So my 2nd time going to this place for a smog.The grouchy,sarcastic,rude, man that is always there smogging the vehicles is a smug individual. First time I met this guy I chalked it up as he was having a bad day.Upon my 2nd visit experience, when you greet him his demeanor is like he doesn't even want you to talk to him. His rude side remarks and face expressions,comments are just unsettling. You think that he's joking at first,but then you realize he's just a douchebag.Despise him being a bitter person,the smog is great.Just be prepared to be bewildered why this person is such an asshole. read more

THIS PLACE IS SHADY! BEWARE! I took my car here for a smog and it failed. Tech told me it failed because the timing was off. He then charged me $50 and told me to bring it back for a $20 re-test once the issue was resolved. I then took my car over to Brodie's to have the problem fixed so I could pass smog and get my registration. Prior to making any repairs to my car, Brodie's ran a smog test and my car passed with flying colors and they found no issues. They sent the certification to DMV and sent me on my way. So either East Washington Smog has a broken machine or its rigged to give faulty tests. Either way they basically stole $50 bucks from me. Shady business practices to say the least. Woohoo, called to confirm they were available , two bays open so I jumped in my car and was in and out for a total of 30 minutes(that included my drive over to garage). Waited in a shaded outside area and the nice technician accepted my Yelp discount as well. $65 and I didn't have to wait in a dirty, auto garage waiting area for eternity, If you don't want to waste time and want to do this on your lunch break, it is possible. read more

Ross at East Washington Smog is a gem. Friendly, fast, and clear, he made the whole thing easy. I didn't have to wait behind other people and he was nice enough to remind me that the ABS light would stay on for a few miles. Plus, he gave me a nice discount (I didn't know about the Yelp discount!). There is a pretty nice area to wait in outside (with flowers & shade!), or you can walk to Whole Foods, Teriyaki House or a number of other places to wait. Horrible experience.... If you need a smog check for your vehicle do not go to East Washington Smog Shop.... I did and returned 20 minutes later to find the front end of my suv damaged. I tried this place based on the yelp reviews, and I'm really glad I did. The test was super quick, and the person working was very nice. I want to say it was all done within 10-20 minutes. I've been here 3 times now, 2014, 2015 and 2017. Ross, the smog tech is friendly, professional and quick with his work. My first visit was with an old Cadillac that failed miserably. He explained my options with BAR which I took and ended up retiring that vehicle. The latest two times were on my current commuter car and were fast and painless. Giant sign above the front of the garage door says open Monday thru Sunday. It lies! Only open Monday thru Friday! And then only from 9 to 5 according to the small hand written sign on the garage door! We have a vehicle that we leave at our beach house. We figured that, since this place advertised so prominently that they were open on Sundays, we would drive in from the beach, 25 miles away, get the car smogged and then leave it back at the beach. Well, we now know that, not only is this place NOT open as advertised, but not a single smog shop in all of Petaluma is open on Sunday. So now we had to drive the beach car back 25 miles to get dear hubby's parking permit, leave the home car there and drive the beach car home (about 90 miles away) where we will find an open smog shop. Then drive back to the beach next weekend to drop off the beach car and pick up the home car. I figure we're out over 200 miles and lots of time because these jokers lied. read more
