It would have been helpful if they had sent that information in advance so I wouldn't lose session time. I met my therapist and let her know the massage was for relaxation since they offer pain relief and other types. She didn't ask about my preferred pressure or any focus areas. But we got started and at first the pressure was a little firm so I do appreciate she adjusted once I shared that with her. At one point, she applied an alcohol-based substance to my feet that smelled and felt like hand sanitizer, which was very different from the lotion she used elsewhere. Then she moved from my feet to my arm -- a bit unusual in sequence -- and ended up only massaging one side of my body before stopping because time ran out. When I checked out, I shared some of my feedback with the front desk, but the staff seemed more focused on getting me to sign up for a membership package. After I politely declined multiple times, the receptionist directly asked how much I planned to tip the therapist, which felt uncomfortable. Overall, it was an odd experience which is a bummer since the place is nice and was very clean when I arrived.

Okay so seriously... this place is my new favorite thing in the world. Know that you have to go in…read morewith a sense of humor and that there is a language barrier but you will have the BEST experience EVER. I have gotten a head spa treatment done before but this is a totally different experience. I was influenced by Katy to get the Groupon to do a girls spa day with a friend and wanted to make sure that we could do it at the same time, so decided to call instead of make an online appointment. So when I called, he didn't even introduce himself on the phone so I didn't know if I called the right business. I just asked if I had the right business and it was clear we had a language barrier but he was beyond friendly. We had mostly one word convos the whole time but successfully made the appointments and hoped for the best! The availability was very open and we were there within the next week. Parking was ample and when we showed up, we were greeted by a very friendly man, who clearly did not speak a lot of English. He pulled out his phone and showed that we would be speaking through Google translate. We shared that we had 2 appointments for 3pm for 90 min (the supreme) and then he took us back. We were seated to do the analysis and review our scalp health. I was first, and he took a few pictures of my scalp and said it was inflamed but I had a lot of hair, asked if I had any questions (I was stunned, I had no idea what I was getting into), so I said no, and I was quickly whisked away! My friend was left there so I'm not sure how her experience was. I was introduced to a lady, unfortunately I did not catch her name, but I was in the jasmine room, told me to get the things, and proceeded to point to the table - and left the room. So luckily I knew I had to take my top off and use the robe. Then I just laid on the table. She told me I had to get up so she could position me properly then laid me back down. They also drape a blanket over your body to keep you comfortable. Their description of the 90 minute Supreme Scalp Therapy is a Dredging Meridian & Deep Clean - Scalp Test & Aroma Relax - Hair Follicle Purification - Scalp, Hand and Neck Massage - Hair Mask With Steam - Hair Dry & Styling But it was waaaayyyyy more!! It started off with a pretty aggressive head massage but felt great. There was a few rounds of shampooing and masking but I also got a facial, arm massage, and then, surprise!! She pulls back the blanket from my legs, moves my legs and disassembles the table (whatttt???) and plops my feet into a pool of hot water to just soak. So you have water across your chest, head and feet. Don't go into this appointment with a full bladder. The massaging was amazing though. Great tension and then she ends the whole thing with putting the table back together, with you on your stomach, to do a massage and getting a lovely body massage/slap (as Katy's review mentions). Then she slaps me one more time and says "all done! Get up". So I get dressed, walk out to the next room where I get the most amazing blow out and we're finished. It was the best 90 minutes I could have spent and I am beyond happy I had this experience! It made me laugh, smile and I felt so relaxed by the end. Most importantly, everything was very clean and sanitary, everyone was extremely kind and friendly and they provided amazing service! I would love to do this at least twice a year as a lovely treat for myself. If they ever start a salon to cut hair... I'd come here in a heartbeat!

I saw Victoria S's great review and bought a Groupon right away for the ginger qi treatment. It was easy to book a timeslot through the Far East Scalp Therapy Spa website, although I did request Tyrone but got someone else instead. When you arrive, they'll scan your Groupon barcode (if applicable), then take you into a salon-like room to scan your scalp. The ladies who did my treatments didn't speak much English, so I didn't get any info on what they were seeing on the scan except for "oil," lol. Then you go into the private treatment room and put on a towel (like a bathing suit cover up). Take off your bra, because they will do a back/shoulder/chest massage. It took a bit of scooching and moving around to get into the proper position on the table, but once I did, I had a pillow under my knees and blankets over me and was super comfy. Then the treatment started, it was 70 minutes and I didn't know what to expect! Here's some of the stuff I can remember: -15 minutes of strong head/face massage and hair brushing -Hair washed multiple times, including with the ginseng treatment, which was VERY tingly and cooling -Washing/massaging of ears -More head massage/shoulder massage -Chest massage -Warm water running over chest with a weighted eye mask on -Vigorous back/shoulder massage with lots of slapping -Blow dry It was a very unique and interesting experience, and I felt pretty relaxed for most of it! I will say it's probably not great for pregnant people (you are flat on your back/stomach for the majority of the time) or if you don't like people touching your head, or if you don't like strong massages! I would definitely be interested in coming back in the future. My hair and scalp feel amazing. I wish they would have shown the scalp scan after the treatment too so I could see the difference.
