Last year my husband and I decided to undergo IVF, but unfortunately it resulted in 2 failed transfers. I crawled into Eastern Medicine Center in October 2022 with debilitating back pain. I was 45 and had always been extremely active and fit with no serious injuries. Dr Liu treated me with acupuncture and cupping for several weeks. I saw some improvement but got an MRI at the suggestion of my primary doc. I subsequently had 2 of the top spine docs in Phoenix tell me I needed a spinal fusion surgery. I kept working with Eastern Medicine Center, including an herbal regimen for pain and inflammation. A year later my back pain is nearly non-existent. Both Dr Liu and Dr Wong are fabulous at their trade and I cannot recommend this practice more highly. I tore the shit out of my rotator cuff (if you go to Macchu Picchu, do NOT do the Inca Trail; take the damn train!) Actually, I have two tears and was scheduled for surgery in July. Basically I was going to ruin my life for at least a year. I was not happy about it at all. I went to SE Asia in May/June with very limited range of motion and pain that was not fun. When I was in Singapore, a friend recommended that I try accupuncture. I laughed because that is so not my scene. But, as she put it, I WAS in the heart of accupuncture land and SE Asia is cheap as hell. After four days even with my inner mocking atittude, I had much much more range of motion and less pain. I couldn't believe it. I came back and met with my surgeon. He was blown away as well and put my surgery on hold. He told me that he wanted me to keep up with accupuncture so I could actually do physical therapy this attempt. that is where this place comes into play. I wanted a LEGIT Eastern Accupuncture place, not some stupid trendy spot. This is THAT place. There are two doctors, I worked with Dr Wang. He was fantastic and told me it would work. It did. He would start by asking me to move my shoulder in a variety of ways, and based on what I did, he would put ONE needle in my hand. Then I would continue to move it. My range of motion increased each time. I spent about a 5 weeks here. Initially I came twice a week and then it tapered off as I improved. This also allowed me to get much further along in physical therapy. I'm now doing strengthening exercises as my range of motion has come back to about 90%. That wasn't possible back when I did this, because no matter what I did, I coulnd't move it. My visits included traditional accupuncture as well as something that involved aluminum foil, a lighter, and things that smoked on my back. No idea! Don't care! This, along with physical therapy, has enabled me to move my shoulder with much less pain. (my tears will never heal obviously, but I can now function normally). Dr Wang was fantastic. I spent 10 weeks and thousands of dollars finding specialists and having every test in the book done to obtain a diagnosis for my severe abdominal pain ... finally I was told it was my gallbladder. My gastro wanted to put me on tons of medications in the HOPES that it would get better in another 3 months. No thanks. Someone recommended Dr. Jing Liu and I figured it was an avenue worth exploring. I made an appointment and had a wonderful consultation with her ... she's so perceptive (she can diagnose issues by looking at your tongue and feeling your pulse) and easy to talk to. She asks good questions and quickly arrives at a plan of action. She put together a cornucopia of Chinese herbs geared toward making my gallbladder and other digestive organs healthy again. After just a few days, I felt considerably better. And after one week, the pain I had suffered from for 2.5 months had vanished. I remained on the herbs for about a month and I'm completely cured. Are the herbs icky? Yes. Are they worth every nose-hold to choke them down twice a day? Absolutely! I had an appointment yesterday with Andrea for reflexology, and it was literally the best massage of my life. Reflexology isn't a full back massage, but I actually prefer reflexology because it focuses on the hands, feet, neck and head, with some back massage. Andrea used the PERFECT amount of pressure.
