The classes were interesting, practical, and useful for my career. If you are considering studying business, this is a great place to do it, and the university also offers a growing variety of programs in other fields. As a parent, I would NOT recommend East Texas A&M. Freshmen are essentially forced to live in the dorms, and the environment my child experienced there was extremely concerning. We received multiple official safety alerts from the university, including an armed robbery in a dorm, a terroristic threat with an arrest in a residence hall, a stalking incident that led to a police pursuit, and a hazing investigation. Imagine knowing your child is required to live in that environment. My child described it as feeling like they were living in a prison, constantly on edge instead of feeling safe. No parent should have to worry like that. To make it worse, we paid around $22,000 for just two semesters, and it absolutely did not feel worth it. I am honestly just grateful this experience is almost over. If you are a parent, please do your research and think very carefully before sending your child here. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this school. I completed a course where the professor failed to grade exams in a timely manner, often taking 2-3 weeks to return grades. As a result, I was not given a fair opportunity to address issues with my performance or retake an exam before the course concluded. What is most concerning is that I have written communication from the department head, Tina Lancaster, acknowledging that this professor no longer works at the school and that similar issues affected other students. Despite recognizing the situation and apologizing, I was told there was nothing the school could do and that I would simply have to accept a failing grade. Students deserve timely grading, accountability, and a fair academic process. It is frustrating to be penalized for circumstances that were acknowledged by the institution itself. I hope the school reviews its policies and provides better protections for students in similar situations moving forward. read more

Today I went to talk to someone in the financial aid office at East Texas A and M University. I needed to ensure the Parent Plus loan I had taken out had been applied to my daughter's account. The young man I spoke to, I believe his name was Chris, informed me that their system had me listed as the student and not my daughter. I couldn't believe I made such a huge error. He said I could resubmit my application if it couldn't be edited but my credit would not need to be reviewed again. I drove back to Dallas and pulled up my application. It showed me as the parent/borrower and her as the student which is correct. I called the financial aid office and explained the information to a representative named Emily. She told me that she was told by Joanna that I needed to resubmit an application. I explained to her that I had proof the information was retrieved incorrectly on the university's end. I offered to email the screenshots of my original PLUS loan in June and she continued to state that they would only accept a new application, even though, I would have to undergo a new credit check. I am so grateful I have solid credit. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. I can't believe they refused to troubleshoot before forcing me to complete another application. Reviewing the information could have exposed a FAFSA discrepancy that others may have experienced that needs to be corrected or an entry issue that will impede the university's processing of such important documents. Either way, I was unheard and dismissed the entire day. I hope that my daughter doesn't have that same experience, as a student. read more

I heard this school's quality of education and students has not changed in years. Back in the 90s, I attended East Texas State University prior to the acquisition by Texas A&M. I went to get a degree, instead I faced immature students due to their desire of extending their high school behaviors, judgemental e-systems employees insulting some young ladies looks and unqualified or rude instructors that could not teach an Eskimo to make a snowman. An instructor here will assign you a ridiculous, demanding deadline for a term paper and only schedule one final test without blinking an eye that you have a full-time job, family, etc. I have envisioned they reside in their own perspective of the world like the childlike students. I can imagine the English department picking away at my paragraphs and pronounactions..oh no! The Forgein students are given more grants , easier enrollment and better grades than local students. Football players missing classes but getting better grades. Because its "football". Perhaps one day, local students will be able to afford the tuition that is overpriced and earn the degree they need for the job that demands it. Perhaps one day, little Timmy or Joni whom just graduated from high school, will stop worrying of others appearances. Perhaps businesses that send their employees to aquire higher education, will just do that instead promoting their prejudices. read more

Probably one of the worst experiences encountered by my child. I spent quite a bit of money for instructors with zero integrity. There were things they would penalize that were not announced or in a syllabus, but then go change the syllabus after or post the requirements after. When reporting issues, they put together a panel of instructors and they always protect their non-integrity professors and do not care or listen to the student. This was a throw away degree. My son went on to get his second BS from another excellent school because this school's BS was not recognized. A horrible experience. read more

(Disclaimer: my sister is a prospective student touring the campus and she asked me to tour the campus with her. My experience is solely based on my first impression of the school. As I've never attended this school.) Texas A&M Commerce a school that you think that is apart of the TAMU System located in College Station but I think not. Now, I'm not an Aggie nor will I ever be. Also, not that I have any hype for the school system neither, but I do believe this school is lowest you can go with TX universities and it fits the UTSA category very well. Now, the campus itself is nice, but aesthetics isn't always everything, but what I can't understand is why they would place the transfer students in the most run-down housing. It literally looks like a section 8 project housing and even on the inside it was beyond gross. Roaches walking, our tour guide had the audacity to show us the kitchen and it was paint peeling off the walls, the wooden countertop was missing all of the wood. Utterly nasty. Food crumbs everywhere. We asked her, "why does it look like that?" Her answer was "because students like to tear up things that isn't theirs, well it's theirs, but they enjoy doing it." I then asked her, "why won't they tear down this building and rebuild it brand new?" Her response, "because this is the tallest building in Commerce and the city wouldn't want that." Even the room she showed us, she knocked on a student door and they opened it to a filthy cramped room. They didn't have a model room available like at most universities. It smelled of mold and mildew throughout the Whitley Hall. The elevator was old and every time it moved up, it would squeak. They have apartments for upperclassmen , but they aren't any better. Maybe just a slightly better, but isn't top of the line like the freshman dorms. The freshmen dorms are top of the line, beautiful! I was shocked to see that because at most universities in TX, the freshmen students are the ones that get old housing, but not here. We had three tour guides for the general campus tour. One of the tour guides, this guy was hitting on me. I would say that was the coolest thing about the tour because he was a cutie. Anyways, the other tour guides were acting like they were clueless about the campus. Oh and boy was it cold outside! Cold! The university seemed like it was placed right in the middle of the hood. Low budget. I kept thinking to myself, "I hope my sister doesn't come here and does she like this school?" When we arrived to the tour, we got lost and couldn't even find the building. Where's the name of the buildings when you need them? No where to be found. Despite all that negative, everyone was nice, friendly, homey and smiley-faced. It seemed sincere. Even the guy that was checking me out, but he didn't get those digits. Prospective students there are definitely better schools in the TAMU system and this one isn't it. read more

Application process slow as molasses. After sending and paying for transfer transcripts from three other colleges, they wanted transcripts from a college that lost accreditation and went out of business, a non accredited seminary and two schools I never attended. I tried to reason with them and did not get anywhere and they insisted if a school is out of business they still need something, if a school was never accredited they still need transcripts and they need a letter from any school showing I did not attend there. What a waste of time and money. I will find another way to finish my Bachelors with another school. read more

We met with an advisor and visited the campus. The campus is definitely going through a growth spurt. New buildings going up everywhere. The Planetarium was impressive! Everyone was inviting and helpful. The campus deserves Five Stars but the curriculum offered was not in line with our goals. I came here for a graduation. This campus is much nicer than I remember! I had gone years back for an event and it has definitely made some improvements! The campus has also expanded quite a bit. The graduation was in the gym with stadium seating. We had lots of space and parking was not that hard to find. They had a very nice ceremony. This is a small town, but the university brings plenty of attention to the area. The school takes up a decent portion of the city, but not so much that it is the main focus. However, with more students enrolling the school is growing rapidly. Academically, this school has a large variety of concentrations, and provides great education. The campus is absolutely beautiful from the statues, to the student created art projects that are placed on campus bring a nice visual ambience. The ducks are a big issues here at times, because they wander across the highway and are at risk for destroying your car. If you hit one you will receive a hefty fine. These ducks have also been known to chase and bite people at times. Another issue is construction from the expansion of the school. Some of the work being done prevents easy navigation within the school. read more

Finally, when the Alumni center Refused to make a campus security report, I called campus security, with the same results. Every time I ask, I get a "did you report this?" I actually appreciate the professors that work for this particular Institute. I believe they really do their absolute best to provide students with the necessary knowledge for their curriculum. I also enjoy the availability of online courses. HOWEVER the graduate office is disorganized and unprofessional. I was not provided with a degree program until the end of my first semester. I was already enrolled in three core classes just to be informed that I needed to go back and take prerequisites. There was never a hold on my account nor was there a red-light raised for me during registration. I cannot believe how much I hate my school. Right now, I am unable to go to my online class because the ancient "ecollege" system is having some sort of error. I have been on hold for their IS department for about 10 minutes, listening to the worst hold music ever. And apparently, there is some kind of 24 hour chat line, but the voice recording is so mumbled, I cannot make out the web address. I mean, don't put the 24 hour chat link anywhere on the school website or anything. I clicked the "contact us" tab, it took me to a list of phone and FAX numbers. Oy vay. It was the cheapest MBA program out of the 5 or so I evaluated. And maybe this experience will cure me wanting to continue my education any further than this masters. if it was possible to give no stars i would! in my experience here as a nontraditional student returning to school to complete my degree i was treated with racism, indifference, hostile learning environment, i was discouraged from pursuing the special education degree that i came to this school to achieve. during my first semester spr 2022 while enrolled in an untroductory education class , an old bigot professor berated me opwnly in front of other students, called me the wrong name intentionally created hostility in the class with other students by asking tgem onw by one if they were having difficulties accusing me of being difficult. all because i request clarification on instructions for asdignment dates that were not listed on the syllabus. the syllabus was dated 2019/2020( all 4 of my classes syllabi were out dated) the racist professor even called a nonbinary girl using the wrong pronouns. he threatened me in front of the entire class. i have witnesses phone numbers as proof and i have proof of outdated syllabi. i was forced out of my class that i paid for beca u se of racial animous and disrespect. i was forced to conplete my class through independent study. i reported the racism to the university president, nothing was done. initially went to the then dean of students, i was told that hby him that he was not interested in hearing what happened in the class. during the meeting with him, he was impatient, lacked concerned , made it clear to me that i did not matter to him of texas am commerce at all. the same attitude and behavior exhibited by mark ruddin the president. totally unconcerned or unbothered by me experiencing racism and a bigot teaching on hia campus. to make matters worst, my degree program was phased out and not one single staff member had the decenxy to share this information with me before i paid my money for the first semester. this was not a surprise , the dept knew in advance. this is the regard tamuc has for a black student , especially one that opposes racist behavior and mistreatment. i requested a refund, i was denied. i applued for financial aid to get help paying for some classes i was denied. i applied for teach grant . after spr 22 semester my gpa waa like 3.25 i earned 4 as un my classes. i was lied to and told by financial aid that my transfer gpa needs to be 3.25 and not just my tamuc fpa. which is a flat out lie! i contacted many other schools and the dept of educatuon both was explained how teach grant works. ..i was told that a students school gpa ia the gpa that teach grant uses to determine the award. which, in my case made me qualify. i got so tired of being opposed , discriminated against, and treated with racial bias and hatred that i was fed up. i was told no when i asked for my money back since the spec ed degree program was phased out. i was told that my classes can be used for any other degree i choose. this type bias and racism and refusing me equal education opportunity is especially sad because my dream has been to finish my degree. my kids arw grown and falsely thought tamuc would provide equal access to quality efucation , but to my disaapointment that didnt happen. this has made me doubrtmyself as if i did wrong. my warning is to stay away from tamuc , save urself grief and disappointment. the entire school is racist each and every department is filled with racists that dont know how to treat students that oppose bigotry. this is 2023. not 1953. i started to just go away. but i cant allow this illegal behavior to not be exposed! read more

Our daughter graduated from Texas A&M Commerce yesterday with a BS degree in Business and we traveled from Garland to attend the ceremony. After everything was over and the last picture taken, we headed out for the graduation dinner and party. Unfortunately we then discovered that we had lost our keys. Not a pleasant situation, especially in the August heat. However, what we were not prepared fore was how helpful and outgoing the event staff was when they learned of our situation. Numerous individuals went out of their way to help us in trying to find the keys (which unfortunately did not happen immediately) and Josh in particular was resourceful and willing to make something happen (such as go to a dealership & get a key made himself). Wow. No wonder our daughter loved this university. Good people make a big difference... read more

I've had nothing but hell since transferring my online studies to Texas A&M Commerce. I've been to 2 junior colleges that were ran better than this "elite" institution. First, the portal to take tests and homework is dated and hard to navigate. Again, the junior colleges I've attended were way better and up to date. But the biggest issue at this school is communication and the financial aid department. I started A&M in the Business Analytics program but decided to switch to the Organizational leadership program because it is a fast track program that will allow me to graduate faster. Worst mistake ever! The ORGL program is not traditional and not paid for the same way. I knew that from the jump. But I had no idea that the process of changing would cause me to then have to pay out of pocket because the aid is not finalized until AFTER the class starts. On top of the lack of insight given from the Financial aid office, the employees there take 2,3 and some times a week to respond. Oh, and sometimes never. Oh and don't call the financial aid phone number, because all they will do is put in a ticket for your issue, send you an email with the case # and NO ONE will every respond to it. The departments do not communicate with one another at all. Some dont know the policy or the processes to subjects they are charged to handle. I expected so much more from Texas A&M commerce. Im from College Station TX where the main campus is. I now live in Dallas. But i was of the thinking that the protege the main campus holds transferred to the satellite schools. WRONG! I thought the process of finishing my BA was going to be seamless here. NOPE! Its like the school just opened their doors a year or so ago and is still in the learning/growing stage. Its slow and un-energetic to students/customer needs. Because thats all we are. Customers. But i feel like the money im going to have to pay back that this school charges is being squandered. Fix your issues Texas A&M commerce! Your jobs are to in someway make the students lives better. Not tie up processes with ridiculous timelines and procedure. Tell your employees to stop passing the buck on issues and educate them with the knowledge to actually answer questions instead of open cases. This is one of my favorite state university and I like the small town atmosphere of Commerce.

As a current TAMU-C senior, I can tell you this is a good option if your looking to stay close to North, North East TX. Now its a good sized campus, but the class sizes are 20-35 students. I have never had a problem meeting with a professor on a reasonable notice for counseling. The school is currently remodeling and has many new buildings. Over all cost are low compared to bigger state schools. What I don't like. Well the town of Commerce sucks. There is nothing to do here. Almost no part time jobs. read more

I started at TAMUC last summer after graduating in 2018 with my AA at a community college. I have now graduated summer of 2019, and it only took me about one year to get a Bachelors degree. Many of the classes challenged me with research papers that I didn't know if I could do. Most of the professors are great and will email back in a day. Only a few professors gave me a problem with no communication or waited until the last week of the semester to grade assignments. The academic advisors are hard to get a hold of and only take emails, not phone calls. I had to call the dean's office just for the advisor to speak with me over the phone. The tuition was high even though I had financial aid. I also graduated Cum Laude and was on the dean's list for the whole year. With having good grades and applying to scholarships, I did not get any. The school also has a grant for undergrads students who need help with child-care. I did enjoy attending Texas A&M-Commerce but wish that the school had more to offer students with good GPA's. I had to struggle to come up with money each semester due to the add on fees such as athletic fees, etc. read more

I can only comment on the Online MBA program that I took over the course of 3 years as I worked/ travel during the day and have a family of 3 children to balance along with everything else. I'm a highly compensated executive ($250k base) so my reasons to go back for my MBA were not promoting or incentive based. My reasons were more of determination to complete something I always wanted to attain along with honing my skills and leading by example to inspire my children. I was completely satisfied with the Online MBA program and especially the professors who were extremely dedicated and had the life's experiences to gain my respect. I like my school, i'm a veteran and do the majority of EVERY thing through the vet office. Jessica takes care of all of us and makes sure things are correct. Some of the school's teachers need a little slap sometimes but the majority of them are easy to work with and are flexible. read more

I am an international student came here to study masters in technology management program. Firstly the program " Masters in Technology Management" doesn't have anything tech in the course. Most of the syllabus revolves around drones, project management and leadership. The program doesn't have any internship or CPT which is a huge disadvantage. There are no scholarships available for this course. This is more like a mini PHD where in you have to do so much research on several topics which are absolutely waste and have no relevance in the practical world. Neither is this degree valued for getting a job. The professors are only bothered about having research in APA format and doing coursework like a research with no relevance to the practical corporate world. As an international student, i took this course with a hope to get some practical exposure like internship and getting placed in a technology company. But i have wasted all my TIME, MONEY and EFFORT on this useless course. The professors are very much involved in their research work and least interested in teaching or helping students be prepared for corporate world. read more

It has been a great experience at this college as I near completion of my masters in Educational Technology and Library Science. Friends completing grad programs at other well known and more expensive colleges are dismayed that they were not required to have an Eportfolio to showcase their work and knowledge as I have available to present to employers. The online classes have been challenging yet rewarding in that they push you to think from your own experiences and perspective to come to a conclusion for assignments. Several classes required classmate collaboration on projects. Professors are responsive to student needs through the online student lounge, virtual office, or email communication. My academic advisor has been prompt with answering questions and anticipates the best sequence of classes to meet my graduation requirements. I am grateful I chose Texas A&M Commerce for my grad program and I am looking forward to my next career move. read more
