I called the place on May 3rd, 2026 around 8:20pm, very well realizing that they close at 9pm. I was immediately put on hold and after 2 minutes of waiting I hung up. I called 2-3 times again, only to be put on endless hold. Turns out, there were no customers, I walked in 8:35ish to see the place empty. Just had burgers, fries and a drink. The food was reasonable but not amazing. Service was good but it's not a sit down restaurant. The ambience was equal to the nature of the restaurant. Probably the best burger spot in Ridgewood. To be honest, I knew NOTHING about East Coast Burger until I took a stroll around town after eating at another restaurant and taking notice of this retro looking burger spot on the corner of Oak and Franklin. From the outside and inside, it has local, neighborhood burger joint written all over it -the big sign outside, the local high school kids working inside and the large burger menu, which is actually not majorly overpriced! Anyhow, we visited on Father's Day this year and the restaurant was relatively quiet with the exception of a few other families, but there were plenty of open tables and seats. For those that care, the claim is that each burger patty is hand pressed and all natural American beef that is ground daily with no growth hormones. For those like me who just like a good burger no matter how it is made, the burgers really hit the spot. All of the burgers come plain, unless you ask for lettuce, tomato, pickles and raw onions. Any other toppings are an additional charge. I ended up with the Bacon Cheeseburger, while my wife ordered the Teriyaki Swiss Mushroom Burger and we got a regular East Coast Cheeseburger for our little one. And, you just CANNOT have burgers without some good ol' fries, so we threw in an order of cheese fries and onion rings to boot. Oh and we love our burgers and fries with a little shake action too, so we got 1 strawberry shake and 1 chocolate shake too. Summary. Everything was great! Burgers were very simple-looking, but were nicely cooked and juicy. Fries were hot and delicious. So were the onion rings. However, what really blew me away wasn't the food, but the milkshakes! Honestly, it's quite hard to find a good ice cream milkshake these days. Most spots just make it too sweet, but they made it jussssssst right. It had a good thickness to it, but not thick to the point you couldn't drink it. It really was a great tasting shake. I could have drank it ALL DAY LONG. Employees were relatively friendly and there is a small parking lot outside. Seating can be indoors or outdoors as well. Like I said, it's super local and definitely has that neighborhood joint feel to it. Allergy families this place is for you!! My youngest is allergic to eggs, tree nuts, sesame and coconut - so you can image for a picky toddler it's a pain in the ass when you want a quick but quality bite. Walked in on this place not knowing that it's allergy friendly as f***!! Excuse my excitement I was just thrilled to find this spot. There chicken tenders are EGG FREE!! And they have tons do gluten free options as well. When I told the woman taking my order about my sons allergies, she told me she was the daughter of the owner and that SHE was actually allergic to all the things my son was, so almost everything they served fit that accommodation - even the ICE CREAM!! Very family friendly, TVs with some sports and cartoons for the kids and everyone on the staff was extremely friendly. Food was DELISH! Quality, fresh, and satisfying. My son tried his first ice cream and it was the Maine Blueberry flavor and it was perfect, not too sweet, egg free and he LOVED IT! I was planning on writing a bad review about service but turns out I'm not the only one because the time to get our food went from 1 hour to 30 seconds. The burger is pretty small but it tastes good and the soda is awesome. The french fries are supreme and the shakes are creamy but 100% shout out their flavors. If you don't know how to speak food critic, that means the flavors tasted perfectly like the top shakes of those flavors you can imagine. The sweet potato fries didn't actually taste like sweet potato which was a little strange but it actually tasted BETTER than normal sweet potato fries which was awesome! Fun little casual burger joint in Ridgewood, a little off the Main Street. BYOB and there is a wine store around the corner, in case you wanted a beer or wine with your meal. It's counter service and food was good and priced well. Reminds me of the old school chain, Fuddruckers, on a much smaller scale. The food is just as good as going to a ShakeShack, and I would much prefer support a small business!! Plus, they have an option for a 1/2 pound patty if that still isnt enough. We've been going every week since we found the place. The patties are crispy but not overcooked, I love that the menu has some pretty interesting items (like a teriyaki burger? Have to try that one next!) and all of the people that work there are very kind and attentive! Was craving lobster for national lobster day and this place was the closest affordable option for lobster in my immediate area. Lobster roll has big chunks of tail and claw meat and minimal mayo, no other fillers on a potato roll. The bread and butter pickles were really good. Not as crazy about the half sours but thats my preference. The clam strip roll hit that clam craving, nice and crispy and comes with tartar sauce and your choice of side - we got the onion rings for a change of pace. Really liked the chipotle sauce with those. I think the battered cod sandwich was beer battered. The cod was a little thinner than I would expect but it was still pretty good for $7. Cheese curds - new menu item - they were ok, I've had better. Felt more like mozz sticks in ball form. To top it all off we got a pint of s'more ice cream which was awesome! So soft and ooey gooey with big chunks of chocolate shards and tons of marshmallow fluff swirled in. I'd go back for that ice cream for sure. They say it's Gifford's. I tried calling to pre-order on the phone (twice) but no one answered and it went to voicemail. Not sure why, but we ended up taking a drive and they were indeed open. I ate my meal in peace within the diner. The burger was cooked well, though sub par with its seasoning. It was paired with lettuce, tomato, and an accompanying non-toasted seedless bun. We always get the patty melt and the potato bun they switched to too is horrible and has no taste and oddly has a scratchy texture /mouth feel. I wanted something quick and small, so I went with the fries. They were OK - nothing special. I did like the TVs to watch some sports while you enjoy your meal. I did see one of the staff members (I'm guessing it was the manager) berate someone (a non-customer) for parking in their very small lot.
