick station blue line, about 10 minutes from state station. So add this in your "things to do in boston" list and get nice postcards view facing the downtown. As any other outdoor park, Winter time is probably not the first option - Although if it's a beautiful sunny day then it is worthy and you can enjoy the view so well during the day as at night. the sailing center of east Boston is right inside this park too, you can get lessons during the summer and after getting a membership you are allow to take your own sailing boat and jump to the water with a bunch of friends. Summer is of course the best time to go, a lot of activities are going on weekends. free concerts, free sailing short trips and much more. I myself think is a good place to come with friends, however since I moved to this area I enjoy just going there and relax a little bit. It's a nice experience to face downtown from here while you don't hear any noise around. In fact, all you can hear is the sound of water against the walls and the wind on the trees, so not bad at all! Piers Park is a must go! enjoy it! PD: Dogs are not allowed (this is a property of massport company) and they dont seem to be a very dog friendly company. And dont bring ball games cause you cant play with balls in this park. they probably dont want a missing ball on the water. read more

This is a perfect place to picnic, read, gently stroll, or take in some of the most spectacular views of the city's skyline. It has lush greenery, benches, greenspace, and a sweet gazebo-like monument if you want to relax in the shade. The whole place is very clean for a public park, too. Psa no dogs allowed though. I love love love love love this place. I live in Brighton and at one point during the summer, I came here three times in one week! The grass is super green and soft, unlike the Boston Commons where it's sparse and infested with squirrels (yuck!). Plus, they don't allow pets in the park so you know you won't be laying in a pile of you-know-what. The view is amazing. There's a playground and splash fountain play thing that your kids (or you) can play in. Lots of tables and benches to sit at and on the weekends during the summer, there's a band that plays towards the evening. A ton of families go here and have picnics and it's just a great atmosphere. They don't allow a lot of things though, such as kites, bikes, skateboarding, and a bunch of other things. They have a list on their sign--I think it would've been easier for them to list the things that they do allow! This is hands down the best park I have found in Boston so far. It is kind of a hidden gem too, which makes it the perfect spot to lunch on a sunny afternoon without encountering a horde of tourists as is the case in Boston Common. When I came here with my boyfriend on a Thursday afternoon we found the walk from the blueline T stop easy and the park crowd to be the right mix of kids, families and those lounging with food or a book. The landscaping is also near perfect, with immaculately kept grounds and picnic tables galore. Mostly, I love that the park is centered around a renovated pier that juts out onto the Boston harbor. The view of the downtown Boston skyline is great; it is definitely worthy of bringing out of towners to see. Best of all, you can lounge around on the pier and watch planes take off from logan airport in the distance. I can't wait to enjoy a few more late summer picnics here! read more

I'll keep it simple: New, clean, well supervised (there were cops on bicycles riding around periodically), plenty of parking, good selection of things to do for the kids (water park, jungle gym, grass, shade), restrooms, some people but not too crowded, fantastic view of the city and water. I don't think I'd be able to write a particularly long review of Piers Park. Just take a look at the photos of downtown Boston and you'll get it. We (my roommate and I) were so astounded by how lovely this park was that we started looking at apartments in Jeffries Point. Though we did not end up moving there, I still come once and a while with friends to show off what, in my opinion, is the best vantage point to view the Boston skyline in the entire city. The park being in Eastie filters out a lot of the crowds. One of my favorite thing about this place is that it never feels touristy. I think because you need to take the blue line to Maverick (which i doubt is in NFT Boston) and then walk a bit, there's this neighborhood-y feeling to Piers Park. It's never crowded; there's a more laid back atmosphere. And on top of all that, it's beautifully maintained and you can watch sailors/ rent a boat from the Piers Park Sailing Center. ! read more
