I don't think this is my first review of East dumpling house but we went back for lunch today. Just fantastic every time. The pork and shrimp dumplings are like a warm hug. I tried that Dan Dan noodles this time which were delightfully spicy and starchy. I've got that kind of miserable because I'm so full feeling right now but in a good way. Staff is friendly and it's got this really cool interior that has tons of lights and decor that are fun to watch. There's a big karaoke place in the back and barbecue on one side of the restaurant. Since last time I was there they've even had a small to go tea place by the front door. Parking is a hassle because it's a paid to park lot, but there's a QR code by your table that will give you two hours free. read more

This was my second time here. The crispy sweet and sour pork (guobaorou) is always good. The texture is very chewy in a good way. The crystal shrimp dumplings were soo good and juicy. I would not recommend the beef and enoki soup. It's a yellowish soup and tasted sour? Maybe it's a spice that I'm not familiar with but both my friend and I didn't like it. The service was great and our waitress brought out a dish of house dumplings because we didn't like the beef and enoki soup. Atmosphere is interesting because it's connected to a karaoke bar. Our neighbors pick up dumplings from this restaurant on a regular basis and we're always lucky when they invite us over to share. Last night my husband and I decided to try eating in at East Dumpling House. We got there around 5:30PM on Saturday night and the parking lot was packed. There were a few spots, so we were lucky. They do validate parking, so don't be put out by the machine at the entry and exit. Parking was a different, but simple process. We were seated right away, though a huge line formed behind us. The menu is long and full of pictures which is helpful. They have a decent drink menu with lots of cocktails. We ordered fried cheese wontons, smashed cucumber, pork soup dumplings, beef and celery dumplings and Dan Dan noodles. Everything was delicious and good portions. We ended up bringing the Dan Dan noodles and cucumber home and ate it the next day. Our server was efficient and at no point during the evening did we feel rushed. Went here with the family last weekend and let me say the food was absolutely amazing. This is authentic as it gets lol. Even the menu was in two languages. I noticed that it was extremely clean in there, and there was plenty of space which I enjoyed. The menu was extremely fast and lots to choose from. But I was there specifically for the dumplings because I had just had my wisdom tooth pulled and needed something soft. I ended up getting the soup dumplings, which unfortunately I forgot to picture Lol but they were extremely delicious. Although I was expecting the dumplings to be inside of soup. There was soup and filling inside of the dumplings, which was still good. I got a chance to taste a little bit of what everybody ordered and I must say the food and flavors were fantastic. our service wasn't bad. Though, there was a language barrier. Definitely going back. I came here this past weekend for the congee buffet and their brunch menu items and it was decent. Not worth bringing a kid since they charge the same price for the kid as and adult for the brunch buffet. Kind of ridiculous charging a 4 year old the adult rate. But that's how they roll. The congee is really bland so you have to really add it up with the toppings on the side of the congee table. Congee is normally a breakfast hotel item that you get with your stay in ASIA - so atleast they are only charging $6.99 per person for the AYCE congee. We also got the chinese cumin burger, soy milk, fried donut stick and flaky pancakes all good for reasonable prices. Service was so so. The didn't understand english very well. Takeout tonight. Ordered from the website. Ordering was easy, but there was no hint about how long it would take before the food would be ready for pick up. I decided to go over in 15 minutes, and they were just finishing packing up my order. I ordered four things: Large Hot and Sour Soup - very nice portion ( more than a couple of bowls worth) of tasty broth with sprouts and tofu. Not the most complex flavor, but pleasant and a little (not overly) spicy. Heavy on the pepper side, but good. Large Wonton Soup - nice portion of tasty chicken broth with decent wontons. Crystal Shrimp Dumpling - these were very good. Eight dumplings (good texture) with a tasty shrimp paste inside. Accompanied by two sauces - a hot oil and a soy/vinegar based sauce (I think). Definitely a great dumpling and makes me want to try their other dumplings. (Yes, I know. That's in their name!) Kung Pao Chicken - huge portion, with chicken, green peppers, onions in a hot snd spicy sauce. Accompanied by a box of white rice. The green peppers and chicken are very tasty. There is a bit too much emphasis on chili oil in the dish, but a solid entree. We will be having leftovers tomorrow and I expect it will be delicious. I'll let you know if the food doesn't hold up. My favorite chinese place! Menu is expansive and portions are large, theres something for everyone. Food is GAS and comes out timely. House dumplings are juicy, and each one has a whole shrimp inside which gives it a good bite. The eggplants are delicious, the pork belly peppers are spicy and the pepper taste is strong and pairs with the other dishes- more peppers than pork though. Loved the quabaru, but the crispy beef was way too sweet and didn't have much dimension in flavor. The fried pork ribs were good, like chicken wings and the crumbs they sprinkled were lightly spicy and so yummy. Ordered some takeout of the Dan Dan noodles, scallion pancake, house dumplings, and cucumber salad. All were SO GOOD!!!!! The noodles were nice and thick and slurpable and chewy and out of this world with this super addictive sauce! The Dan Dan noodles were a huge portion that I divided into 3 meals (enough for lunch the next day for my gf and I!) Scallion pancake had a good flavor and I put it in my air fryer for extra crisp. The house dumplings had an excellent chewy and thick shell with a juicy and savory meaty center!! They also come in a heaping amount enough to share ! It makes wanna try their other dumplings next time for sure . The cucumber salad was crunchy and marinated in this delicious chili soy sauce . After a yelp event, we decided we wanted dumplings and yum! This place was a little confusing to find because it's merge with another similar restaurant but service was quick and our food came out pretty fresh. I got the beef fried rice and pork dumplings. The fried rice had peas, which I wasn't a fan of. Parking, although validated, was a hassle. Update December 2024. Still accepts cash and credit card. Parking can be tricky as it can be full. There are also street parking outside the shopping center. We decided to come here on a weekday to see how the business will be like. Not too crazy. We order various dumplings and dishes. They also serve lobster here. Each lobster is $40 and you can tell the chef how you want it prepared. There are tons of dishes to choose from. Some staff members are helpful to answer your questions. I've been to East Dumpling multiple times and tried a variety of dishes and they do not disappoint. The portions are big definitely meant to share, and every dish is authentic and heavily flavored even something as simple as the tomato egg stir fry. Our favorites were the creamy spicy dan dan noodles with a thick sesame sauce, the egg and pepper stir fry with fried eggs some sort of fragrant black bean and crunchy green peppers, the hot chilli tofu which was QUITE spicy but the tofu was very well fried, and my dad really enjoyed the chicken skewers with prominent cumin flavor. The dumplings also need a special mention. I liked the egg and zucchini (?) ones. Very gentle nicely flavored filling, the skin was tender soft and chewy and they definitely gave plenty. read more

Solid place for Chinese takeout for lunch. They have lunch specials. You must try their dumplings. The pork and chive dumplings were delicious. The soy sauce and crisp chili oil complement the dumplings well. I've also had the house dumplings in the past which were good too. My House Special dumplings were good after dipping them into soy sauce and vinegar. I also ordered Combo Lo Mein and a small Wonton soup. My husband thought both were average and said he's had better. My friend got Chicken and Mushroom dumpling, Spicy Boiled Fish, and Mapo Tofu and enjoyed them all. I tried them and liked them all as well. I would have liked them more if they weren't spicy. We each ordered tea. I enjoyed my taro tea. I noticed that our bubble tea hadn't arrived after receiving our food so asked about it. Our server said the kitchen was making it. After several minutes, I noticed that other patrons who came in much later had already received their tea so asked again as I thought she must have forgotten. She informed me that the delay was due to the boba. The other patrons ordered their tea without it. It would have been helpful if she told me this. The vibes are so vibrant when you immediately walk in. There are so many decorations and lights and it's perfect for fun night with friends and/or family. There is ample seating, depending on the type of food you want, either the kbbq or off the regular East Dumpling menu. The restaurant was getting very busy as the night went on so it would be a good idea to get a reservation. The food was DELICIOUS and the dumplings were some of the best I've had in terms of the way it was cooked and the flavors. The prices are fair as well, and if you're getting dumplings, go for at least 1 dish of pan-fried because it's worth the extra cost. The noodle soups were also delicious and tasted so fresh. Definitely coming here again sometime for the dumplings, but I must try the kbbq next time and maybe give the karaoke rooms a shot too! read more

The house dumplings were delicious and juicy, elevated even more with their special soy sauce and chili oil. However, their cucumber salad could have definitely used more seasoning and felt a bit bland with just the chili oil. First two people who answered phone did not speak English and the second one hung up on me without attempting to explain she didnt speak English. The 3rd person spoke English but refused to change my order from 2 beef and brocoli's to 1 beef and 1 chicken despite the price being the exact same on the Uber Eats menu. This is on Thanksgiving and I even asked if they could just give me a half portion instead. They still refused. To do that to a customer on Thanksgiving is really not cool. I told them ok then I will write negative reviews and never order from them again. They didn't care. Plenty of great Chinese Food places in MoCo actually care about their customers. My family ordered a bunch of different dishes, but our favorites were their pork and chive steamed dumplings, cucumber salad, fried chicken, and fried sweet potato. Their dumplings had a surprisingly thin dough and their filling is super tender and flavorful. I love soup dumplings, so I also loved that their steamed dumplings had some soup inside. The fried chicken is coated with a sweet honey-like syrup. We saw a lot of tables also ordering this dish, so definitely recommend trying this too. read more

This review is primarily for take out. We ordered online the House dumplings, pan fried and Pork and Chive dumplings, steamed. When we got there, there was side door on the right that I didn't notice at first, but it's separate from the rest of the restaurant and solely for take out orders (perhaps clearer signage could be utilized for my mistake!) I wasn't greeted by anyone, as the man behind the counter was busy filling up bags. But when he was done after a few minutes, he did acknowledge my pick up order and handed it to me. For two people, two orders of dumplings - a dozen each - was the perfect amount. The size of these dumplings are super plump and big, they were delicious. They came in practical containers with two sauces, soy sauce and chili oil. I can die knowing I had the best dumplings in Rockville. After one visit, I am already gearing up for a return to try more of the menu. When you enter East Dumpling House they have a fairly small seating area on the left. I visited at 7pm for a dinner and was seated quickly. Coming at 7:30pm is probably safe to ensure you get a table without waiting. This place is very well loved and treasured by locals. For my meal I ordered mushroom and vegetable steamed dumplings as well as homemade dandan noodles without oyster sauce to make it vegan. The dumplings were far and away the best dumplings I ever had. The inside vegetables were extremely well seasoned and the dumpling was so soft yet stayed together very well. I really liked how much the dipping sauce easily absorbed into the dumpling. That made all the flavors truly come alive. The dandan noodles were also good, but I think the flavor was a little off without the oyster sauce. I loved the chewiness of the homemade noodles, the well cooked bok choy, and the creaminess of the sauce. It just needed a little sweetness to balance out the flavor which I think is why oyster sauce is usually added in. I have heard there are quite a few other vegan items on the menu like scallion pancakes, garlic snowpea leaves, and fried chili tofu. I 100% need to return to try those items and enjoy another full order of vegetable dumplings. read more

I visited close to 9pm on a weekday to have dinner with my friend. We were seated right away and there was maybe 4-5 tables occupied by families and young adults eating. It took us several attempts to flag the servers just to place our orders. Once the food arrived, we had to flag the servers several more times just to get condiments, small plates, checks, etc. We didn't have to wait much to get our food. However, the food arrived tepid and cold. The house dumplings were cold and gummy. I'm not sure how long ago they had it premade and pre boiled. The meat and shrimp inside looked gray and didn't have much flavor. The scallion pancake was expensive given the portion size. It only came with one thin pancake and it was very greasy. The fried pork was delicious but tepid as well. The texture was good but the sauce too sweet. Parking was free for the first 2 hours and they validate using the machine located near the bathroom. It is also a karaoke bar so it plays lots of Asian songs with lyrics and music videos on the big screen.
